Man ive read this thread for about 2 months and i ordered a set of hayame coilovers about 5 weeks ago, i just wish urbanimport could figure out when they are supposed to show up.

at first it they were suposed to be in the week i ordered, but they didnt come so i called in and talked to them and he said it would be anopther 2 weeks, 2 weeks go by and i call them same thisng another 2 weeks, well i call them today just to hear the same thing.

i dont know whether hayame is jerking urbanimpots around or what, but it seems like no one really knows whats going on. I dont mind waiting it just sucks to have my hopes up every two weeks just to have them shot down

am i the only one with backorderd hayames or what i dont know. im just voicing some frustration im not trying to dog urbanimports, they always are very professional on the phone and seem to do their best to help ya out, but man do i want those coilovers somethin bad

nindoo, these are TRUE COILOVERS not just shocks. Koni's are shocks and only shocks. true coilovers such as hayames, tein, b&g come with both spring and shock.

stroked_monkey, its not just you who's waiting for them. Its on back order and unless if a company has them in stock all companies will be getting them at the same time. Its hard to calculate the arrival date since these are coming from oversea's. Its like like UPS where you can just get a tracking number.

That sucks I'm from Canada it I might never get them.

Are teins bolt ons?

I was thinking of getting a lower tie bar, do you think that's gonna help stiffen the tail of my car, cause its very unstable at high speeds on turns. Do you know of any ultra light ones?

What the set up on your car VNlilMAN? Very nice. I have the stock spoiler I find the Vic looks better without the spoiler when its dropped.

since the weather has been gettin nice ive been seeing all these nice imports slammed and it makes me all ansy, but hey all good things come with time, as long as they are here before summer ill be stoked and plus by the time i get mine all the issues with them should be worked out.

nindoo, tie bar wont really do much. You might want to get a rsx sway bar. try going on www.clubrsx.com. if you already have a stock sway bar on your car, install is really easy and should only cost like $50 with bushings.. In the pic i'm on neuspeed sports, viper front bumper, wings west g5 sides/rear with 18s. Right now i'm A LOT lower, just tsunami front and steelies. I need to get a kit and buy some new tires...

An example of stiff springs and soft shocks. Evidently he was lowered on stock shocks. This is ricerbounce.

Still waiting for my rears. It's been a VERY long wait.

I believe the SS & Basic require an uppermount but otherwise, yeah.

I was thinking of getting a lower tie bar, do you think that's gonna help stiffen the tail of my car, cause its very unstable at high speeds on turns. Do you know of any ultra light ones?
People... a rear lower tie bar does NOT - under ANY circumstance affect a car's handling abilities. All it is, is a bar that connects to the subframe of the car to prevent an oversized rear anti sway bar (21mm+) from flexing it... the subframe! These bars shouldn't weigh more than 7lbs. ---> www.procarparts.com

One of the problems I have with my stock suspension set up, is that when I drive fast there is a lot of body roll on turns. I feel very unsecure. The steering response is good, but the car does not seem to be stable on turns.
Soft springs & shocks (like stock) have their limits but stock isn't that bad if you have a set of good tires & some wide wheels. You should understand that body-roll isn't a sign of a car that handles poorly. One example of this is my previous set-up vs. my Hayames. My GCs & stock struts at a slammed height + thicker rear anti sway bar had little body roll. It handled great but I knew it could get better. Now that I have my Hayame's on, the car is higher off the ground, but I have stiffer springs and shocks. Because the car is not closer to it's center of gravity it tends to have a bit more body roll (not so much where it's not uncomfortable), HOWEVER my Hayames would run circles around my previous set-up. Every performance characteristic about my car has improved except it's height as I'm sure it would be a lot better a LOT lower.

I just miss being at that height. I could change lanes in a snap with no body roll... but now I can do it faster, it's just that you can feel the spring compression due to it's higher stance.

You might want to get a rsx sway bar
A very wise choice for our cars... but you just forgot the clarify that you meant rear bar. Don't want him to get the front - it doesn't fit our cars.

SlammedBlueEM2, your car looks pretty low in the pic.

Your previous set up must have been scrapping the ground.

Someone mentioned that the Hayame's can be lowered up to 4 inches.
Is that really possible?

When adujusting those Hayame's how do you match the heights of your strut pairs, is it trial and error?

After installing the coilcovers will I need an alligment?

On the www.clubrsx.com website they have pairs of front and rear sway bars selling for about $150-$300. Is it around 50 bucks cause I can sell my stock sway bar and buy the rear rsx one seperately?

SlammedBlueEM2 and VNlilMAN, I know this has nothing to do with suspension but your cars are shiny. I was wondering if you had a good car washing technique. Someone was telling something about applying clay to the body of car then using a speacial primer(or something to remove small scratches and watermarks), after all that waxing the car.

My previous set-up scraped, yes. I go by the saying, "If you ain't scrapin' you ain't low enough."

Now I'm not scraping.

Hayame's can be lowered up to 4 inches in the front. I took pics of my car with the Hayame's lowered all the way in the front. The car was 2 3/4 off the ground, making my mid-pipe only 2 inches off the ground. The front tires were tucked.

