jesus, 25lbs of boost is INSANE!
when I do it, I'm gonna go the NA route. the respect with honda engines comes from the fact that they're NA.
I'm gonna just beef up the engine going the NA route. it'll be a lot safer, too.
then again, if you get all the shiznit that guy has, I guess even 25lbs of boost can be safe
hehehehe
nuts!!!

yah its a crazy set up. Tek im excited for u to research more....i think if u actually do it...its gonna be slick. I wanan see how much can be pumped out with stricly engine mods. Are u gonna get the type r one or type s?? i saw ur thread but its too technical for me...whats the difference in terms i would understand!!!

player: those are the 14 channel ones....the motorolla's are 14 channels, but then there are 6 sub-channels within each channel, and I think there are 3 different security codes for each sub-channel as well
hehehehe
so...they will work great for what we're using them for, but it only gives us 14 choices, as opposed to 84
then again, for half the price, I'd get the sylvania's!!!
------
Baller: yeah, I'm leaning on the type-S. with all the sweet info people have given me about the type-R vs. type-S, I know what route I'm going to take.
here's the plan:
K20A2 (type-S)
6 - Speed tranny, and swap in the type-R final drive gear
Quaife LSD for the front
toda cams
mugen ECU
port & polish
header (the spoon dual pipe sick beast)
aem cam gears
intake manifold (not sure who makes one yet--haven't looked into it)
toda high compression pistons + con rods + rings + valve springs
yo'momma in the backseat to keep me company.
hehehe
the cheapest thing in the entire setup will be the last item
hehehe jk
all's this will take is TIME. the TIME needed to save up all the dough!
it WILL happen, though
if it doesn't, it's because I've gotten bored with it, and I'm going to be buying an EVO from japan
hehehehe
although the evo would let me destroy anything and everything on the streets (with some tuning, of course), it wouldn't be as much fun as a civic, because I'd have WAY fewer people to run with
the civic is the ultimate car to pimp-out, because there are so many of us
that's why I think I'll hang onto my baby as long as I can!
anywho, I'll stop rambling now.
time to get some work done...first time in a couple weeks
hehehe
OH YEAH: harnesses came in! woot woot! after isntalling them into my buddies WRX, I am DEFINITELY going to wait until I get my seats to install them
hehehe MAN, what a pain in the ***!
anyways, NOW I'm done.
honestly.
no, seriously, I'm done

Array: you only lose the backseat if the harness is in use.
if you're taking passengers, the harness will unbuckle and dangle, so that the back seat can be used.
this is a bit hard to explain. you'll just have to see it
I think I'll install the back seat portion of it tonight, and wait until my seats come in to install the front part of the harness.
they are seriously SICK, though. you CANNOT move around in the seat at all!!! it's SO SWEET
you're held nice and tight, so you don't have to use your legs and the steering wheel to keep you in place!
sweetness!
i just need my seats and I'll be all set
mmm...seats and harness...
Edit: check it out...this is what I bought (plus the adjusting grips, and shoulder pads): http://www.soloracer.com/soloracerdotcom/rallye4.html
Edit again: I got everything in black with grey letters. I didn't wanna be too ricey. I want this for function, rather than form.

tek: yah that setup is sounding pretty nice. Why dont u just bolt on a supercharger and call it a day! The n/a route is very respected by people who know that is easy to just throw a turbo on, but it takes more research and planning to pump it up without FI. Either way youre gonna have a very fast car...and im gonna steal it....so dont you worry about it!! And as for my momma.....i will bust yo *** down sucka.....belie dat! What is ur projected cost for the swap?? U gonna put all the parts on before u swap the engine? It might be cheaper on installation costs, but it will be alot of dough to fork out right out of the gate. Ur probably lookin at around 8 grand huh?? That including most of the parts?? I wish i had a job...but if i can get myself to save, i think in 2 years i might be lookign at the same thing you are. I would probably still be living at home so most of my money could go to the car! How much do u think u could sell the old engine for?? 1 g??

our crappy engines MIGHT go for $500...if you're lucky
I'd keep my stock engine, though. it will have less than 150K on it by the time I do the swap (I hope), and they're good for 300+ (I hope).
but I'm planning on saving at LEAST 8K. I was going to lean more towards saving 10K, getting a front clip, and seeing how much extra's I could slam in at once
I'm going to do the intake and header right when I get the engine, but I'd also like to do the cams and ECU too. seeing as the ECU needs to be swapped in anyways. but...who knows. I need to sit down and price it all out first. it'll probably be upwards of around 10K or more...but I can do it piece by piece...no sense in rushing it!
I'll do the engine/tranny/LSD/intake/header all at once, then worry about the internals shortly thereafter.
mmm...internals.
can't wait!
but I promised myself I would pay off one of my school loans first
hehehe
so I gotta pay that off first (shouldn't take too long), and THEN start saving for the engine swap!
I'd give it about a year or so before the swap is feasible. but, by then I will be able to take my time and do it right!
it'd be fun to smoke the hatchbacks that have dumped the civic type-R engines from japan into their rides
muwahahahahahaha
that, and smoking mustangs is my ultimate goal
hehehehe

TeK: Unless I read wrong, I suggest doing as much of the internals first. Think of the trouble and $$$ you'll save not having to rip it open again. Dis is my plan fo sure.
Now you got me all confused about which engine I want dammit!
