tC = Toyota Corolla. At least that's waht people like to say, it's actually based on the European Toyota Avensis but the U.S. version utilizes a lot of the same parts as the Corolla so it is a very reliable car with a good engine.

My only problem with the tC is styling. It looks good from most angles, but has some truly awkward design features... If you decide to do any body modifications, it may look tacky very quickly.

In my opinion, you should step up to a higher tier car with this opportunity. Don't go for something on the same level as a Civic...

Yeah but reliability is the main thing here, ive thought about BMW 330ci's but maintenance would be a pain. I think my best option in the higher class cars is a G35 coupe- fast, reliable, rwd

A GTI would be another good option, it'd probably be about a year or so until i pull the trigger on a new car though since i just paid for a new tranny lol

Re: What did you do to your civic today?

Decided I didn't like the rusty welds along the seams of my new muffler, so I grabbed my trusty old BBQ grill paint and blackened it. Seems like a cheap thing to do, but honestly it looks tastier than before...

mkV tdi's are incredibly reliable most gas powered mk4's wont last past 125k but my friends tdi has 190k on it and the only reason it has any problems is because it was his moms and she wasn't that great at stick and didnt know how to baby the turbo lol but his turbo is JUST starting to go and he had to do the flywheel and clutch on that car and thats it so the tdi'd are incredibly reliable

I'm gonna back up Pauly on this one, the GTI is a must have, especially for those delicious stock rims and excellent semi-auto transmission.

A/C quit working yesterday. Diagnosed as a bad control panel. Picked one up at the salvage yard for $40. Thank you car-part.com

And yes everyone, the GTI is an awesome car

Oh and i got my civic back again, they diagnosed the second tranny mishap as a faulty range switch, theyre replacing it in a few days but said it should be fine to drive for the time being.

Re: What did you do to your civic today?

thats one thing i like about this car, used parts are so cheap. i prolly should do a detail again before next week. pollen and tree sap sucks. its been hot but i tend not to use the a/c if i park in the shade. otherwise the power loss is unbearable and its so hot that the car hardly cools off at all to begin with.

not just used parts. i paid $40 for a new clutch slave AND master cylinder. my buddys celica was $45 for the slave $60 for the master lol.
still didnt completely fix the problem though. i didnt have a clutch at all before and now it just wont go into gear without me feeling like im gonna break the shift rod in half. i bled all the air out correctly. any ideas anyone?

Re: What did you do to your civic today?

new battery since the old one was at 225cca, hope my starting issues clear up.

replaced the rear shoes... what a nightmare! the worst part, i kid you not, was getting those damb c-clips off. i reused mine so i couldn't grind them off.

Re: What did you do to your civic today?

Replaced all for speakers in my '02 coup.

Taking the whole rear interior out was a real hoot!

I had to figure out how to use the old door speakers as mounts for the new ones. I called on a friend of mine named "Dremel" to help me out. Together, we got them working nicely.

I got lucky, as the previous owner did that in my car lol.

Not today, but yesterday... I cleaned her windows and took her for a hundred mile drive finally. Was nice to finally get some use out of it again (been really low on cash/gas money).

I know it probably sounds stupid, but thick foam padding might just do the trick. Seats do a lot of work in absorbing shock.

baby seat should be plenty padded. the stock seats do a good job with vibration, as do softer compound tires. the tires can make a world of difference.

i agree with gearbox, try some nice meaty tires first. and i also second the more honda civics idea. if i ever have one ill probly sell my coupe and get a nice sedan and keep my hatch as the one i drive when the kids not in the car lol. i can find nice 6th gen stock sedans for $1500-$2000 all day around here. yeah thats kind of a lot when your having a kid but i see it more like an investment cuz if you take care of it you can sell it once your kid gets older and get your money back from it. but i digress.

good luck.

I didn't tighten down the little bleeder that burps the coolant last time i was under the hood. So I had to fill it with nasty cloudy gas station water. So I flushed the radiator and put new coolant in.

i have a dc 4-1 shorty header for EX and love it. its jet coated tho, so i love it even more lol. tiny bit bigger than stock for port matched flow, and i think equal length runners. expensive but worth it. looks nice too and no power loss.

Didn't do anything to my car today, but when I was driving along, some guy going in the other direction decided to flip me off. He was also driving a Civic... albeit a crappy riced out one... do I sense jealousy? Or is this some crude form of Honda owners' greeting I'm not accustomed to?
