What did you do to your civic today?
Re: What did you do to your civic today?
I also hate the thought of adding more weight. Speed is great and all, but does it offset worse gas mileage, premium fuel costs, handling sacrifices, etc? I'd rather have a second car for that. This car is my DD. It may sound a little crazy, but I'm happy with my D17. It's got enough for a commuter. If I want speed, why not start with a better base. Hell, I could just get a 8th Gen Si for a weekend car. If I lived anywhere else other than California, the swap would've been done years ago. It's that much of a pain to swap here. We'll see.
Thanks ya'll for the compliments.

Re: What did you do to your civic today?
I'm thinking about selling the K20A and buying another car. The hassles of getting smogged is making me second guess the swap. I am considering getting an AP2 or if the right opportunity comes my way, an NSX. A decent S2000 would be the same amount for the amount of money that I would pour into the swap. It's a problem I have with my OCD. Go big or go home. There's no compromising. Gotta have ITBs, JDM parts, etc. At least $10k, plus the motor cost. I dunno.

)and yeah, agree. I also would ever swap if i ever kills the D17. if not, i bought the miata for the fun.
It's fun to make the 7th gen faster, but hard to make it top dog...
6th gen dominates the ST classes, 7th does not...

Replaced the F'ing fuel pump. $140 and 4 hours later I finally got to work about noon. I swear, if I replace any more parts it'll be a new car. Still haven't replaced the heater core yet. That'll be this weekend, tired of cold air at stoplights.
Re: What did you do to your civic today?
I hear you on that. Master and Slave Clutch Cylinders, alternator and battery for me. Always something. Must be a heater core bug going around. You're the third person I've heard needing a heater core.
Re: What did you do to your civic today?
10+ years and coming closer to 200K miles everyday. Everything I've pulled off it has been OEM (except the passenger airbag wasn't there) even though it was a salvage title. All the big stuff has happened in the last year or so. Probably spent $1000 replacing pretty much every piece of rubber on the car. Texas is brutal on rubber, 3-4 years it's done.

Today,
1. Laid to rest: one blue Beaks bar..

2. Raised rear ride height exactly .25" getting rid of some minuet reverse rake, made sure all springs were facing the right direction and seated properly and everything else was tight and undamaged after a major bottom out at 70mph.
3. Employed 3 new rules:
-Nothing will ever go in the trunk except the two 12's that will soon reside there.
-The official back seat passenger total weight limit is 120lbs. Or 240lbs for the front seat ( two hotties can of course ride shotty
).
-Never change lanes on a badly paved highway damaged by trucks.
Max, maybe you were right about Beaks
but idk... they just look so sweet yano??
4. Ordered new Beaks bar.

Good thing it's tax season! I was gonna go with the ASR 32mm solid? That straight bar is across the brace is s.e.x.
So ok, I do need to correct some camber in the front, I am pretty low. I raised the back up some so now front and rear are tucking about 1 finger of tire. If I want a strut bar, does that mean I can't get camber plates? Should I go for a Comptech strut bar & Ingalls camber bolts then? I will probably order all at the same time.
-ASR 32mm
-Comptech strut bar
-Ingalls bolts
Good plan?

Re: What did you do to your civic today?
The 32mm might use a specific subframe brace, not the one just released that you have, but you'd need to confirm that with ASR. The 32mm is a great sway bar set-up and you can order various wall thicknesses bars, I would definitely encourage purchasing it if you don't mind paying up for a custom exhaust. The hotchkis is nice, because it's adjustable.
Are you getting the titanium comptech strut bar?
I had the Opak titanium strut bar, but managed to break it on, breaking a $500 strut bar made me so mad I had it welded and sold it.
You should look into cusco b-pillar bars, you'd probably like them.

Re: What did you do to your civic today?
+1 on the 27mm Hotchkis. You'll need the other brace for the ASR 32mm. Pillow mounts won't line up with the stock swaybar location.
Ouch! You broke a titanium strut bar? Wow.

Yes, research has lead me to the Comptech Titanium bar. Not sure for which model I need to search for, DC5? or EP3? And how in the world did you break a titanium strut bar?? The Cusco b-pillars are SICK! Probably will wait until the seat swap to get those. Nice one man! Didn't even kno those existed, do they serve any performance function?
Re: What did you do to your civic today?
Took some time off from work and enjoyed the 80 degree weather in San Diego. Bought a 4 AWG Crimp Tool last night, so finished installing my kill switch. Drilling holes in a tight space is such a pain in the butt. Three hours later, this is how it came out. No more disconnecting my battery terminal, when I work on the car.

Re: What did you do to your civic today?
Thanks, Bro. It's a 50A Hella Marine Switch. You can pick one up from Amazon for about $15. I had the machine shop here at work fabricate a mount. We have a CNC machine, so we made one out of some scap 1/4" 6061 aluminum. I took it to my buddy at SO CAL plating and got it anodized black.
Tried using some well nuts to hold in the bolts, but the holes requred 3/8" holes. WAY TOO BIG. Ended up using ny-locks, instead.
Came out pretty well. Not a lot of space in that area. This was my third design. Initially wanted to put one in the center console, but that's a lot of wire to run, just for a switch. I was also going to throw in a couple of terminals in the grille area, so I wouldn't have to pop the hood to give/get a jump start, but that was little overkill. Haha.

Re: What did you do to your civic today?
finally aimed hybrid side mirrors properly. harder to aim than hid projectors lol, even with electric controls. also deleted the rear seat foot vent system (useless) and put a block off plate so i get more air from the front. took apart and cleaned blower motor (copper dust EVERYWHERE) and glued the peep hole plastic piece to the housing so it doesnt rattle. motor got really quiet after the cleaning, even tho i hardly use it in the winter. disconnected power locks and keyless receiver to save power draw with the car off, since i never used it anyway. finally wired up my tyc halogen highs permanently so i can use those without worry in addition to hid lo beams. its lots of light lol.

Re: What did you do to your civic today?
changed oil first time after HG/TB.
looked fine.
Notes to self:
1) When loading the oldee oil in the trunk, don't forget to unload it in the oil change station.
2) don't try to do it on sunday, you are bound to forget it in the trunk.
3) if you think: hunh, i could swear i had 2 containers for old oil... don't think twice and open your trunk to look for it.
4) Don't forget that the container you had have a breather hole.
5) go easy on the corners when you have a container with old oil in your trunk. the breather could hit somethign and come loose...
6) having several rolls of shop towel in the garage helps a lot on cleaning yer own mess and forgettifulness... Clear on the last one, at the least...
Solved the oil leak on the oil filter sandwich (for the temp/press sensors), so no more small leaks
oil pressure gauge wire have been repaired, so no more scaring sudden drops in the needle... (that's the last thing that is supposed to fail, then the oil system... shame on me...)
Trunk smells old burnt oil - a mechanic's dream! aaaaahhhh! NOT! darn...
