Re: Wiring Neons...need help..............

if you were good at wiring then you wouldnt be asking this. run a wire from the dome light to the neons or from the fuse of the dome light.

btw neons = RICER lol

Re: Wiring Neons...need help..............

ya who cares? i have red lights under the seat but theyre leds. for dome light it was a real pain and what i ended up doing is tapping the wires right at the actual dome light. i tried all the wires in the driver side pillar and couldnt find the right one. when you remove the dome light assembly you will see the wires underneath. the hard part is running new wire from there down to the neons.

Re: Wiring Neons...need help..............

Anyway you can actually hook the LED's or Neons up to the door nipple?

Re: Wiring Neons...need help..............

Use a relay.. tap the dome light to activate the lights.. if you need more power, then tap off the dome light. I've been meaning to do this... I have the lights too, but just couldnt find a decent mounting location under the front dash where you couldnt see them.

Re: Wiring Neons...need help..............

door trigger is setup differently. theres only one wire to the nipple and the actual piece is grounded to the car body. and i think the polarity is reversed. i think it stays on when the door is closed or something and turns on when open.

Re: Wiring Neons...need help..............

Okay because i was wondering if you could just hook them up to the door nipple because if you haven't read my other posts, my dome lights don't turn on when i open the doors, which i guess is because I don't have the stock head unit.

Re: Wiring Neons...need help..............

Your headunit shouldnt have anything to do with if your dome light comes on or not... did someone hook up your headunit that had absolutely no idea what they were doing or something? Is the bulb burnt out.. use an voltage meter to check if there is any current going to the dome light wire when door is opened/closed.

On topic... yet slightly off... can you guys post pics of exactly where and how you mounted your lights (if under the dash for the footwells of the front seats) ...maybe I need to ditch my neons and get a flexable strip of leds?

Re: Wiring Neons...need help..............

According to all the posts on this form, that's why my dome lights don't turn on when i open the door. I guess because the stock headunit controlled keyless entry and enabled dome lights to turn on when door opens.

Re: Wiring Neons...need help..............

Haha actually i don't have keyless entry. It's just the dome lights don't turn on when i open either door because i don't have the stock head unit- told from multiple people on here that's why....
I just need to figure out something
