Full Review on Hayame Coilovers
Yeah, ****'s late. I thought the springs were to be available by the middle of this month, or is that the time UrbanImport receives it?
No more **** from Japan for me anymore... especially if it's new on the market. I'm not complaining or bitching (cuz I know there's nothing I can do about it but wait), but I ordered these in late January and it's almost May. It took a month and a half just to get some good news. Although Hayame made their mistake, I won't make another mistake like this by buying a new product and putting so much faith into it knowing a new product or item could have it's (un)natural early flaws from the manufacturer. I haven't lost my faith in Hayame or their American distributor - and I don't blame Mike from UrbanImport as he has done all that he can and I would still do business with him. I don't want to have to deal with something like this ever again.
The only solution is to wait and be patient - either wait for the problem to occur to someone else so it won't happen to you, or - be hasty and risk having a problem that will leave you with no choice but to wait. If I had remembered this before, I would rather have dealt with the patience than dealt with the frustration.
Guess I just had to vent.

when my hayames were first put on, the rears were really high. i lowered it as far as i could with 0 preload but my rear sat almost stock, just slightly lower. i drove around on it for a while and it seemed to settle down to about a one finger gap on it's own. but i got the right spring #s...anyone elses do this? or do i sound crazy?
either way, i really like the hayame's. great ride.

slammed- u got more patience than most people would have. ive been frustrated for a while and i ordered mine, at the end of feb. hopefully this will all come to an end soon. it seems that its all coming for sure at the end of this month, so hopefully everyone will have there stuff by the 1st week of may, well thats the way it sounds from the last time i talked to urbanimports at least.

gh0st, ALL suspension do this. The rears take about a week to fully settle.

I hope so
I'm pretty interested in getting these, but I have a question. If I do get them I'm not going to lower my car right away. I need to replace my struts, and I just want to upgrade my entire suspension. I will lower it in the future, when I get new wheels. But for now if I put them on with a 0" drop, will I need to adjust the camber at all? I assume no.
Some height adjustable suspensions can't go up to stock height but I'm fairly positive the Hayame's should. I know they will in the front. My rear's are almost at stock height but that's supposedly due to having the wrong springs. To answer your question, no - you won't need a camber kit even if you have a 4 inch drop. It's not a necessary part for lowering but if you want to stay at stock height, you really won't have the use for it.
You can't buy the struts alone. They would never work with the stock springs. First of all, the "strut" is Hayame's, but the shock (what's inside) is Tokico. So they can't be sold under Tokico. Tokico will never make aftermarket shocks for our cars. Everyone needs to understand that they've bullshitted us for 2 1/2 years saying "it'll be out in a few months." If you want Tokico, you're just gonna have to put them on a different car. They obviously don't like the 7th Gen Civic.

That's not good to hear... because what if I happen to get the right springs and nothing changes? I'll admit, I'm still not completely sold that the change of springs will help given they are the same exact height. But whatever - if it doesn't work then I'm not going to be happy at all. Already I'm expecting the worse once the springs come in.

another preload question: when you say 1/2" of preload, do you mean you've moved the first locknut up 1/2" from where the point where you can't move the spring?
Yes, from the starting point where the spring remains stationary.
No word from UrbanImport yet. Supposedly we're to have them by the first week of May.
I should've been prepared to buy another suspension set-up.

man its to the point where i dont know what to do, i think since ive waited this long for em i might as well just finish it out.
i just hope when i get them i wont be dissapointed. 2 plus months is a long time to wait just to get let down and realize uve just waisted ur money

eh someone with koni's and ground control told me he'd rather go with hayames. Ground control's springs are just waay too soft. Sure koni's will kinda help it but whats the point of having good shocks when the springs suck. Also handling with gc's suck. Not to mention you'll probably need the gc adapter or else the perch might break on you. oh and installation, not many people can install it themselves..
koni's(550) + gc's(300) = $850 minimum
adapters($40?) + installation($100) = $990 most likely total cost
stiffer springs($50 or so)
Thats why i dont recommend sleeved coilovers at all. I'd rather go with D2s if you want something with damper adjustability. If not hayames are good enough.
Only problem hayames had is mismatched rear parts for a few people. I know it sucks having your car sit high in the rear for a couple months but is it really that big of a deal? There are spring manufactures who actually design the springs wrong(opposed to shipping out wrong parts). For example neuspeed(which they now corrected). how the rears were almost like stock height. Or progress how the front was still 1-2 finger gap while the rear was tuckin. How spring manufactures say their springs work on a sedan when really the rear sags. Atleast this is something thats correctable unlike most other problems people run into.

What are D2's?........and the two problems with hayame coilovers are the fact that there is still the problem with the mismatched rears, if that gets taken care of then i will head back in the direction of those...but then there is also the other fact that it takes like 3 months to get them...
I agree. The Hayame's turn a lot better. On the other hand, GCs and Koni (although more expensive) does have the benefit for being able to have any spring rate you desire, or you can have the shocks shortened for a little extra cash. I'd rather work with the Hayame's, but either way there's still something better than both of those set-ups IMO.

PrcCivic, have you been living under a rock or something?
j/p bro..
Here's my review on the D2s http://www.7thgencivic.com/forums/sh...hreadid=150640
It hasnt been 3 months has it? Mine came in jan, I think the last ship came around march. It takes long cause the demand is just so high on them and they sell out even before the reach the states.
