hey foos
sinds you brought up the oil cooler what are your reading on your gauges.
wel it be little difrent sinds your boosted now but wen i drive like 30min at
80km/h oil will stay like 100degree C,30min at 120km/h it will be like 112C
want to compare it a little.
congrats on the boost up.

isnt the surge addicting! Boost is awesome! good job sticking with it and doing a very clean install!
Re: And on the 52nd Day, 'Foos Created Boost - Speedfoos' Turbo Install
Chris, the funny thing is I do have the radioshack usb....however the tuner used the same cable to connect....I have also tried every COMM port 10 times! I guess I'll go to best buy and see what happens. As soon as I get those maps on I'll send em over so you can tell me what ya think?
Good job on the drivin, foos! Just keep at it man! I run into headaches every other day. However I've got em pretty dialed down after a month. I drive her every day all day. She'll hold up!
In the end, after all the hard work, dollars, & problems....hitting 8 psi of boost rushing past a V8 with 350 CID feels pretty good! or for you nonstreet racing folk......8 psi on a curvy back road....Grinning the whole way. Who every thought a little 1.7L SOHC Economy Motor (w/ pistons the size of lawnmover piston) could ever turn this kinda of fun

While its amusing to play with.... get the thing completely tuned before you dog it.... your head gasket will love you for it. Car sounds pretty good, BOV is gonna get annoying after the novelty wears off.

Well talking about messing with my emanage has inspired me again. I went and played with the laptop & cable for about any hour. Finally it just decided to connect! It was strange, but who cares. It works now! So here for all to view is a map of my car on 8 psi tune (I have on 7 psi to run rich)
I have random cylinder misfire codes and baro pressure sensor code (P1106) Codes usally come on only in mornings..... Any and all suggestions appreciated!!! Greddy Emange Blue!

Re: And on the 52nd Day, 'Foos Created Boost - Speedfoos' Turbo Install
question.. im kind of confused... You said your cars leaning out correct? But in that second video i hear you say something like 11.0, 10.5... were you referring to you AF ratio? and if so, you do know the lower those numbers are the richer you are running right?

Re: And on the 52nd Day, 'Foos Created Boost - Speedfoos' Turbo Install
My buddy was read the A/F gauge while filming, and he has no idea what the numbers mean. It was leaning out because it was making more boost than fuel because the WG was not opening. It was completely erratic because the little injectors were trying, but couldn't keep up with the unrestricted pressure. While it was fine, it was not healthy for the motor, and could have been catastrophic! She's back at 4 psi and no more right now with solid 11.5s in boost. No pressure spikes, no leaning out. A little stutter at idle when it's cold, but I need to re-gap the plugs.
Thanks man! Once I get the gauges working again this weekend I'll give you my temps to compare.
Justin, I hear you on the BOV but I gotta let it run for a while!! I'll do a Greddy recirc when I get back to the states, dump the pillar bar and reloc' the gauges, and everything else to completely sleeper it. She's pretty much tuned for 4 psi right now. Chris and I have been back and forth with several datalogs and maps to get it right.
They do have drag strips here! Santa Pod Raceway! If things go as planned and I'm at 8 psi, we're going to the Run What Ya Brung on the 22nd!

Re: And on the 52nd Day, 'Foos Created Boost - Speedfoos' Turbo Install
Well my car runs great with the map. Only time she runs rough is on cold start up. Only for about 10 seconds if that, then a block later my misfire codes are present. Car idles & runs great under boost. Sometimes I have a hiccup between vac-to-boost transition.
I don't know why I don't have an ignition map.....I was hoping someone could tell me
.....anyone got any ideas....all help needed!!!

Re: And on the 52nd Day, 'Foos Created Boost - Speedfoos' Turbo Install
Ignition timing is not needed since pcs doesn't even have that capability but its certainly helpful to have. As long as you are not detonating you should be safe. Changing the timing might give you a bit more hp but as you said your car runs solid. The tuner did a good job.
