Re: headlight help

Here is some information already on the forum.

https://www.civicforums.com/forums/1...hts-worth.html

https://www.civicforums.com/forums/1...ghts-help.html

Just flipping through the forums I'd say that the wiring should be all the same for the headlights and if it's not it should all be included with it. Another thing I learned is that ebay headlights also seem to suck as in they allow moisture inside, turn yellow, are dead on arrival, or die shortly after install, and aren't very bright. You could always black out your OEM headlights with the DIY ( https://www.civicforums.com/forums/1...r-removal.html ) and you will have cool lights that you know work well and project light well! Plus save yourself a ton of cash that you could spend on beer, or tools, or more toys.

yes its all true i would have projectors now if the light output wasn't so horrible .if you do purchase them go around the edges with clear silicon so it won't leak.

Re: headlight help

I think the only thing you that needs to be rewired would be the angle eye portion of those head lights. I think you can just splice them into the parking lights. Should be like two black and white wires. The rest are converted for the H4 sockets and should have no problem fitting i think

Re: headlight help

those projectors suck so much. putting hid in them will destroy the insides and i doubt it would be any brighter than halogen, if not dimmer.

Re: headlight help

Does anyone happen to know off hand if the TYC projectors have an adjustment for the low-beam projector part? I have the high-beams dialed in just right, but the low-beams are off a little bit. Drivers side is slightly low and left. Thanks.

yeah, aside from the slightly ****-eyed beam, I've had good luck with them. They haven't leaked, even through constant Portland rain and shitty winters, and so far I haven't had any discoloration.
I'm tempted to try going with HIDs, but I'm not sure if I'll end up melting the housing. It seems they may be alright, as I read in an earlier post.

Re: headlight help

the lo beam has a bolt in the back you can turn to adjust them. you can easily install an hid projector, audi/valeo d2s or bosch/e46 are the smaller ones and will fit no problem.

Thanks for the info Gearbox! Do the hid projectors require any fabrication/modification, or do they just bolt right in? Damn I love DIY!!

Re: headlight help

they bolt right in. i used to have tyc and sonar. you must remove them from the car tho to be able to turn the bolt and adjust them. i got mine aimed pretty well... these are the older v1 projectors with the blue cutoff. newer ones dont have color.

Re: headlight help

i have those ebay projector / halo style headlights.

i like them alot, i've never been a fan of the HID scene for the simple fact that every kid and their mom with a car on the road flashes their brights at you thinking that yours are on.

don't get me wrong the light output isn't as good as OEM but they do look pretty sick when i roll into parking lots at night in front of people with just my parking lights and hyper blue street glow kit on...they go hand in hand if you have blue underglow

those headlights are strictly for looks...and the wiring isn't so bad. since they're the ebay ones they actually came with 2 RED WIRES (confusing as hell)...so you have to figure out which one is ground and power...usually stripping the copper ends and putting them on your battery will figure that out pretty quick.

as far as installing the wires i got a Voltometer and figured out which wires ran my parking lights (first switch on the light column) so that after splicing it the halo rings are on during the day and at night.

good luck with it.

NICE! Thanks for all that. I'm gonna use your photo as an aiming guide. How far back from the wall are you? That's gonna be my project this weekend after I figure out from where I'm leaking power steering fluid. I think the hose got stupid. Woke up this morning with fluid all over the garage floor and the reservoir WAY low...

Re: headlight help

park 25 ft away from the wall on flat ground. then aim each side by using the left side of the cutoff. first measure the distance from the ground up to the projector part of the headlight. then measure that same distance at the wall and mark it. your left side of each beam should be 2-3 inches below the mark you made on the wall.

Re: headlight help

Sweet, thanks for that. I'm gonna work on that this weekend after I switch out the leaking power steering pump hose. I think it got rubbed on the pulley when I had it off the bracket the other day, put a nice gash in the hose.
I'll post a pic of the beams like yours, so you can see what you think.

yes. most larger projectors will not fit since space is limited.
