What I mean is, is the high flow cat a real functioning cat or is it a look a like?

It's a real cat. Mine flows better than OEM but will still pass emissions. There are look a like cats out there. They have the shell of a cat but are hollow inside. That Ractive header, downpipe and cat is a really good deal.

not sure about the HP cat replacement...i think its an actual high flow cat. th e kamikaze is just a straight pipe, for better performance.

Bruno: right now you can get the kamikaze full header for 260 USD which translates into a decent 319CAD. + a bit of shipping but i hear the kamakazi is much bigger and i dont really like ractive as a brand. HP would be nice...if i could only find a dealer with prices. still confussed about what model is for mine...oh well..i'll mail em

The kamikaze header for the lx does not replace the downpipe since our cars have the downpipe welded to the midpipe.

you only needed to shave the motor mounts with the old 1-piece 4-1 hp header (not with the shorty) because it had to be installed from underneath the car.
i did a search and the general statement was that it does replace the cat...since the cat is directly below the stock header. from what i heard it's a full 4-1 header with a straight welded on pipe that attaches directly to the exhaust...aftemarket exhaust only though. no cat, and the downpipe is already welded on.

right now i'm talking to a guy named pjcivic selling the HP header with downpipe, not sure what finish it is yet but he's including an 02sim and a extra sensor to plug the 3rd hole for free. he only wants 175 for it so i told him that if it fits the DX/LX model he can consider it sold. that's a great price. USD of course but after shipping and exchange its still gunna be less than 230.

maybe i will join you after all bruno has fellow HP users

k the guy thats selling the full HP with downpipe drives an EX. I have a DX/LX. I know the two cars are different in stock exhuast systems which is why theres a different header for the two...but my exhaust is not stock anyways. since i'm doing the rest of the exhaust in the spring; would it work.

will it fit??

depends if the HP header was an old version or new version...
the old version may cause you to shave the motor mount...but the new version doesn't...

as for the downpipe...you will need to get EX front sway bar to avoid hitting the cat...
or you may want to cut and extend the downpipe to avoid the problem...

also u will need to extend the O2 sensor located after the cat...
hope it helps...

APRboy, are you getting ur car back today?

btw...if you guys wanna use O2 simulator...I am not sure if it can pass emission test...although it send a "correct" signal to the ECU...but those emission test guy may look around ur car b4 test, if they notice this O2 sim, they may want you to get rid of it b4 test...and therefore, you won't pass emission test since you don't have cat or the cat doesn't pass emission at all...

Rich, IMO the ex header will fit your car, the main difference being where the exhaust bolts onto it. That is the only difference. As far as I know the sway bar in the si, lx, and dx are all the same. Good price man, do it up

ok, so the header has only been used for 250 miles so thats awesome. I read around and heard a few people mention that the sway was a problem but of all the people that did DIY or just posted comments on the header itself...none of them said anythign about having to do the sway bar switch. Even if i do have to its not a big deal really. As far as the extended 02 sensors go....i'm told by many people that they'll fit...however it doesnt really matter cuase i'm just gunna use the 02simulator that the guys thrown in the deal. when emissions time comes...i'll just have to do it up or put the stock back on. thats not for awhile though. How often are emissions...mines a 2002?

it's stainless to so i'm very impressed

well...I'm pretty sure that EX and DX/LX have different design front sway bar, that's why I have to cut and extend the EX version random tech cat...and I don't think random tech cat designed a bolt-on cat that need modifcation on EX either..since it designed for EX...

as for header, since APRboy already installed...and you should be fine...

yeah...you have 02civic...mine is 01...my emission test due next year...

i'm pretty psyched about this. The header/02sim/downpipe and cat are all good to go, now all i gotta do is get that stainless steel mandrel bent exhaust from the downpipe back to my muffler, with bigger piping of course. Plus i'm always looking for new engine mods to complement the 75 shot(+purge&warmer), CAI and now the HP header...i guess all i need to look for now is a power steering pulley. IF i could find a cheap UP pulley that would probably complete the performance aspect. Too excited bout running at the track come spring time

question: how much do you think i'll be looking at for the exhaust from the HP header back to the muffler that i already have?

hoping for the stainless mandrel bent like i said , but if i have to i'll get a bigger crush bent mildsteel exhaust. Anyone have a custom stainless exhaust?

APRboy and myself are using stainless steels...

I got crush bent and APRboy got mandrel bent ...

about $600 for me...you may find somewhere cost less....

and I think mandrel bent would sound much better than crush bent...cuz mine is damn loud...I don't really like it...

Mine came out to 1000 but that's 14 gauge mandrel bent stainless steel including downpipe and new hi flo stainless steel cat wihich was 230 alone. And the installation of the header and relocation of 02 sensors. So i got a pretty good deal. THe stainless steel i have is fantastic. It makes for better sound.

That is true Macfay. Normal steel that exhaust shops use is cheaper than factory stuff.

wow thats a bunch of $$. Maybe i'll be stuck having to get the mild steel in crush bends. Most i think i'll have to put towards it is 400. I'd dont like doing things half-way but i need to change the exhaust for the header to fit. Unless i can get a good price on a custom job in either stainless or very well done crush bends.

What about an aftermarket exhaust for the EX/SI...i assume that would work with the EX/SI header right?? If i managed to have a miracle event and found a cheap exhaust, do you think there would be modifications that i'd have to have made to it to fit properly, or any extra pieces i'd have to have made to extend **** around?? i'm lost.

Braden: scanning throught the forsale threads...whats this about you selling a cat back for $250. Its ractive i know...and i'm not a fan of ractive, apc, vibrant bla bla bla..but i am in the market. Whats the deal with it? Like what does it fit, what are the specs (tube diameter, bends, muffler) any pics...i like my muffler so i dunno...maybe i'd do a switcharoo....just a thought...figured it would be worth checking out.

aftermarket exhuast for SI/EX...do you mean the Cat-Back Exhuast for EX/SI?

if so, it still won't fit properly, since you have DX/LX..the hi-flow cat(or downpipe) you going to install is different in length than EX/SI downpipe...remember you need to extend the cat(since it going to hit the front sway bar)...therefore, the cat-back must be shorter...

in conclusion...the best way is custom make it...from start from downpipe till the muffler...

i think you can get stainless steels installed with crush bent about $500 or less...i did $600 since i have more custom work needed...and i didn't compare the price in different shops too...

No Problem Big

I think my best bet is with nayzboyz in scarbrough. Hec's Z from the boards had his 2.5" mandrel bent mild steel done for only 230 including install and a Y pipe. Stainless isnt a HUGE deal to me...mandrel is key though...perfrmance for Bruno's Euro-squishing

They are still waiting for a connector to come in. But they will see if they can get it to work until the other connector arrives. They better have it done for tonite.
