wish i didnt have an auto ... but i do. i cant really complain though, i didnt pay for it.... on the plus its a lot easier in the city

poor jaysun 07-14-2003 10:11 PM

Manuals take the lead 3 to 1

joshwgnr 07-14-2003 10:12 PM

whered u get 3 from?? its 2 to 1

joshwgnr 07-14-2003 10:13 PM

Auto is good for stop and go traffic. But it gets mad boring on longrides and nice straight highways. A stick is more 'sporty'.

If I buy a manual car, it probably won't be a dinky Civic.

SpeedStars 07-14-2003 10:26 PM

Auto sedan here... parents won't let me get the Manual coupe.. I got jipped.. well my next car will be manual.. booya.

Mikee 07-14-2003 10:53 PM

i wanted a stick but some people told me that u get sick of it so i got auto and i regreat it cuz its sooooo slow and boring.....

Master J 07-14-2003 11:24 PM

what the hell who told u u'd get sick of stick?...shouldn't it be the other way around

<--auto

civicvtec1ps 07-14-2003 11:27 PM

def stick...
i had auto. it sucked . and hated everyday

Falcon 07-15-2003 12:01 AM

auto.. which at first i regretted,

but when i think about it, my car is really heavy with 18's, huge box, amp, etc... im not really looking to race it anyway

the only downside i see is that you loose a bit of speed.. 1/4 mile times are about a second longer

but big deal, im a lazy ass.. and this makes my life easier... so i dunno

if i were to get a sporty car in the future, id probably go with a sequential manual if i had the opportunity

Yukonart 07-15-2003 12:25 AM

Manual here. :D

yourinmyw0rld 07-15-2003 12:36 AM

<======== Manual.

cvcpwr2k2 07-15-2003 12:38 AM

get sick of stick? you gotta be kidding. my service loaner car was an auto. i had it for a day. got bored of it and longed for my manual after 1/2hr of driving.

azure 07-15-2003 12:55 AM

Auto here. I thought I would benefit from it since I'm in traffic going to work and going home... I guess I do, but it's no fun. I so wish I had gotten a manual! :hithead: (But, there's always the K20 swap ) My next car will DEFINITELY be a manual.

CivicHX01 07-15-2003 01:06 AM

<-----manual lover... you can't do fun things in an auto like

1. red-lining (well maybe if you put it in 2 then d3....etc.)
2. rev matching
3. double clutching
4. heel-toe downshifting

haha, i just noticed i listed them in order of difficulty (4 being the hardest)

i can do 1 and 2 with no problem but 3 i need to work on my shifting speed (i think a short shifter would help) and 4 the car still jerks a bit... i need to get it perfect before i actually use it to enter corners....

i've had my car since june 01 and i love stick and haven't gotten tired of it! sometimes its a pain during traffic but i don't mind...

bluecivic03lx 07-15-2003 01:42 AM

I have an auto in my civic lx..I like it better than I thought I would. Its a little slow on take off but cruiseing down the interstate at 85 mph,I can't tell a whole lot of difference.Plus I live in the mountains of western NC,and you have to shift so much that its gets to be a pain in the ass some of the time.

7thGenerasianCivic 07-15-2003 04:12 AM

Umm...lets see, I have an auto but wish that I have gotten a manual. But if I had a manual I woulda wished that I had gotten an auto...hmm...

Auto's kinda boring right now for me...
i wanna get higher rpms but dunt wanna floor it. and higher rpms equal more power. :(

r0b2186 07-15-2003 04:13 AM

<=auto
manuals aint fun where im from
reasons:
there are no long straight roads (interstates and highways are always traffic-y:o), everybody drives like sh*t and extremely slow:yell:, waaaaaaay too many grannys out there:shake:, stop-go-stop-go

besides, imo i figure if i get manual it will be on a car with more than 127hp:please:
unless for some reason i decide to swap a k20a in my lx sedan :hgrin: lol

also, my dad had a manual '70-sumthn MG MGB and has been driving automatics ever since :D

Mex 07-15-2003 04:43 AM

I was never about performance to begin with. I got a car to make it look good, auto is just the most convenient for me. it comes most in handy when i'm eating in the car or using my cellphone.

r0b2186 07-15-2003 05:29 AM

exactly, lol

WannaBFast 07-15-2003 05:33 AM

no regrets for 5spd here, love every minute of it

flotsamm 07-15-2003 09:59 AM

Manual tranny owner here.. I'll never go back to an automatic as long as I can work a clutch. I see some peeps mention that they dont like driving a stick in traffic, but it doesnt bother me. Its actually alot of fun.

bluecivic03lx 07-15-2003 10:10 AM

I figure with my car being and lx non vtech theirs not a whole lot I can do to iimprove the performance anyway so I'll always be more show than go.

Falcon 07-15-2003 10:45 AM

hey, vtec actually makes tuning a turbo REALLY difficult.. its easier for you to improve performance than it is for us EX owners

EDIT: holy crap.. spent too much time looking at vtec written as vtech.. and i slipped up!! :_doh:

perry 07-15-2003 10:50 AM

manual...

thats cause im a driver... i love the feel of the road, and i lvoe the be in total control of my vehicle...

autos have their perks though, as long as there isnt some sort of rev limiter or fuel cutoff, its easier to accelerate with minimal slipage in an auto...

but ild rather be able to downshift and save my brakes, or leave it in a lower gear to push it to a higher rpm when i know im about to need it...

its all in what you need...

ChiZX 07-15-2003 10:54 AM

I've got an auto tranny...

I was originally going to get a manual, but my mother insisted I buy an auto for my safety. You know moms. In case of emergency, I want anyone to be able to drive my car. There are too many people (especially my friends) that don't know how to drive stick. I wouldn't want to be stuck somewhere because my car is stick and I couldn't drive it. Something to think about. Safety First!

Cheers,
ChiZX

An LX is no slower than an EX. EX just feels a bit more performance oriented only because it's engine is louder from VTEC.

Honda doesn't need an EX Civic, just an Si coupe. :p

Green Civic 07-15-2003 11:09 AM

Stick here. I love it. r0b2186, thats false. I live near New Orleans and there are many places for all that. Yes a lot are grannys, but the also have speed adicts and bumper lovers.
