Re: Manual vs Auto
I have an manual and on these little inline fours I wouldn't ever want an auto just because of shear lack of power. The difference between the two is like night and day
I wil fix vBPlaza today

Re: Manual vs Auto
I vote auto, but not by choice. I actually wanted this pretty clean 98 Integra LS that was manual, but my mom opted to buy off a family friend's leased Civic. All they're asking for is the money to pay off the lease (which is like $7500). I think it's an 03 or 04 EX sedan, but not too sure
Re: Manual vs Auto
ok... so i ve had my civic ex manual for more than a year... and i jus drove my friends 02 lx auto home from nebraska to connecticut because he's getting deployed soon... and i wish it was manual... i understand y everyone busts on civics... it was so laggy... i went down the lonest run of highway in my life and the speddometer stuck it out at 92 miles per hour... for a solid 2 minutes with my foot to the floor....i no its different cars... but it was alot different.... i will admit although.. i drive through hartford everyday for school in ct and get stuck in traffic for 30 minutes....and auto would b nice
Re: Manual vs Auto
Manual all the way!!! Automatic is garbage and its very very very boring and alot slower... i feel bad for whoever has an automatic and races it... and if they hook it up its even more stupid... auto takes you like an hour to get to 60.. LOL
Re: Manual vs Auto
i wanted a manual Mustang GT for my first car but the mother said no so i ended up gettin a V6 automatic, which i love the car but hate the trany but luckily for me, 2 years later for my 18th birthday i got a new car so now im waitin for my 08 Si to come in, n i love manuals, so much better than auto, i get so bored drivin my car sometimes n i cant wait for my manual to come in, im gettin the coupe, but i drive my friends si sedan sometimes haha i cant wait for it to come in
Re: Manual vs Auto
I wish I had a manual. So much more fun and control.
I didn't have a choice though. The car was my Grandpa's and when he passed away, I got it. But hey, at least my Grandpa had a Civic coupe and not some Oldsmobile or something lol.

Re: Manual vs Auto
Definatley a stick!! no comparison. I had a stick 02 ex coupe and loved it so much I traded it in for a 05 ex coupe a couple months ago. They may not set the road on fire but these cars are sporty fun to drive and easy to take care of. Besides with some mods for looks and a little extra power they are nice little cars.
Re: Manual vs Auto
manual. and love it. i hate when your driving an auto and put the petal down and have to wait for the tranny to drop all the way down to first gear before you can start making any power... and on long trips auto puts me to sleep
Re: Manual vs Auto
boy bringing up a dead forum goodness me... auto my car has "shifttronic" its actualy realy decent and nice cuz i still have sporty shifting in the turns and i control the gears. infact i can get a 6speed auto. hahaha but i miss a clutch alot!!! thats one thing that helps. better gas mileage comes from crusing out of gear
Re: Manual vs Auto
Well since someone brought up this thread we might as well keep it that way...
I've got a manual.
Clutchless manual... that's got to be a weird feeling, shifting without the clutch.
Whenever I drive my parents 00 Accord automatic, it's so irritating because I'm driving down the street and the revs are different and I keep thinking I should be shifting.
Not to mention even getting the car started, going to put your foot on the clutch, just to find out it's not there.
EDIT: what the hell... I could have sworn this thread was bumped up more recently than June... it was on the main page "Latest Forum Topics" and everything! Oops.

Re: Manual vs Auto
I learned to drive in an automatic Camry; failed my driver's test twice. Took my test in my dad's manual Jeep after a 5 minute parking lot crash-course in driving a manual and passed with no point demerits.
Soo... Manual 100%. My '01 is a manual, and I refined my driving skills in it, taught 2 friends how to drive a stick in it, and have yet to replace the clutch. Busted my right hand and wrist in collegiate cheerleading and never once wished it was an automatic--it just made driving more fun!
There's just something about feeling the hum of the engine and being able to hear the transmission responding to your shifting that makes you feel powerful and in charge. To me, it feels safe, and it's really helped me form what I consider to be a relationship with my car. I know when something's wrong because I can sense it-- feel, smell, hear, or see the problem right away, because I know how she is SUPPOSED to respond to me.
I just don't get that with an automatic because the lil ***** do whatever they want and shift at the wrong intervals half the time.
I'm looking into a 2010 Insight right now and am thinking I'll keep my '01 anyway.
My dad taught all of us to drive a stick, because "You never know what kind of situation you'll be in when the only vehicle available has a manual transmission. MY girls are not going to be helpless, so sit your *** down, shut your mouth, and DRIVE!"
Funny thing is, the next year in college I WAS in a situation where the only vehicle available was a stick, and I was the only sober one who knew how to drive it.
My bf has an '04 automatic Civic and he's always trying to get me to let him take my car because I get better mileage. I know better; it's because MY car is more FUN. (Neighbors think we're disgustingly cute with our matching white Honda's)

Re: Manual vs Auto
I have an Auto but I've driven a few manuals (not civics) and they're fun..
I was thinking of getting a stick Mini Cooper S..those things are too raw!
I voted Auto in the poll but honestly, I'm just confused about which I like lol
