Re: HID in TYC setup. With no projector conversion
okay lol so i won the clear lenses for $82 shipped. so there you go. i will post good comparison pics once i get em. hopefully i should also be getting a spare half broken tl projector to play with and tune. and im prolly gonna end up doing the retro myself with the $100 ebay depo clear headlamps. i think if i take the time it will come out okay. its just cutting and gluing. and i have a way to make sure they are aimed fairly well before putting on the car. now im still waiting for the 50w kit to come in which is getting me worried cause i havent heard back from him if it was shipped.

Awsome cant wait to see the pictures of the work. I was gonna post pictures of my HID install tonight but they are unadjusted and it is raining, blah. Most of you know anyways I just want them out there so others know what to expect. I also installed the Simota intake gear. I like it better than the weapon R. Much sturdier and it doesnt sound like you are going 80 at 20 mph, a tad lower tone.

Re: HID in TYC setup. With no projector conversion
make a thread with pics of the intake. that does look like a good design since air flows right inside from the front.

Re: HID in TYC setup. With no projector conversion
i learned my lesson, no more winter modding. spending 5 hrs outside with just a heatgun and a can of deicer (so i dont slip on the ice) in -10 degree weather installing speakers wasnt too fun haha

Re: HID in TYC setup. With no projector conversion
nice intake! im tempted to try it but my whole bay is modded to the wr intake so prolly next to impossible to rearrange it back the way it should be lol. i doubt i could even make a stock intake fit anymore all the bracket are gone and the fuse box wont go where it was anymore.

Re: HID in TYC setup. With no projector conversion. Video on pg 17!!
I hear ya bro. When I did the weapon R I just used the straight bracket that came with it and bent the **** out of it, almost to the same shape of the much sturdier bracket shipped with the Simota. I tried installing the fogs finally but they wont turn on...major dissapointment, but I did get some minor adjustments done to the headlights, not perfect it is getting there. Is there any way I can get the oem foglight wiring, like the inside part? My harness was all wrong and didnt have a bunch of the connectors that the instructions mentioned.

Mount the ballasts under the lip of the hood next to the strut towers with some sheet metal screws, a pilot hole may be needed, but thats where I put mine. It'll clear, and as long as you use sheet metal screws those ballasts will not budge.
That engine bay belongs to Falken for credit. Sorry the pic looks like ***, 100kb limit, but I believe it serves its purpose.

That is a good idea but i dont think the wires would have been long enough in my application. I have them mounted out of site now, wich is what I preffered. In the video I posted on pg 17 you can only see the zip ties from where I mounted them. I will trim them tomorrow.
Re: HID in TYC setup. With no projector conversion. Video on pg 17.
As long as your happy with where they are, and they are securely fastened thats all that really matters. Get some night time pics up I wanna see what they look like in the dark. You also mentioned in the video that the glare looked bad on the vid but not in person that has to do with the glass I believe. Try looking at them from another car also behind glass and see if the glare re-appears, which is what will really matter.

West Imports here had a thread where he was selling them. Do a search on Simota and the thread should pop up :-D. Yeah I really like this one too.
Joe: I actually didn't think of that, that is a good idea. I will have to give that a shot. I was going to take night time pics last night but left the phone home and got lazy lol

yup pics of the whole process including testing, best beam, mounting and cutting reflector, etc. and aiming before they go on the car. im gonna make sure its done slowly and accurately this time instead of stuffing it all in like last time. the whole thing should only be costing me around $600 and thats with everything basically brand new assuming i dont mess up

Re: HID in TYC setup. With no projector conversion. Video on pg 17.
woohoo! ups dropped in to deliver the hid kit. 4 day shipping from china! sweet. opened it up, i see two d2s bulbs with "4300k 50w" on the outside and im hoping they are actually that color lol. the bases are really nice, instead of the metal clips found on oem bulbs, these bulb have a fully potted base to hold in the capsule. the ballasts are the traditional AMP connector style and say 50W on the front. he also included a pair of the AMP to D2S conversion cables. and some mounting brackets for the ballasts. they also have the connectors that go to the ballast for power and ground, but no real wire harness (for $120, i wasnt expecting one anyway). cant wait to try them out!
