OBD port and wiring melted
Long story short, my Scanguage went up in smoke. The company replaced the Scanguage, but now my OBD port is melted. I figured no big deal, I’ll just cut it off and put a new plug on. But it’s not that simple. I realized that the wiring for the port is melted as far into the harness as I can see. Not sure how that happened. I thought it was protected by a fuse. So I am going to need to replace all the wiring from the port to wherever the port goes to. So my question is what I do about this. Do all the wires just go right to the PCM? Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the OBD port? Thanks.

the last one is the diagram you asked for. the first six are the troubleshooting steps for no communication. should keep you busy a while

How can I start my car with a replacement PCM?
So now my PCM is randomly activating the rev limiter while I’m driving. This is obviously annoying, but also dangerous since the car randomly won’t accelerate for no reason. So my question is how I can start the car with my replacement PCM temporarily until I can get it flashed. Will the immobilizer brake code start it with a replacement PCM, or is there something else I need to do? Thanks.

Wait....Is this the same car that melted the data link wiring? That might really complicate things

Info about installing a JDM PCM in a USDM car
So I spent $15 on a JDM PCM, part number 37820-PSA-J83, and I don't regret it. I plugged it in and turned the key, but I was sure it wouldn't start since the green key light was flashing. But to my amazement, it started! I was shocked! I literally have no idea how it started. But then it died about 5 seconds later... I could tell by the way that it died that it ran out of fuel. So I manually powered the fuel pump, and it started right up and ran! I drove it down the street and back, and it ran perfect! I scanned it for codes, and it has a P1713, as well as a P0135, and P1253 because I didn't hook up VTEC yet. Those are the only codes it didn't have before though. I am still not sure about why it's setting a P1713 or P0135, but I will definitely report back when I have more information!
UPDATE: I hooked up the VTEC system correctly, and now the only unresolved codes I have is P0135, as well as P1713 if I put the shifter in 2. Not sure about those codes, I'll have to investigate further.

huh...
not sure if JDM have the anti-theft system then...
that means if anyone tries to steal your car, they will have an easier life to do it...

I may have to figure something out for security, like a kill switch or something. But I think it has some kind of immobilizer though since it wouldn't turn on the fuel pump by itself.

Re: Info about installing a JDM PCM in a USDM car
I’m still not sure about the P1713 code. I did notice, however, that when I put the shifter in D3, the light on the dash doesn’t come on. But the code is only set when I put the shifter in 2, and the light does come on in 2. So I don’t know what’s with that. I think the JDM PCM just doesn’t get along with my USDM trans. Maybe this issue will be resolved when I install my JDM SLXA trans.
Also, I don’t know for sure why it’s setting a P0135 code. But my theory is that, like the 01-03 Civics, the JDM Civics have a standard o2 sensor instead of an A/F ratio sensor like my 05 Civic has. So maybe the PCM is looking for a standard o2 sensor, and it doesn’t recognize the A/F ratio sensor. Does that sound reasonable to you?

Re: Info about installing a JDM PCM in a USDM car
The other thing I forgot to mention is that the case of the PCM is physically different, as you can probably see in the picture. I think it’s because JDM cars have the drivers seat on the right side of the car. So I think I am going to put the circuit board from the JDM PCM into the case for my USDM PCM, since the mounting holes don’t line up.

Re: Info about installing a JDM PCM in a USDM car
Also, after filling it with 93 octane gas and driving it for a little while, I’m pretty sure it does have more power. I can’t be sure, especially since the old PCM was broken, but it feels a bit stronger with the JDM PCM. I feel the most difference in low end torque. The engine feels like it has more low end torque. Not a ton, but definitely noticible, especially starting out from a stop. However, it doesn’t feel much different in the higher RPMs. I’ll report back on gas mileage the next tank.

Re: Info about installing a JDM PCM in a USDM car
I think a trace burned. I’ll get a better picture when I get home. I’ll take the circuit board out and get a picture from the back too. I wasn’t too focused on the burn mark when I took that picture, I was more focused on getting a side by side JDM vs USDM PCM picture. There are quite a few differences, as you can see.

Re: High RPM on the highway
Yes. It seems to perform a bit better with the JDM PCM, especially at low RPMs. Here’s the details: https://www.civicforums.com/forums/1...ml#post4745327
Nice work. Glad you got it sorted out.

Re: High RPM on the highway
i would be careful driving it at those speeds,
years ago i had a high revving issue like that (in a different vehicle) and all of a sudden cruising at 60mph the trans downshifted to first gear and nearly put my head through the windshield....thank god i had my seat belt on