Matching height/preload based on either the two fronts or the two rears is all in the use of measuring tape! For the fronts, you can easily tell the difference in height by looking under at the bottom of the strut. For the rears, you can count the threads or use that hole that's in the collar if possible. The only trial an error there may be is matching either the front to the rear or vice versa but that's not really a challenge.

I think a lot of people on this site would encourage you to get an alignment after you are happy with your suspension set-up and don't plan to mess with it for a while. If you got an alignment and wanted to adjust your height, or camber angle then you're going to throw away your alignment. I never got an alignment after getting my GCs on. It's not like your car will be in definite need of one just for a coilovrer installation.

And you must've been looking through the RSX parts store on that site. The bar VNlilman was mention is the 19mm STOCK rear anti sway bar. You won't find it in the store more than you would find it from a private seller. Your best bet would be to go through their marketplace forums.

As far as what I wash my car with, I use this pink stuff that I think is by Meguiars that's considered a "soft" car wash. Soft and pink for my baby. My car has not been clayed yet. In fact, I was given one and I lost it! Well, on the other hand, Mothers has a good clay bar kit if you wanted to know a good brand. If you just have the clay bar, you can use some detailing product (I have one, but I'll have to get back to you on the name of it, too) and it should clear swirl marks. After than, THEN you wax the car.

I would highly recommend one with these. Atleast I know I had to. My toe was really off. so off it ate up my stock tires in a matter of weeks.

for detailing, check out the detailing section. I learned a lot from there. The pics were when i used to baby my car and wash it atleast once a week. Now i wash it like every 3 months . I use 3m swirl mark remover(its a minor abrasive that "sands" down the clearcoat, REMOVING minor scratches, makes the surface smooth as glass. Shouldnt use this too much tho), meguiar's show glaze(It shines up the paint and simply HIDEs swirlmarks, and meguiar's yellow wax.

I have no mechanical experience and I have a friend that has just completed his "mechanic traning" (required in Canada to be a mechanic). Do you think my friend will be competent enough with my help to change the struts, or do I need to go to a real mechanic. I really don't feel like getting ripped off.

What does it mean when you say your "front tires were tucked"

How do I know if I need a camber kit?

Do you think its wise for me to keep the Hayame's on for the time there is no snow and take them off put the stock suspension back on during the winter. Is that feasible, or does too much fiddling ruin the components?

By the way you guys are very informative, this is a very good forum.

If I had to rate the difficulty in installing Hayame's.... from 0 being the easiest to 5 being the need of a veteran... I'd have to say 2 or 2.5. I installed mine with little experience and could've done it with 0. There's a really good suspension DIY in the forums if you want the downlow. All you need are the tools.

"Tucked" means when you tires are tucked inside the fender wells.

You don't need a camber kit but it will help reduce uneven tire-wear. A front one is unnecessary for most full coilover kits (including Hayame). A new rear wouldn't hurt.

I wouldn't bother changing the suspension back to stock. Just raise the height of the car if height is your concern. I don't see any reason why you'd need to change it due to the season. It's not a track suspension and if it was, it doesn't deserve to be on the street.

"Angles"? lol, no. My wheel gaps are completely filled in my signature pic without the wheels going inside the fender wells much.

It's been over a week since we've heard from Mike. I hope this is good though. If he's not here cuz Hayame's still trying to see what's up with the coilovers then I can be a bit more patient.

Did you guys buy your stuff from Urban Imports?

Did you pay via credit card?

Did they charge your credit card even though they haven't delivered the kit yet?

SlammedBlueEM2 are those the si rims of the 2000 Vic

Yes. They're the same as the 03 EX Coupe's. Only difference is the center cap.

Ah, I'd also love for my questions to get answered... wait, no this one. I wonder why the rear coilovers that work for our cars are the same as the ones for the RSX.

If they're having height issues i'm guessing its cause they're using rear civic springs which would explain why their rear are the same as the correct ones for us

Thanks guys, I used meguiar's wax and DARN DIGITY WAM BAM! the car is shiny.

I'm ready to buy the Hayame coil cover kit. I've emailed Michael to ask home much it would cost for the kit including Shipping. I also asked if it could be shipped overnight.

I can't wait.

Honda should have put the SI enigne in the EX and the EX engine in that SI hatchback. They could have just made a a higher end 1.7 L engine with 160 horses. Well why stop there they should have put the rsx type s engine in the EX Coupe.

Nah. Then you'd just sell your car and get a 350Z or an RX-8 or an S2000. It happens all the time. People who start with Civics upgrade to RSX. People who start with RSX upgrade to 350Z or EVO8. This is just the way it is. You got a car, you get used to it and know there's always gonna be something better than you no matter what you buy. After the EVO8, what? BMW M3? Corvette ZO6? Dodge Viper? The Civic might be at the bottom of the performance chain but like any other car, it can be made to be what you want it to be - it all depends on where you start.

the next shipment is supposed to come in like a week and the rear springs are coming in the next shipment. For those that ordered from urbanimport can just contact them with rear part number on the spring and get it replaced.

The springs are in the next container (middle of this month) and the coilovers are either in that container or the next (by the end of the month I have been told). As soon as I hear anything new/get something firm I'll post it up.
