What did you do to your civic today?
Re: What did you do to your civic today?
I did an ebrake bypass for my pioneer double din, and im currently trying to find reverse light wire for "reverse trigger"..anyone can help me find green/black aka reverse?lol
Re: What did you do to your civic today?
You put your Pioneer Double Din where the e-brake used to be?
Ok...
The (+) for the Reverse lights is the green wire with a black line along the length of the wire. The (-) is a completely black wire.
You'll find them, well, in the trunk. Someone else might know how the wires are routed through the cabin

An ebrake bypass is where you can run movies and other things while the car is moving.
Safety regulations require a head unit to be in park with the parking brake up for those functions to work.
With a bypass, you trick the unit to thinking the ebrake is up.

First of all, keep the lenses damp with a spray bottle of lightly soapy water.
More importantly, depending on the condition of your lenses, choose wisely which sandpaper to start with. If they aren't extremely oxidized, scratched, or yellowed, do NOT start with the really coarse sandpaper. If you do, it will actually add more damage on the surface, causing the smooth lenses to not last very long. The low grit paper is meant for very severely damaged lenses. If you start with the second roughest sandpaper, you should be fine and the effects will look nice for a longer time.

Headlight restoration kits are good, but I have a tip for using them.

Today I refinished my headlights as seen in the post before, also changed the cabin air filters which were beyond dirty(now the air blows so much better). I finally got my hub cap Honda emblems in and put on, and I painted my cold air intake because I wasn't a huge fan of the Crome.

I bought the turtle wax kit to restore them and it came with all that, but it also gave me a bottle of white cream stuff that it said to rub in first and if this didn't work then to use the sandpaper, but it actually worked great with just that so I didn't use the sandpaper.

I've used the mothers restoration with all grits of the sandpaper. Works fine.
Just got to learn to keep the sandpaper wet.
It helps when they give you sandpaper pads with foam to hold water.

I used the turle wax kit with all three pads...it looked better but not showroom...
Then one day i went off the deep end, took the whole front end of the car apart to get the headlights out and restored them for real.
I wetsanded a ton with 3200 grit sandpaper then 4000 grit until all the haze was gone...then i took an orbital buffer and 3m compound to further clear them, then polished with plastX and the orbital.....they looked brand new

600 grit sandpaper worked wonders for me. Also saved me a lot of time and effort. Just gotta make sure you go up to higher grit all the way up until like 2500. I heard compound works really well too. I'll give that a try when mine haze up again in a few months.

I was going to give this a try this weekend after I wet sanded my headlights down. It's a DIY UV coating for your headlights, from stuff found at a hardware store. It will keep you from having to redo your lights every couple of months.

Will have pics up on Friday because the car is dirty as poo and my entire day tomorrow is filled with finals and 8 hours of working at the world's finest retailer for inbreds.

I'm sure you could figure it out.
Every day of work is like going to hell and back.
And the sad part is, they wouldn't even fire me for saying that.
