^^^ this is yet another good point. Simplicity is key to this. A lot of us seem to be on the same page of a safe "ghettoturbo".
Paul I think you're going to get a lot of info out of the crowd of "normal" people wanting to do this, and I think its really going to help you out, so I commend you for asking this and opening up to suggestions.

Same goes with the TSI fuel system. Another cheap, yet working, alternative.

Just an idea on how to get everything a little cheaper...
Both are mere Fuel Enrichment systems, not actual fuel systems like ours. It is a band aid for a mortal wound.

Thanks boiler. I mean we have always kind of catered to this crowd from day one. We are looking to remain as 7thgen kings, and this how we had to break it down to get the feedback we wanted.

I don't think you should scrap the current turbo kit for the new one. Your kit is awesome. The only reason I didn't buy it is because I went custom before you released it. Next Spring I plan on changing my current setup with your EL manifold and a T3/T4 turbo and hopefully your intake manifold if it ever comes out, which I hope it does. Anyway good luck with everything.

Keep your kit. Offer the ghetto version as an option. I love the fact that you offer the turbo, downpipe, and exhaust mani as a beginner kit. When I get some cash saved thats the first thing Ill get.

Another thing you could do is no intercooler. Offer a simple water/alcohol injection option.

I understand that you want to put out quality products but most people just see price and thats enough to change their minds.

Keep your quality kit, and give the fools the option to buy the inferior products from you. Cause we all know if you dont sell it someone else will.

I know your putting your name on this and it means it has to reflect you, but be reasonable. A kit that is maxed out at 7psi, offers fast spooling, and minimal fab will get way more interest. Once you get them hooked they can start upgrading the setup and they will come to you.

^^you sound like the local pusha-man LOL....

but he does have a point....a quick-spoolin kit that puts out approx 150 to the wheels for around 2k seems like a much more viable option than a kit costing 4 grand with which i may be tempted into doing serious damage to my motor....and if that isn't enough, there's always the ability to upgrade, and then im back to square one, sending you more of my hard-earned cashish, hooked on boost and i know of no facility to rehad that addiction...

Why not a kit like this?
  • t-25 journal bearing turbo
  • no intercooler
  • mild steel log manifold
  • mild steel discharge piping
  • mild steel downpipe
  • cheap BOV
  • no fuel system (recommend your fuel kit)

i would still want the t3/t4 and an intercooler. i mean for 8 psi the intercooler should be small anyway, so a smaller one would make sense wouldn't it? i still think the EL manifold should be an option.

Im thinking a hks manifold could be bought more easily compared to the cost of fab/r&d of a custom log. But maybe im wrong. But I like the way you think!

i think the problem is that they are paying so much for a turbo that wont be used to its full potential unless they pretty much double that cost for internals and what/not. you can get the same numbers on a stock motor with a t25 as you can with a t3/super 60 (on stock engine). the only difference is the t3 can go much further if you pocket is deep enough. also the t25 will spool up quicker to make daily driving more fun for everyone. i think that the t3 kit should either be a made to order special order kit and the t25 should be the base in stock kit. or just axe the t3 kit and let it be known you could get one if someone needs it.
and if you ever get an EL mani for a t25 let me know because if i can replace the cast tsi mani ive got with that ill be very interested.

^ 4psi on the t3 or a t25? on a t3 thats a decent amount but on a t25 thats a decent waste of money.

exactly.

Low boost doesnt require an intercooler.

It is just an "introductory turbo system". Basically something for people who are just starting out in the performance world, and people who simply dont have the cash to spend now, but can upgrade later.

Then you can have an intercooler upgrade kit, turbo upgrade, manifold upgrade, etc, etc, etc.

I understand that you want to put out quality products but most people just see price and thats enough to change their minds.
Dezod, as you can see, inexpencive, is a key word.
As someone said, keep your current kit as an alternative(you sweat on it, and it it a shame to scrap it now). Dont stock this kits, but made them to order. This will free up some tied cash.
Have cheap alternative available that can be installed by an amateur easily = savings. As t.engineer said, one with no intercooller.

Food for thought:
HKS manifold - $150 or less at napa
t-25, floating bearring, internal WG - $400
XS bov - $100
2" Dezod downpipe - $150
Air filter - $50
Dezod charge pipes - $200??
Missing link - $70
SF fuel system - $200
Mechanical boost controller - $20
-----------------------
@ 5 psi ~ 130-140 whp of fun - PRICELESS!

Without this set up can push 5 psi on a sunny day
or you can probably get away with pushing 7 psi in Norhtern Canada.

Dezod, hide some profit in this kit (has to be done!)
And it will sell like hotcakes, trust me!

hey dezod. i think if you were to lower the price some it would interest alot more people. like me. im 17 and saving up 3-4 thousand dollars is a rediculous thought. id have to take out a loan to get that kind of money. especially since you have to tune it after you get it and ****. that brings the cost up to like 5 thousand dollars. not too many people are willing to pay that kind of money for a turbo'd civic. i do know that your kit is like the best one on the market for our cars and all that but if you made it possible for people on a smaller budget that arent looking to get 3 and 4 hundred horsepower out of there car im sure you'd have alot more potential buyers. if you had a full turbo kit for cheap that would run like 150 hp i'd be buying one. its alot harder to save up 3500 dollars at one time but if i could get a kit for like 2 grand and just build up the kit that would be the sell point for me. not everyone wants to go turbo for the high horsepower i just love the feeling when the turbo kicks in. and the blow off valve shoots off.

Dezod:

the idea of an big expensive turbo kit that can wreck your engine and needs constant attention is, i think anyways, what turns 80% of people away from boost in the first place. i know NOTHING about turbos or kits at all, but if there was somewhat of a learner kit, which seems to be what everyone is talking about, i think a lot more people would buy this stuff from you.

more people buying = more profit

even if it costs half of what your kit costs now (again, dont know about costs of this stuff) you would get so many more loyal customers, which would get more of your product out there, and have everyone comin back for more once they have more $$$

i just think it would be a smart move to have like a "starter" kit and to keep your "kick all the other cars a$$es" kit to cater to both crowds and broaden your range of customers

dezod, if you make a kit that can put to the wheels 140-150 hp for $ 2,200 or 2,600. I'm the first one to buy it. I think almost everyone here wants a little bit more hp without sacrificing the d17 and our money, maybe a turbo kit that pulls 6-7psi?

yup im saving. tired of being the slowest car on the road. if my car gets fixed, i'll get a kit next summer. all i want is low boost like 4psi max, but i do want it to be reliable also so I would pay a lil extra for better fuel system and some jet coating for the manifold.
