Ask Me About DIY Stuff V2!
Re: Ask Me About DIY Stuff V2!
By simply connecting them str8 to the harness and the switch no other items should be effected. I don't quite remember, but i beleive that I had to hook them up to a certian relay by my fuses, and I think that's what determines when and how they will turn on.

gotta remove bumper, and old headlights they have four bolts and one you need a socket extension bar to reach. put the new ones in, but make sure they are aimable when the bumper is put on. otherwise you have to aim with the bumper off so you can adjust and fit the lights first.

Re: Ask Me About DIY Stuff V2!
well its only a few screws, one under each wheel well at the edges, but there are alot of clips and bolts. both on top where the upper grill is and below at the bottom of the car. then the bumper is clipped to the car and has to be pulled off. theres a great diy over at 8thcivic.com for that.

Re: Ask Me About DIY Stuff V2!
well i am not sure what exactly you were asking, do you want the fogs to come on at any time? i am not sure what the harness you have looks like, but there should be a low volt trigger wire that you attach to any power source to determine when the relay activates. i put mine to the parking light wire so the fog light switch only works when the parking lights are turned on (i can still turn the fogs on/off but only when park lights are on). you can also use the 12v socket power wire as a trigger so you can use the fog switch any time the car is on, but they will turn off when you take the key out (in case you forget them on). i do not recommend putting the trigger straight to the battery in case you forget the lights on.

Re: Ask Me About DIY Stuff V2!
idk, i only know wire colors
but i would not recommend connecting a ballast directly to the stock headlight wiring, the wires are too thin. depending on the side (driver/passenger), the +12v constant will be the red or red/yel wire. the red/wht is the LO wire which becomes a ground when lo beams are used, and red/blu is the HI wire which becomes a ground when hi beams are used. technically to keep your ballast from turning off when you use the hi beams, you should hook the ballast power to the +12v headlight wire and ground the ballast to the car body or battery (-) terminal. but like i said, its a bad idea to use stock wiring. better to make your own harness like this with thick wire and a relay and fuse.

Oh shoot, you are absolutely right. I have the (+) and (-) spade connectors coming out from the Relay. In that case I would connect the wires from the Relay to the stock H4 plug but only use one of the H4 connectors as a trigger right?

Re: Ask Me About DIY Stuff V2!
Does anybody know if damper forks off a '98 ex will fit a 2000 si. Or is that part of the suspension that much different? I need to know cuz I have access to ex damper forks but I don't want to waste my money. Thanks

Re: Ask Me About DIY Stuff V2!
wow my post didnt make it so here goes retyping it all.
mexsican2000, im pretty sure the suspensions are different on the SI so dont think it would work.
faisi13, dash and gauge lights are fairly complicated to change. you have to take apart the pieces to remove the orange plastic film on the back of the dials and buttons, then wire in your own leds. theres a site that makes kits but usually they are not as bright as doing your own with 5mm leds. but check ledautomotive.com for ideas.
midnightcivic, thats a super deal on some lower end projectors. def not the brightest out there like a TL, but pretty good. usually a setup like that would go for 100 for projectors, 100-150 for ballasts, and 50 for bulbs. only other thing you need is a new wire harness made like the diagram i just posted above.
vinnie, the diagram really says it all. i dont know an easier way to explain it. just follow the diagram. the new harness lo volt trigger wire is tapped to the +12v headlight wire. this tells the relay to open and allows power from the battery side to pass to the ballasts.

Re: Ask Me About DIY Stuff V2!
the ep3's on mine are only have 3 bolts since the other one doesn't align well..no issues as of yet..gl
Re: Ask Me About DIY Stuff V2!
Hey gear did you try putting wood spacers between the rail and the floor? I've heard of a lot of people doing it, getting all 4 bolts in and everything is as Honda intended...I just don't understand why all seat rails aren't universal, it pisses me off haha

Re: Ask Me About DIY Stuff V2!
ya but, the ep3 bolt that doesnt go in is the rear floor mount thats not important. mine was the front right side bolt and was making the chair wobble if i leaned back. well i spent about $50 on new tools and all day but everything is back together and the threads were fixed with a helicoil. still need to get a honda bolt but the generic one i put together with washers is working fine. i also tightened up the seat nuts for the height adjustment and now it doesnt rock as much (maybe only 1/2 inch). so overall everything worked out.
Re: Ask Me About DIY Stuff V2!
Glad to hear you got it almost perfect. Hopefully with the Honda bolt everything will be perfect. BTW, who did your sig? I've been meaning to get one but never really looked into it.

Re: Ask Me About DIY Stuff V2!
mrplow, theres a sig thread somewhere on here you can post pics in and someone will make you one.
midnightcivic, how come you never attached your 4th bolt for the si seats? i think all you do is drill out the seat bracket a bit more so the hole lines up. i still wanna get a racing seat for the driver side cause i keep falling out of the stock one lol. no support. even the oem coupe seats are better.

I was drilling the bracket but my dremel bits sucked and i didn't want to buy some. I cant even tell I'm missing the fourth bolt so i don't mind.
I also bought that kit i showed yah from here..so im still thinking to do the retor myself or have someone else do it. Also the guy who might do the retro for me suggested this harness http://store.theretrofitsource.com/p...b8b83a5157d1af ..........I dont know how i would even make one so buying one would be easier. Also looking for some shrouds but i dont know which ones to get. All i can really do now is just black out the oem lights now..im real good at that lol...What do you think?

Re: Ask Me About DIY Stuff V2!
search ebay for 'projector shroud' and you will find a ton from retrofitsource. you could buy a set of cheapie oem style lights on ebay for $100 and play with those, that way if you mess it up completely youre only out 100 for the lights and you still have your oem ones.

Re: Ask Me About DIY Stuff V2!
making harness is so simple. its just wires, a fuse and holder, and a relay. im not sure about the premade ones, you want one with very good connections and at least 14 gauge wiring.
Re: Ask Me About DIY Stuff V2!
How do I install an aftermarket tachometer on an 03 civic coupe dx? I want to keep my stock speedometer. I just want to install a tach. Where do I hook up the wires? what do i need? etc.

Re: Ask Me About DIY Stuff V2!
here you go. but its so much easier to just get an 01-02 lx/ex cluster with a tach already included and swap it in (no rewiring needed).
