OK. I was wrong.

"Dyno Results: Our AUTO transmission 2001 Civic EX made 90 WHP & 84 WTQ prior to turbo, and after the addition of our turbo kit made 146.7 WHP & 121.9 FT/LBS of WTQ @ circa 8 PSI w/ a T3 Super 60 turbo, on 93 Octane (no additives or sprays & running a fully functional catalytic converter on the down pipe) on a 76 degree day in Buffalo, NY. That is a 63% power increase, and a 45% torque increase at the wheels on a mere 8 PSI on a stock motor, automatic transmission vehicle. 5 Speed vehicles can expect an additional 15-25% more power. " Dezod Motorsports - http://dezod.com/pd_dezod_motorsports.cfm

If people are wanting 150hp with the new kit they might as well buy this one. It's on sale and seems more reliable. Turbo is expensive in anyway so why not get your moneys worth and buy a real kit.. My opinion. I know all of you are looking for a cheap way to turbo but don't you think you're going to run into more problems this way?

the new kit is only designed for people who want a little more kick out of their car. And i do believe that the new econo kit will only put out about 4-5p.s.i. So i don't think more problems will arise out of the econo kit, everything works well if installed and tuned properly

Those figures were from our version 1 kit with a mild tune. Now, we are on version 3 with refinements and modifications. Several members own our version 3. The other thread has a 4dr civic with it.

That's with a mild tune. I'm guessing for this new kit that's going to come out you're going to need major tuning ( tuning = more money ) to get to 150hp like you all want.

With a mild tune and an AUTOMATIC
How much do you expect to make through the wheels through a slushbox?
Thats still gotta be a 50HP increase at the wheels. I wouldn't consider that shabby.
Not to mention that was the original prototype kit, which I'm sure has been refined and cleaned up in the... I dunno, year, since it was first released.

you don't wanna go that route unless you start becoming a mechanic. its gonna cause way too much grief. you gotta start building the motor if you're going for 200.

It's all about the tune. I made a thread over a year ago about the importance of tuning.

i stil can't understand why its so hard to make a computer that will tune on the fly by itself. plug it in, and every mod you add it adjusts for and sets a perfect tune. Factory ecus do it to an extent, why is it so hard to make?

Hard and expensive. I know ecu go for next to nothing on here but goto the dealer and ask it is atleast a k to replace. A ecu or piggy back that can sense and ajust for mods I would say would be atleast 2k.

no hes asking for a computer that will recognize new mods and self-tune to perfection without him having to do anything. almost how your pc will recognize new hardware and configure settings for you.
but that would require so many sensors everywhere, plus somebody would have to know what parameters to program into the ROM of the ecu. if they ever made one i would estimate a 4 grand price for what it does and they would need tons of new sensors that would need wiring and custom fab mounting. its unnescasary when you can just get the ems and retune it once you get the new part.

yes we all know tuning is very important. its been said like a thousand times on this forum. what im wondering is if i, a street smart kid with plenty of common sense and i know alot about cars, can tune the car to be driveable after i install the turbo and like an emanage or vafc2 or somthing like that. do you have to have everything installed and dyno'd at the same time or can you tune it well enough to drive it for a couple weeks without getting a big time tune?
also do you have to take the engine out of the car to install a turbo kit? from what i've seen it looks like you could do it without taking the engine out.
another thing is i was checking out my friends turbo setup on his celica and he's a top mount intercooler. i was thinking about it and wouldnt there be more room for an intercooler on top rather than in our bumper? especially since our throttle body is right there. im just wondering so dont flame me if i've overlooked somthing.

whats the difference between charged piping and normal piping? (like our cold air intake's piping)

well its all pipes. you can have them anodized to look nice. engine doesn't need to come out i don't think. and yea if you have a wideband 02 sensor, you can give it a rough tune but i'm not sure how practical that is but you should be able to at least keep the fuel high enough even if the curve is wavy.
