Re: Ask Me About DIY Stuff V2!
it prolly will, just be sure the stock piping sizes are exactly the same where they connect to the cat. i know some models (dx vs ex) may have the cat in different places and the catback piping will change. you can look up the diagrams on www.hondaautomotiveparts.com too

i think youre gonna need a service book to even figure out which is the horn wire. usually horn works by a single + wire and then the horn is grounded to the car body. but for the new one if youre using a higher power version, you need to have a relay hooked up with thicker wire to feed the horn direct from battery. and tap the trigger wire to the oem horn wire. but first you have to figure out what wire that is.

Do you know if I can use some kind of silicon sealant to stick the rubber boots back on my coil-packs? It looks like that's what they had before, or some kind of adhesive.

Re: Ask Me About DIY Stuff V2!
i think they use a high temp epoxy, it must be super hi temp cause they run very hot touching the plug.
Re: Ask Me About DIY Stuff V2!
I have a low howling going on that is driving me nuts. I've tried everything i can think of, maybe you could give me a quick list of stuff to check. The noise happens as soon as you start the car, it doesn't matter if the clutch is engaged or not. The noise stays the same while your driving doesn't get louder or faster. The only thing that changes is if you drive alot in a day it gets quieter... Oh yeah it's a 98 civic EX lightly modified. I'm a pretty good shade tree mechanic but this is driving me freakin crazy, thank you.

Re: Ask Me About DIY Stuff V2!
usually the bumper has to come off for cai to attach the brackets and fit it properly. bumper comes off easy tho, just some screws and clips
Re: Ask Me About DIY Stuff V2!
I'm having trouble with my turn signals. Ever since I've had my car, I've had hyperblinkers from the previous owner. How he/she did the hyperblinker mod still eludes me. I did not notice a different relay, there isn't a resistor soldered, and I've already changed the bulbs (non-leds). So I still don't know.
In any case, my problem is that I now decided that I want to use LED turn signals (7443) for the front blinkers, but when I installed the LED turn signals they don't work. They don't turn on, nor do they blink when the signals are engaged. If I flip the bulb around, the cluster doesn't even blink, the turn signal stays lit green. At the same time my rear signals also stop blinking, the rear turn signal stays lit.
Any ideas on how to fix this situation? The bulbs I bought are in the link below. Thanks for your help gearbox!

Re: Ask Me About DIY Stuff V2!
just buy a flasher unit for LED. its an electronic one made by tridon and the part number is ep34. i have one mainly because i like the slightly faster flash speed over stock (80 flash/minute instead of 60). i tested it with an old led bulb i had and the signals flashed normally. i think maybe the guy just did everything internally with the flasher you have now so just go ahead and replace it. hopefully he didnt hack up the turn signal wiring before the flasher or youre gonna have a mess trying to find and fix it.
Re: Ask Me About DIY Stuff V2!
Hey thanks for the quick reply gearbox. I actually saw the thread you made previous about the electronic relay. I'll go pick up a relay tomorrow and try it out. I opened up the relay that is currently in the fuse box. I believe it is the honda oem relay and the electrical components all look intact. So I still don't know how the hyperblink mod was done.

Do you know if you have to take the camshaft out to replace the camshaft seal? My car is an 02 LX, so it's a little different from an EX.

Re: Ask Me About DIY Stuff V2!
Just got done doing it, the rocker arms pretty much have to come off, but you can leave the cam in there and just slide the seal off the end. If this doesn't fix my leak it has to be the head gasket, under the timing cover there is oil leaking that sits on that ledge of the block where you can see the head gasket. But I think it might just be dripping down from the cam seal and resting there cause when I had the seal off that's exactly where the oil coming out dripped to.
I'm taking your advice and painting some of my brackets and bolt heads flat black while they're off there. It looks pretty good so far. I picked up some stainless bolts for some of the smaller ones too.

Re: Ask Me About DIY Stuff V2!
I just replaced the pump and oil pan, and the pump comes with a crank seal in it. The leak is coming from the top of the engine now, it's either the cam seal. Which is now replaced, or the head gasket.
What happened was I replaced the pump and pan last week, but my lower timing cover was cracked, and the upper one behind the cam sprocket. So I put it back together without it, and only drove a couple of days, very carefully. Then when I got my new covers in and started working on it I noticed there was still oil on the front of the engine, but I could tell it was coming from up high and just running down. So I replaced the cam seal, and upon inspection of the old seal it looks like the culprit. The edges were kind of rough in one spot, not terrible, but it def looked like it could cause a leak. So hopefully it's all good now. We'll know after a couple days of driving.

I'm sorry, demmons81. I didn't realize you were talking about your post from 2 days ago. I thought you meant my oil leak sounded like it was the transmission, so I was like "huh".
