Re: What did you do to your civic today?
lately not that many. but i would be more than comfortable going 10k miles. i also use LC20 additive every 1k miles as an oil stabilizer. even with dino oil and the additive, 10k miles is recommended. with synthetic, im sure i could go 15k and be fine, but its cheap enough i just do it once a year. i dont like going under the car if i dont have to. altho maybe next year i might get the oil checked and go a bit longer. i always feel bad wasting good oil. the filter is good for 15k or 1 year whichever comes first.

Yesterday, I did power slides in my Civic and jumped my Civic for the first time. Today, I found out what the loud clanging sound was being caused by when a large shield from my catalytic converter fell off and the car no longer clangs. Is this something I need to have addressed immediately, or is my car safe without the shield?
Re: What did you do to your civic today?
broke three suspension bolts today
right rear lower strut bolt... left front lca bolt on left and right! Somewhat freaking out right now but all things are fixable. I was installing buddy club coilovers and ingall front lca's but it appears I have hit a lil snag.

1997 civic dx 1.6 cleaned out the iac valve. very full of carbon. hopefully i solved the surging idle problem. replaced all the hoses to the intake and iac valve. looking to know how to activate my newly installed d16y8 v-tech head. never did it before.

Re: What did you do to your civic today?
so long as the two snug shields on top and bottom of the cat are still there, youre fine. the big shields bolted to the car body on top of the cat and exhaust are just to prevent brush fires from reaching the car if you park on top of dry grass. basically useless because they only protect a few sections. i have all my shields removed for over a year and never had issues.

Got a nasty new door ding on the passenger side...
A huge crease in the bodywork and chipped paint and everything!
Some people are just so careless!!
It's only the third fault in my cars bodywork, but it's by far the most noticeable. I generally don't park near other cars and somehow I got the dent when I was away for 2 hours, because the parking stall on the passenger side was empty before I got there and after I left. *sigh

I'm not exactly sure where the shield came from- I haven't had a chance to look at it yet, I just recognize it's from the cat. So I'll post again when I figure it out, maybe a pic? I just want to know if it's an important part or not. I'm pretty sure the guy who installed my cat a couple months back would do something about it for free, but I don't know if I care to take the time. If it doesn't matter.

Re: What did you do to your civic today?
started hearing the clicking of cv joints when turning left. im hoping its maybe bushings or suspension expanding cause it doesnt happen all the time, but im worried. i need to get under and check the boots, altho i seem to remember they looked dry last time.
Re: What did you do to your civic today?
also I got pulled over yesterday and got a $155 ticket for not having a front license plate. The cop was a total dick.

I never installed my front plate bracket, and I live in a 2 plate state. So far so good for 8 months......
If I get hassled about it, I plan on saying that the dealer told me they would install it when I get my first service. The bracket and plate are in the trunk.

Re: What did you do to your civic today?
i think its like that everywhere now that they need money for the departments. i remember when they used to just give warnings for burnt out bulbs, now they give expensive tickets. one plate light out is over $100. check your lights weekly!
Re: What did you do to your civic today?
Michigan requires only rear plate.
When I moved here, I use IL driver license and without knowing that I have to change to Michigan within 60 days (I believe) so I ended up pay more than $100 for the ticket plus $200+ for court fees, fines and misdemeanor on my record. I hated the MI State law.
End of the story. They need money that bad. damn system.

Re: What did you do to your civic today?
I know that Missouri and Kansas don't require 2 plates, which is annoying, because they're always crossing our border just to mock us and our double-tagged cars
Re: What did you do to your civic today?

Re: What did you do to your civic today?
I have been getting pulled over left and right since I dropped my car.... I understand im in a car that attracts attention, but SERIOUSLY!!! Its a civic... not a Porsche.. pulled over 4 times got 2 tickets in the last 6 weeks
1. Running a stop sign.... I stopped fully... just not for a standing 3 seconds... $103.33
2. Failure to signal. my blinker was on when he pulled me over... lol. No warning or ticket. just being a dick.
3. Swerving.. I was swerving over a pothole (huge one) and he even said... swerving over a pot hole huh... what if you hit a car in the other lane.... I replayed with... there were no cars coming sir... let me off with a warning for reckless driving.. wtf
4. No front license plate - ticket $155
Im a target... an easy one... just have to be polite and hope they dont **** me...

Re: What did you do to your civic today?
I've never been pulled over, but I definitely agree with the being polite part. No matter how much of a dick the cop is, you should always respect the authority. Usually, they'll let you off easy in that case.
But man that sucks... 2 tickets
I feel like my car is a target, not only for cops, but for all the other idiot drivers with tuned cars (obviously faster than my Civic) that try to race me at every light like they've got something to prove...
I always let them speed off and crash into a pole while I just cruise right along like a granny.

Re: What did you do to your civic today?
Got my car aligned today (FINALLY!)
The shop was being very picky about my suspension setup and denying me service until I fixed it.
For the past two weeks I've been wearing my tires unevenly and scraping huge chunks of the sidewalls every time they rub the fenders. Now I'm running -1 camber all around, and still not very low, but the rubbing is pretty much gone. Next up is to roll the rear fenders.

Re: What did you do to your civic today?
Forgot to mention that my alignment was a totoal ripoff.
$157
Got my car back and it pulls badly to the left, worse than before.
On top of that, they put my front tires on in the wrong direction.
Next time, I'm just going to Sears or Jensen, lol
