Ask Me About DIY Stuff V2!
Re: Ask Me About DIY Stuff V2!
Hey i posted this elsewhere on this forum but trying to find an answer.. if i should purchase the exhaust.. heres the story..
I have a friend of mine who is selling me a skunk2 megapower exhaust for real cheap.. about $100.. thing is i have a 93 civic and its a sedan..auto on top of that.. and it doesn't seem to be able to fit on this car.. he tells me its able to fit it may just need some custom piping.. it would just be the skunk 2 exhaust piping with the muffler. no resinator or silencer.. so my question is should i go with this.. worth it?would there be any way i could make the exhaust fit on the car? will it be too big? some help would be greatly appreciated

have no idea on the hybrid fogs. that car is a whole different ballgame lol. no info about it in any of the normal service and acc books.
the exhaust, i would not bother. it wont be worth the trouble to have an exhaust shop cut and paste it on your car. and even after that its gonna be really loud and annoying.
heres the dx-r site. my comp had too much going on at the time so i couldnt search my bookmarks lol

Hey Gear
I'm really wanting to get some VW side markers, you know the chrome bulb ones found on most Jetta's and Golfs. The only reason I'm not going JDM here is because they stick out too much, the V-dubs are kind of discreet. Look better too IMO
What do you think man?

Why would anyone need that much velcro? These guys sell it by the roll http://www.liangdianup.com/miscellaneous_1.htm and is
hook and look and velcro the same thing?

Re: Ask Me About DIY Stuff V2!
well it wont really work because the vw ones are flush with the body. so unless you can cut a perfect hole in the fender, it wont work. and they are very dim cause of the chrome cover over the amber bulb. i have the clear si sidemarkers with amber led bulbs and they blend in really well (at least with silver paint). i can take some pic if you want.

gearbox,
couple days ago, all of a sudden my brake light started coming on and going off randomly.
is this a serious problem? could it suddenly hardbrake on me? or is it just the line messed up?
or how can i fix this problem?

hey steve, i got a question about fog wiring. when you have an existing fogs and you're replacing your fogs with different bulb/connection. do you have to remove the existing then rewire the new fog harness (too much work) OR can you just do the short way and cut and reconnect the new end connectors to accomodate the new one?

Not a 100% sure but you do mean your parking brake right? If that is the case you either have a connection that somehow got crossed or shorted. The other possiblity is that the connector at your brack is actually loose. You can check this by taking apart your center console and see how much you have to move the break to set the light on your cluster off. It may be different per car but should be similar. If this gets you anywhere or if you have no success at all it may help figure out another problem.

Re: Ask Me About DIY Stuff V2!
for BRAKE light on cluster, it could either be a loose connection with the ground wire going to the e-brake (look under the console and check), or you actually have a problem with the braking system. the light also comes on for mechanical problems too i believe. does the light always turn on and off properly when you move the e-brake up/down?
for fog wiring, if you already have a complete wire harness with relays installed, its fine to just cut the old connector off and wire the new one at the end. same idea, different connector so long as the wattage is still around 55w and you still only have two bulbs, one on each side.
flasher goes in the fuse box under the dash (above the brake pedal). its a pain to get to cause you have to loosen a screw and then forcefully pull it down carefully cause all the wires get tangled. dont pull it too far or you may never get it back in. the flasher is a black box looking thing you unplug and put the new one in. check the diy hyperflash for the exact location in the fuse box.
sidemarkers i paid around $25 for the pair i believe, and you need to get the bulb sockets too for i think another $5. just look up a 2004 civic SI or something to find em. the leds are just those pnp bulbs at autozone with 4 leds on each bulb.

yeah i cut it with radioshack sheet metal puncher, its really rough and i had to use glue to hold the lens on, but i painted around the edges before installing so it shouldnt rust too badly. just use touchup paint around the sides that are bare metal.

Re: Ask Me About DIY Stuff V2!
sounds like the ebrake ground wire then. its prolly loose, it connects with a spade type terminal. but you gotta take the console off to be able to see it. its right next to the boot part at the bottom somewhere, the only single wire in that area.
Re: Ask Me About DIY Stuff V2!
Hey gearbox, looking for a wire tuck/fuse box relocation/battery relocation on a 6th gen. I can do them minus the fuse box without any help but you know how much easier things are with help. I more concerned about moving the fuse box and planned on putting it into the glove box. TIA.
Re: Ask Me About DIY Stuff V2!
Yeah that was what I was sort of affraid of. I know alot of people do the relocation but I can't find any diys for it. The only reason I want the box in the glove box is just incase I need to get to it ever. Would you have any idea of where to start at?
