97 DX Non Vtec

SO i bought a 97 dx 5 speed off of a friend of mine because i needed a car. the previous owner was a highschool auto kid so this car is a disaster. i have fixed a bunch of little things ( like turn signals inop- hazard switch wasn't plugged in. windows didn't work- regulator and a pass. window switch, ect.)

but the major thing that threw me off was the VTEC valve cover, the 2 VTEC DTC codes, the 2 loose connectors for the solenoid and pressure switch, but no solenoid. it's not there.
Also, the distributor in the vehicle is the wrong one, i have spare wires left over after the new distributor was "wired" in.

my question is, would it be worth it to buy a D16Y7 head with VTEC and correct distributor, get a non VTEC PCM, or just say **** it and let it ride?

I suppose the way to look at is can you afford to put another engine in it ? if you can id say do it and make it right. but if your needing transportation right now then do what you gotta do and ride.

No vtech solenoid? Sounds like it was swapped with lx engine but computer is looking for ex. A value cover from a vtech will fit on a non vtech .. it looks good with vtech logo on the valve cover. Thats a cheap way to sell a civic for more $
