7th gen, yes it was.
EDIT: you have a 2005 in your signature, I assumed that's the one you are doing the head gasket to.
EDIT II: Back in October, you said your dealer stuck a head gasket on it before you recovered it out of the deal? Was something wrong with their work?

And it's the 2005, I had my mechanic friend do the work and I came by to investigate when he had it apart. He didn't like the design of the old head gasket at all...

I love MLS.
They are far more robust than composite head gaskets.
BUT
I'm not a fan of the engineers that put this particular engine together. IMO it should have been built with TTY head bolts, that would have made it a good robust setup.

Re: What did you do to your civic today?
Finished making my CAI.

Modified the intake pipe to hold the air sensor gasket and a piece of 3/8" galvanized pipe for the vacuum tube. Then I put a K&N RU-4860 on it and took it for a spin. Trimmed the vacuum hose a little cause it had a little kink in it and it's all set.

But overall the car runs good and sounds pretty good, a little louder from the 3k - 4k RPM range but not terrible. I don't really care about speed just MPGs!

FINALLY got back from the damn Mojave and got some good pictures of my new retrofit (I missed my baby so)!
Here's the front:

And a close-up of the passenger side:

And under the hood:

With a close-up of the relay box! My halos are powered directly from the battery now!

I documented my full adventure on my DIY here lol:

I drove her home in the snow! The rain is gonna melt it soon so I had to enjoy it while I could!

Goofing around with my lights again:

Switched to 7440 natural amber turn signal lights. I also changed out my weak-sauce parking lights for some badass LED ones!

My main lights are turned off here. Between the halos and the new parking lights, I swear they're almost as bright as my old halogens!

I need to see how they do in some real darkness now.

Re: What did you do to your civic today?
How is this thing still broken?!? After replacing the head gasket, (which solved one issue, intense pressure and burping coolant out the overflow) it's STILL LOSING COOLANT! I can smell it, but there are never any puddles or sign of leakage, but it still is losing coolant. I put a bottle of dye in the coolant and am going to borrow a UV light and see if I can find anything.
I'm beginning to really not like this car at all...

have you check your hoses? maybe it has a small crack that expands when the hose heats up and has a small leak but hides it self when it cools back down
Re: What did you do to your civic today?
Found the problem... the stupid spring clamps that hold the radiator hoses in place apparently lose their spring after a couple times pulling them on and off...
So now I need to drain the coolant again and pull the hoses and put proper hose clamps on in their place.
Glad it was this and not something else more expensive...

Re: What did you do to your civic today?
Yesterday I installed a new ignition switch for my '99 Civic with 234K miles on it, more highway than city, but I also shut it off at long stop lights.
It was beginning to wear out. If you have the engine off and you put it in D to disable the starter, turn the key to start and then release the key it bounces back to 'run' but the dash lights go out unless you turn the key slightly towards start again, indicating electrical wear. (About 1.5 minutes into this video shows the testing procedure ).
I have also witnessed spazzing out of the fuel relay/dash light due to a fuzzy electrical connection at the ignition switch when changing positions.
Got the part off Ebay for $14.50 shipped! Part #35130-S04-305, genuine.
So far it works flawlessly.
I have noticed that there are no videos on Youtube of replacing the ignition switch on a 6th gen Civic, so I made an unpolished video and will put it together and post eventually.
EDIT; here it is

Re: What did you do to your civic today?
Beat ya to it! Those are all done, they are a lot brighter than they look, they're just in the basement in dim lighting. Plastidipped them and ordered tires. They're going on in 2 weeks
I've gotten so sick of the cold... last week I put LEDs in my license plate light spots and both holders broke when I pulled them out
Out of curiosity - what tires are you running for your summers on the fit rims? I stayed with the stock size bc I don't want to run spacers right now or buy bigger tires for another year or two so I went with the Kumho PA32s high performance all season since no good summer tires are in that size :/

Re: What did you do to your civic today?
My fit rims are strictly for winter, they have a 185/55/16 mud and snow tire. I will get strictly snow (blizzacks) when they need new tires but they are ok now. It would be difficult to find summer tires in that size!
I use my HFP SS7's in the summer with BFG Comp 2 summer tires 205/50/16.
Well now I'll get to see how I like the white fit wheels with a silver car before I do it myself

Re: What did you do to your civic today?
Ahh gotcha. Ya I run strictly snow tires on 15" steelies, but the closest I can get to summer tires in 185/55/16 (if I remember right) are "high performance all season" which is only good for a light dusting of snow-otherwise warm weather oriented. Next time I replace the summer wheels I'll be more creative when it comes to tire choice.
As for the centercap - I masked them off and I shouldn't have. When peeling the tape off if you look super close the edge isn't perfect in some spots but not really noticeable unless you're looking for it. However, I should've just peeled off the plastidip after I was done. Next time

Re: What did you do to your civic today?
Changed the oil and cleaned the V-tech solenoid. The check engine light would come on and the car wouldn't rev over 4K RPMs so hopefully that fixes it. I bought the car about 10,000 miles ago so this is the 2nd oil change I've done to it.
The car did the same thing last time when it was due for an oil change. The CEL would come on and it wouldn't drive over 4K RPMs. I forget the code it gave but it was related to the V-tec solenoid. Then after changing the oil it was fine for another 4,000 miles.

Re: What did you do to your civic today?
Since the weather here is objectively shitty, I drove to a nearby lake and did a little photo shoot to showcase my completed headlights!

Took some last night too. You can't tell the lake is back there though.

Re: What did you do to your civic today?
Redid the valve cover gasket because the gasket alone didn't seal around the camshaft bump. Buttoned it all up and took it for a spin, and no oil is apparent. I did GUNK the engine before I drove it just so I could see very clearly if any new oil was forthcoming.
And I washed it.
