engine compression will provide resistance. if you don't feel anything like hard stop or grinding, there is not likely something in there.
Re: Werid noises and a stall. Fun
Ok I was rewatching the video. Behind the teeth there's like a metal disk but its just not there for parts of the disk. Could that be the issue or is it supposed to be like that.

I don't get what I'm looking at. Could you possibly explain it. Also what could be loose or broken in there that I would need to take off the trans to find out what it is.

Re: Werid noises and a stall. Fun
sorry, forgot to say.
Upper one is the manual, so disregard
bottom assembly is the auto torque converter. Same as the clutch in the manual trans, connecting engine to trans.
I was answering about the disk behind the flywheel.
we have not even found out if it is in the flywheel case or in the trans itself, so can't say what it is.
there's also the possibility that it is not there either, someplace else... That's the life of mechanics...

Yup just read it. Sorta understood but I'm not sure if I have some of the things he does in his car or transmission. What I'm getting from it is to spray brake fluid into the trans and hope it clears it up? Also didn't understand what he said about the metallic filter or whatever. Although I will try.
Re: Werid noises and a stall. Fun
I'm not sure if we have the same issue. His is a loud whine, but mine is like a loud grind. He did mention a loud grinding though. Won't hurt to try. There's a filter in the trans?

Re: Werid noises and a stall. Fun
yes, the usual main culprit for failing auto trans.
We have a separate section for that for the 7th gen for the frequent incidence of failing trans.
keep in mind that your issue is not common, so we don't know what is going on on your case.We are in the same boat as far as knowing the cause

Re: Werid noises and a stall. Fun
Sounds great! Ill break open the trans today! That's a joke btw. I've got some brake cleaner anc I'll attempt to drain and clean the filter. Where would it be? Also, I don't have any spare trans fluid so is it ok to filter and put it back in to test?
Re: Werid noises and a stall. Fun
Got some oem fluid ordered and it's on its way. Uh so I may have lost a small tube into the opening of the transmission. And it's seemed to have disappeared. Should I be worried about that, cuz I'm pretty worried about it. To be clear I lot a small straw into the transmission fill area. I am not the brightest.
Re: Werid noises and a stall. Fun
Just an update, but I did a compression check to see what is going on after finding out the car won't even start anymore. Here's how the test went. First had 154, second had 200, third had 153, and fourth had 155. Is one of them supposed to have such high compression? Starting to think it's engine related now. When I pulled spark plugs to check, the plugs were black. But these are new plugs. Also it smelled like oil mixed with gas. There was small gunk on some of the plugs too. I do not have any luck with cars.
Re: Werid noises and a stall. Fun
Well. It's the end boys. The noise turned out to be from the engine, not the trans. It was a rod knock. It went from that noise to a rod knock. In the 3rd cylinder. Well she's sold now. So I won't be around here anymore. The car was fun while it lasted. Maybe I'll get another cheap civic and just take everything apart to learn more.
Re: Werid noises and a stall. Fun
Sorry to hear that. Just curious, did it ever overheat? If oil gets too hot it stops lubricating and can cause spun bearings and rod knock. I've bought a few Civics with rod knocks that were caused by bad head gaskets that were neglected.
