Re: Install Day 10 (Pg 12) Bye Bye AC- Speedfoos' Turbo Install
MAN THAT SUCKS!!! thats prolly one of the main reasons i dont wanna turbo, cause i love my A/C when i really need it like today, it was 105 here, and yea it came in handy.
"Gonna be cool when its done. No Travis, you can't have it. I know it matches your car, and its an automatic too, but you'll have to make it past the gun show to get it."
To be real honest, i was about to see how much u wanted for it shipped?! lol just joking.

Re: Install Day 10 (Pg 12) Bye Bye AC- Speedfoos' Turbo Install
Thanks _unclejuice, I figured it would be something simple I just wanted make sure.
Oh, I'll be weak again and reinstall the AC. It will just wait until I re-do my exhaust and make a new downpipe. I 'need' AC here in the UK maybe 4 days out of the entire year and those already happened this year (remember when momma blew the HG?).
Found the P/N for the belt, but I'm gonna just measure it myself since no one seems to have one around here though.

Does anyone know how to safely (for me, not the environment) release the freon from the system?

Re: Install Day 10 (Pg 12) Bye Bye AC- Speedfoos' Turbo Install
say it aint so! keep the AC, even if you dont use it. it makes you less ricey! to keep the car running without it though, you just need to get the civic DX alt belt, they didnt come with AC when they first came out.

Re: Install Day 10 (Pg 12) Bye Bye AC- Speedfoos' Turbo Install
Hot damn Edwin, you've come to the rescue! $18.99 from Autozone and that sumbitch is ordered! You're a freaking lifesaver, I was about to go out there with my wife's measuring tape from her sewing kit to measure it and then hope I could find the right one. Yeah, I'll just keep the parts in a box in the back seat so when people ask me if I have A/C, I can say "Yup." and point to the box.
It'll get put back on when I get back to the states and I convert to a 3" exhaust from nose to and ***. Then I get to finish outfitting my machine shop for buildin' stuff. Band saw, cut-off saw, and oxy-acetelyne torch set are purchased and waiting back at my folks. Looking around for a good TIG setup now.
Step up to a V3 mani. No. As much cash as I've hemorrhaged on this build so far, I'm not about to dump anymore into unless it will increase the ponies.
Exhaust is still not done or even started. He promised by Monday. Good news is that they are almost done putting in the new floor (poured concrete by hand) at his shop, so he's got no excuse after tomorrow.
Assembled two computers tonight, so no wrenching until tomorrow.

This is great, I looks like you've put a ton of effort into it. But I'm sure it's because you went the extra mile. I'm excited to see what it looks like when it's done!

Re: Install Day 10 (Pg 12) Bye Bye AC- Speedfoos' Turbo Install
Well, I'd like to think I went the extra mile which is why its taking so long, but I've made a couple bonehead decisions along the way too.
Mounting the 3" flange on top of the existing flange on the DP was one. Probably could have kept the AC if I had cut the old one off. Although it still would not have mated up to the old exhaust.
Should have considered the WG placement a little better, then I wouldn't have to cut my hood.
Almost screwed up on the oil drain flange on the pan. Another 1/4" to the left and it wouldn't have cleared the downpipe either.
But, I'm still learning a lot and its good to see all the folks being supportive of the build. I don't really think I've had any inane negative comments so far (knocks on wood).

you suck! go away! Had to do it man...but really you are helping a ton of guys out with posting your successes and failures. Some people think you just buy this stuff and it magically fits together and thats not the case. Keep up the good work and hopefully you'll be safely boosted soon!

"The good news the scooter that I rebuilt fired up on the 2nd try last night!! Since I had to rewire the charging system, I had a 50/50 chance of getting the wiring right. What was labeled as positive on the cord I spliced in really wasn't and I was able to shut it down in time before the charger blew. Swapped the wires and was good to go!"
WHOOT!!!!! YEAH!!!!

It just makes you want to go turbo, doesn't it Jon?
How are the repairs to your baby coming along?
Here's what I have left:
- cut and route the vac lines
- wire up the wideband into the PCS
- install the boost gauge and test to see if my water temp gauge will be fine off the stock sending unit.
- install the PCS
- de-crappify and paint my alternator and PS pump
- fill it back up with oil and coolant
- defabricate the underside of the hood
- wait for exhaust to be done and belt to arrive
