Re: *CivicChick2001's Build/Car Thread*
any blue in the headlight output is illegal. and there is no halogen with a small amount of blue tint. its either white or blue (if you get luminics pure blue bulbs for example, which will hardly light up anything since very little blue light is emitted from a halogen bulb). and if you think about it, the color only matters to other drivers who see it, and dont care. you should be worried about how well YOU will be seeing the road not to crash. and blue tinted light is not the way to do this. our eyes are very sensitive to any amount of blue light because it is harder to process and can lead to blurry vision or poor depth perception. so not only will you be hurting your own eyes, but also the eyes of other drivers who have to look at them.

Re: *CivicChick2001's Build/Car Thread*
bluevisions or cool blues are your best bet for whiter light while still being safe, altho i would personally stick with the XP for the brightest light. its whiter than stock, but not as white as the cool blues. i can dig up some pics later

Re: *CivicChick2001's Build/Car Thread*
i was thinkin about gettin these while browsing for new stuff..
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/01-03...Q5fAccessories
they are the eyelids, or eyebrows, you can get.. i was wondering though, does this effect the light output? possibly causing less light to get out? and i'd want them to match the color of my car as well, so how and where is the best way to do this?
thanks for any help..

Re: *CivicChick2001's Build/Car Thread*
i had those before and had a body shop paint em to match the car. did not affect light output since it does not shine that high to be covered. and you can use 3m double sided mounting tape to attach em.
some pics of the headlight bulbs in 01-03 civic h4 housing.
stock bulb

philips xp

4300k hid kit (notice the poor beam pattern with many hotspots and holes, just use it for color comparison).

wow! that xp is bright! r u sure that doesnt blind oncoming traffic? if you compare xp to the blue vision, is the only difference a "whiter" light?
thanks for the pics btw
really helps when deciding what to get or what to keep.

I love my eye lids.
I had a body shop tinted spray can mixed to paint mine, which cost $45 but there's enough left in the can for a couple other projects I'm working on.

They're cheap, like 10 bucks. You can get them, try them on, and if you don't like them don't use them. It's all personal taste. Check out DarkSouljur's build thread. He recently put them on and has pics.

Re: *CivicChick2001's Build/Car Thread*
the bluevision/cool blue are about the same brightness as the stock oem bulbs, only whiter. philips xp is noticably brighter but not as white.

Re: *CivicChick2001's Build/Car Thread*
www.powerbulbs.com is the only place i know. but $40 is pretty normal for them.
Re: *CivicChick2001's Build/Car Thread*
k, that's cool.. thanks for lettin me know about all of this.. and from your pics, im gonna go with the XP's. and i know u obviously cant take complaints from other traffic, but have you ever gotten "flashed" by other people (headlights.. not anything else lol) bc people maybe think they are too bright? that's the only thing im worried about really.

Re: *CivicChick2001's Build/Car Thread*
they are not that bright and still completely legal for lumen output. i do get flashed occasionally with my hids now but only if im coming up a steep hill and light below the cutoff is shining all over ppls cars. otherwise normally they look about as bright as parking lights.
you prolly need to re-aim the headlamps after changing the bulbs (true for any bulb you replace not just the xp). just drive around and see if they look okay. if its hitting the ground and you have trouble seeing in the distance, theyre too low. if they are shining at other cars mirrors and it looks like you can see everything like hi beams, its too high.
