hey clint,
The raw grinding of first 2 intake ports are done, except for the fine work.
I could do some more work but the valve guides need to be out for that.
Here is what they look like now.
peace enjoy

the improved one. The engine does sounds alot driffrent with those stage 2
cams.Waiting for tuned vid version......
Yeah i cant wait till i got everything done but it will needs some time.
Oh clint a short quest. with what kind of (dont know the word) do you use
for the apr bolts? It has a different pattren if you know what i mean.
Sorry for the bad english and typos.
@Tuningmycivic : coilpack get hot stickers wont hold.

Eat me Tony. My car was just too fast for the Spoon coilpacks. They flew off on the way to work one day and killed a family of midgets who were panhandling on the street corner. I never did get them back. I'm gonna miss those midgets.
Oh, Ching are you talking about what socket to use on the nuts? If so, just use a 12-point socket, vice a standard 6 point one. They take a 12mm. Or are you talking about the Allen wrench used to run the studs themselves down?
If you speak German, post your question in that language. Sorry that I don't know Dutch or Flemish. German is as close as I can get. I'm terrible with languages and can only converse in German and understand what's being said to me in Spanish.

Sounds like you got a lot of knocking noise going on. You may want to take a mechanics stethoscope to find the source. It doesnt sound very healthy.

glad to see you got it installed and running . is there a tapping noise on the idle or is that just the sound quality on the exhaust noise? cant wait to see another update after a tune. keep up the awesome work. your inspiration to all us do it yourselfers

man, i hope that is just a bad tune, and not a valve tap from a bent valve, or timing being off a tooth, i want to see further results, that is aweful loud even for a stage 2 cam

that doesnt sound normal to me clint. i have a stage 2 and my car ALMOST idles like stock, granted my head isnt ported and ****, but i wouldnt think itd make it sound like youve got a loose cam in that bitch. the very first time i started my car up it DID sound like that, and it turned out that the car just having lean misses from being set WAY too lean. check out your AFRs and make sure they're normal. and on top of that, my valve train is loud, but not that loud. again, i have a stock head, but i wouldnt think head work would really make it sound that much different. just FWIW..
and merry xmas everyone.

Hmmm.. Well, first off, Merry Christmas everyone.
Looks like I have some checking to do. Gonna pop the VC off, check the torque on the rocker assembly, and re-check the valve lash to make sure everything is OK. Then I'll hook up the laptop and see if I can't dial in the tune a little better. Thanks for the suggestions and good to know about the noise level on yours Edwin.

OK, so pulled the VC off and readjusted the valve lash. Exhaust valves on number three were at like .25" and intake on two were about the same. Must have messed them up yesterday. I was drinking while adjusting the lash....
Anyway, no clatter like in yesterday's vid, woohoo!! I was able to add a titch more fuel across the board to compensate for the increased air flow of the head, however my idle is still flaky. My guess is it's because the alternator is partially fried. It used to be solid until that day at the track. So off to find an alternator. No sense trying to fine tune until I can get a steady AFR and ignition.
But, no valve clatter, and it idles a lot smoother, almost like stock (like you mentioned Edwin).
Ho ho ho mother****ers, Merry Christmas!

Well, drove it work and back today with no issues. I stayed out of boost on the way in to work (about 10 miles) and then on the way home, eased into boost 2-3 times up to 5psi and about 4500 RPMs. So far so good. I want to take it easy for a little bit to let things settle in. Coolant temps are way down - stable at 183 F, whereas before I would be at 196 F with fluctuation into the 205-210 range. So that's good.
Wheeling and dealing on a new (to me) stock alternator to replace mine. I probably toasted the voltage regulator at the track given the fluctuations I'm having. Next step if that doesn't work is to replace the coil packs. If anyone has a good used set, PM me as I don't feel like paying full price for them.

No problem at all Ching. So you need an 11mm, 12-point socket. Which I think is a Steckeinsätze in German, a douille in French, but what is it in Dutch?
Matt, when the head warped this summer, I blew one coilpack and I don't know which one so I swapped them all out. Once I get a new alternator, it I haven't found a reasonably priced used set, I'll go through and troubleshoot to find the bad one.

Dop Sleutel. Got it. I use altavista Babelfish a lot and and it gave me dop, but I didn't really trust it.
My flaky officially has nothing to do with my coil packs. I did some juggling a the spares the I have and the idle did not change at all. Gotta be the alternator. Thanks to streetthrowback and his for sale thread, I have a new (used) alternator soon to be on its way!

Thanks Steve. Just emailed Gerry about the IMs. Gonna start a thread here as well to see what kind of serious interest we can garner.
Did some more trouble-shooting, repairing, and re-tooling on the Civic tonight. I freshened up all my grounds and changed the location of my battery ground in the trunk in hopes of solving my flaky idle issues. Good news is that I got rid of my stereo whine when the rear defrost and lights are on. Bad news is that it didn't affect my voltage output. Oh well, block checked. New alternator is still on the way.
My new valve cover gasket started leaking a little in front after I had to remove it to fix the valve lash the other day. RTV to the rescue and she should be good.
I re-routed my wastegate vac line as well. I've been reading and researching and have found that your wastegate diaphragm may be prone to wearing out faster if you use your intake mani as a pressure/vac source for it. This is because the constant fluctuation between vacuum and boost causes the diaphragm to flex more than is necessary and it wears out faster. Sounds good to me. So I unplugged my pressure port on the turbo compressor and am now using that as the WG pressure source. Test drive will tell tomorrow.
I did some more aggressive boost pulls on the way home today. Some 9 psi runs up to 6K on the old tacho. Nice and smoooooth. I love this new cam. Much smoother than the stocker. My AFRs are just fine under boost (11.5-11.75) and it sounds freaking awesome. Plus I have zero coolant push, my temps spike to 187F after a 2nd-4th boost pull and then quickly go back to 183F. I can't wait for the alternator to get here so I can fix my flaky idle!

As soon as my alternator gets here and I get the idle fixed it's off to the dyno. I want to run a 6 psi and a 9 psi pull to see what she's doing. I'm getting just as curious as everyone else!
