well its all pipes. you can have them anodized to look nice. engine doesn't need to come out i don't think. and yea if you have a wideband 02 sensor, you can give it a rough tune but i'm not sure how practical that is but you should be able to at least keep the fuel high enough even if the curve is wavy.

well yea stock exhaust kills any kind of power after 5.5k rpm. the hp curve just shoots down. Heck even an axleback would be fine. The stock muffler is the biggest restriction, but having a catback would help with turbo too.
