I already had regret for the 1,500 on the macbook....I was like ****....could have been nitrous, or a chunk for a turbo setup.

its all the same. get the cheapest kit you can find and hope for the best. there is really no quality kit anymore, all the oem stuff got pulled off after the ban. or just get oem hardware to be safe. you can even use d2s bulb in h4 housing using the casper electronics conversion shields (for 01-03 civic).

okay well its official. someone on hidplanet did a comparison of zkw lens vs the replica on ebay for $80 and they looked exactly the same brightness, just a very small cutoff color difference. so no need to waste $ on real zkw lenses.

replicas were made by a company for this specific purpose to use as a clear tl lens. so technically its "aftermarket" accessory lol. i doubt the price would go up, if anything its gone down. the lens prolly only costs maybe 20 to make. so even around 80 he makes money.

its from a few different ones. but its easy to tell because the projector has a plastic bowl thats usually yellowish and the lens is clear.
well here are the final results from all my bulb tests. my setup will end up being 50w ballasts using the non-automotive type philips DL50 hi power bulbs. just requires a simple mod of the projector to fit the bulbs properly. here is the difference stock vs boosted output, same exposures. this is the brightest setup out of everything tested. second brightest was 50w ballast running 35w philips bulb, and third was 50w kit bulb running on 50w ballast. last was oem everything being the dimmest. this is pic of the hi beam mode.

hidplanet, from some guy but i looked around and cheapest i could find online is $145 per bulb. its for appliances or something lol. its the focusline of philips bulbs. i paid 100 for the pair brand new i think. if they die i can always just run 35w bulbs on 50w ballast, there is still quite a good increase over stock 35w ballast. i wont even post the kit 50w bulb because those got way too hot and gave worse performance than the philips 35w bulb which ran alot cooler (but still hotter than 35w ballast).
here is stock

boosted 85122+

and the DL50w bulbs again

That's the reason why I went with the boosted 85122+ rather than the 50w bulbs that came with the kit. The 85122+ were brighter than the 50w. DL50 would be nice, but damn $145 per bulb is way to much money for bulbs.

here is what the 50w kit bulbs looked like. bad focal point aside, the output plain sucks and they get way too hot.

Re: HID in TYC setup. With no projector conversion. Video on pg 17.
just got the $100 chrome ebay headlamps. not too bad i guess, some spots where the chrome is not great, but overall it will do the job. and lenses are superb lol. these lights are weird, it has the clear reflector which i prolly will remove, and also a "clear" version of the amber insert instead of nothing. i guess for the side turn signal bulb colluminator. i may leave that on, and just take the reflector off. we will see... also has a very good black sealer around the edges, so hopefully the oven will work to soften it enough.

full chrome
just taking out the reflector piece. and my 4-chip 80ma superflux style leds just got here from bhk. those are going in the sidemarkers sometime when i get the time to redo them. 2 regular superflux is not enough. hopefully i can fit 5 of the new ones.
