I have a 2001 Civic EX 5 speed 4dr. What kind of engine would I want to get the most speed? I hear all this crap about the B series and the K series is the best and then theres an H and blah blah blah. Could you gear heads help me and point me in the right direction

now im wondering which to go with if i do the swap instead of a turbo. The rsx type s or the jspec type r. On jspec motors they have a type r rsx motor for 5600 plus shipping( included are complete motor, block, intake manifold, complete head, sensors, exhaust manifold, fuel rail, injectors, distrubotor, throttle body, alternator, starter, ignition wires, a/c compressor, power steering pump, headers, obd2 ecu, tranny, driveshafts, intermediate shafts, stock engine mounts, and wiring harness). My question is will the usdm type s subframe work with this motor and besides a kpro were there any more parts i would have to buy for the jspec motor to work. Or am I better off getting a usdm type s motor and getting all those parts u guys listed? Maybe Im just better off money wise building the d17a2 and running a turbo? Im just trying to weigh my options and make an informed decision that Im not gonna regret later. Thanx any help is appreciated.

by a type-s motor and find a k24 block, mate the head to the block and there you have it, the best swap set-up for you vic. Just my opinion though, im kinda bias. i only say the type-s motor because it is cheaper, and the tranny is better for the torque of the k24. i just need a quaife lsd but i still beat anyone i have raced, including an rsx with a k20a ITR motor with crower stage 2 cams and valve train and my buddies wrx with up-pipe, down-pipe intake exhaust and ecutek tune. these were both from a stop as welland no lsd for me (first gear is worthless). torque owns, lol. good luck, boost is nice, just more options and potential with a k-series.

I don't know if the k20a can be legalized ... theoretically it can be, but nobody has done it yet ... so that is open for debate. Same goes with the k20a2 ... nobody has legalized it yet ... though it is a much easier motor to legalize than its jdm version.

I'm 99% sure the k20a2 and k20a3's can be legalized pretty easily in california.

well with my swap in my car i just passed smog/safety check in the las vegas area... but then again i dont know how hard emissions are in cali

Quick questionnaire, not hate or flame, just answer plz, I don’t have time to research right now on this as I am doing college ****, 60 page research essay, etc.

1.Can a LSD from either the rsx-s or the 06 Si be put into an 04 vic?
2.The k20z3, new 06Si engine, it is same as type-s, etc. So it works with the mounts for the k20a2?

i believe the accord has a different case. k24's have different cases so the hasport mounts dont work. if anything use an ep3 trans or base rsx trans case and swap in tsx gears. that is the perfect setup for a k24. i have a k24 with ep3 1st and 2nd, tsx 3rd, rsx 4th and 5th and tsx 6th with quaife lsd. it is awesome. good launching abilities and great midrange and tsx 6th for cruising.

Yeah I believe you... but my friend didn't want to put so much money in a tranny... they get the k24 for a cheap price..

So thank a lot... We gonna fit the hasport mount

I gonna remake the lower plate of the mount.... you know the top part is bolted in the lower plate...I have an access to everything for make a good job (sorry I don't know the name in english)

Finnaly we gonna swap with a 6speed a2 tranny... less labor for better

But someone here ever swap a k24 with is ecu...

I inspect the wiring and I thought i'not gonna have the MIL pluggued...

This is the cable TB system... not a drive by wire

you need the k20a, k20a2 or the k20a3 ecu with a hondata kpro program on it for you to use the k24 motor properly.

So I use the stock head... The ECU surelly gonna make is engine work propelly...

So the only trouble I see for now is about the MIL... because de Accord ECu is design for give the information to the cluster with only 2 wire... like the multiplex language. but the civic cluster work with individula wire...

But the rest seen to be wired up finely ...

u are supposed to use the type s or ep engine harness.. not the accord engine harness... from there wire up the engine harness according to my DIY.. then when you use the ecu it has to be one of the ecu's i stated earlier

well first of all

1. the ecu pinout is different on the k24 ecu compared to the k20 pinout.

2. in respects to #1 since it has different pinouts the k24 harness has different wirings then the type-s harness.

3. to get hondata kpro you need a k20 ecu.. either a k20a,k20a2, or k20a3 with the kpro program on it.

4. once the kpro program is loaded you can tune the motor no matter what the setup is in the car.

5. your typical k24 setup consists of the k24a2 or k24a1 block with a k20a2 or k20a head.

if your performance oriented then you should be getting a k24a2(tsx) which is the better of all 4 different types of k24 motors.

just remember this though...the k24a2 and k24a1 will both except a k20 head with out internals mods.

the k24a3 and k24a4 will need internal work done if you swap the head because of valve to piston clearance. they will make contact

Ok but...I swap this for a guy didn't really want to have 250 whp... He just get a k24a3 Accord for a cheap price and find it better than the D17 modified...

So the pinout is different... but I just plugged it differentely. He didn't want to drop a k20 head or a Kpro in a near future...

So the RAA ECU is the better way again to make the swap for a resonable price...why pay 1500$ for a Kpro and RSX ECU, when we already have the Accord one...

I ever swap a K20a2 in my Civic and the k24a3 is more complicated... but this is only bout the wiring and engine mount ... I gonna give some feedback about running the k24a3 with is ECU....

well u might have some problems because for one the accord ecu will be throwing a CEL because it will be looking for the drive by wire which you cant use on our cars.. the only way around it is to use a k20 ecu.. the other thing is that all you are going to be on your own cause your going to need the clip C101 pinout which is the in-dash harness and then from there your going to need the accord ecu pinout.... then your going have to wire the in-dash harness with the engine harness.. then wire in the relay for the primary o2 sensor.. then wire in the primary o2 sensor.. then wire in the secondary o2 sensor relay.. then wire in the secondary o2 sensor... then your need to reflash the ecu to reprogram the key so that way you can bypass the immobolizer.. if you dont bring the car down to a dealer to reflash the ecu when the cars done then the car wont start..

if you had a hondata kpro you can skip doing the immobolizer and secondary o2 sensor wiring.. because it will let you bypass those 2 things


note** - $1500 is the price of kpro with the ecu... some people think thats the price without the ecu just in case anyones wondering
