'Key, you do not seem to be a troll, so good.
Anyway, i have driven the Neon, larger engine and more torque, but not as high-revving.
Handling wise, very good, you can also see lots of them in racing competition, as well as the civics (more CRX's than civic's but similar).
The neon are best known in the rally, though.
So, bottom line i would say that the Neon is not a bad car, same as the civic's. Each one have its own characteristics, though (which is much better than having no characteristics, like the toyota's, BTW).
Seek some suspension mods, but get the right ones, not something out of the cheapest site, look for some neon sites, i guess, we will not know what is good for you.

good luck finding the room to put a v8 in a neon and still retain it's driveability.
i plan on going n/a for now, and possibly turbo in the future, but not too sure really. and this car is going to be my DD for now, i'll probably get another one to work on if i can find one i like.

And if cam timing is tunned, it will pull alot stronger up to redline, add some bigger cams along with that, and you really do alot to overcome that problem.
I plan on lowering it a lil bit, but I don't want it slammed, or raked, that'll come after the 2,4 build.

i find it very hard to beleive that you don't like any honda's. i like the chrysler Me 412. if someone offered me one i'd love it! you're saying you wouldn't like a s2000, nsx or even the new hsv (especially the hsv it's gorgeous and they don't make them for civil use)?

Noob question: how much power will a 2.4 swap get you?

Speak for yourself.
Honestly I wouldn't be caught dead in that car not because it's inexpensive or economical but just plain poorly maintained. The paints all faded and crappy and the interior looks like a 20 yr old taxi cab. All power to you though if you are going to restore it. Just do it tastefully.

if the speak for your self part is about us driving small cars, i know, my car is smaller, i'm just saying that we aren't out racing corvettes or anything, no offence to you guys that not tawrods myself also.
but the interior is going to get 2nd gen R/T seats (front and rear), or SRT-4 seats if i can find a good deal on them. with black carpet, headliner, and pannels.
and its not a noob question, i've asked around, alot of other people have asked around, but no one has really just taken a stock 2.4 in a neon and dyno-ed it. but i know some people who have gotten to 200 hp fairly easily with a 2.4 N/A build.
in a stock stratus, it's rated at like 155-160 hp. so, assuming that my neon was completely stock, and i used the 2.0 (stock) cams, and doing the aprox math, looking at like 130-140 whp.
and there's things that you have to take into consideration, like me rebuilding it, and neons have a bigger cat back stock, and i have intake, and soon a new muffler (btw, mine is rusty as hell, that's why im getting new one).
oh and yeah, the paint issue is a crystler thing. if you see a NYG with good looking paint, it's not original.

Yeah, the rebuild kit has a couple of options as far as compression, thats one thing I'm still looking into.

Ah. I see now. It looks like I am going to be rebuilding my civic as well. It seems I have bad oil rings in my No.2 Piston! I am going to cam it out, so I am going to raise it to 12:1 compression. Getting forged rods and pistons. I am going to wait a month or two so I have the money. I runs good for now, once it warms up. I think you should cam your neon also. There is nothing like the sound of a high compression cammed out engine! Turbos require more modding anyway.

stage 3 ones.=]
with adjustable cam gears, not sure on which ones.
been deciding on more specific things lately, like-
-Unorthadox udp
-Egr block off.
-Modern performance 55mm throttle body
-mopar performance ECU
-Probably heddman header
-and possibly even an INDY intake manifold.

finally replaced my stock muffler!!!
it was rusted horribly, looked like it had been shot with bird shot, and it had a really raspy airy sound, and i hated it.
but now i have it replaced with a dynomax performance exhaust!
it sounds nice and quiet, and may have added a few horses, but prolly not anything considerable.
i likes it alotz.
looks pretty sleeper/unricey, and that's what i'm going for.

dood the other day i thought i saw a really nice neon. it was deep blue and had a nice bodykit and hood scoop. but then i noticed the subaru yellow star on it. i guess it was an older wrx or something when they had rounded front lights like the neon. but anyway it looked good, so i can't wait to see yours when you're done!

They let you get overtime? Psssh. The CEOs at my PoS job would have a heart attack if I got OT. They flipped out when I got half an hour. I can't imagine what would happen if I got 20 hours. Keep us posted.

I work an average of 35 hours of OT a week most of the year, when its busy sometimes i push 60 hours of OT a week. Whenever I have a new kid working with me I always make sure I work at least a 20 hour day, just to see if they can handle it. I also take 2 university courses every semester.
I have a broken leg, so I'm finally getting a chance to catch up on some sleep right now!

Interesting fodder fellas...
so anti...not a dodge fan.
Owned an avenger many years ago...well they don't make thewm any more for a reason!
Good luck with your project though. I never hate on anyone with a plan, but you better have a good psrt time job to bring that back.

alot of the best neons i've seen are from canada, they were really popular there too.
the only difference from the american model, and the canadian model, is that the headlights come on when you let the parking brake off of the canadian model.lol
but here's what i've been working on today.
i knew i was gonna have a little bit of free time today, so here's what i started.
i was really getting tired of seeing this first thing, everytime i got in my car
it's just one of those little things to do to make it look better.
it's going to be matte black when it's dried, and i also picked up some matte clear coat.
i will post pics when i'm done, along with my vc, that is also done in flat black.
oh yeah, and with NYG being the main color for this car, i'm going to do flat black for the rest of it, like wiper arms (might get those done tonight), wheels, eventually full interior....hopefully.

during waiting for paint to dry in between coats, i got bored...you know that you saw this coming....
ardon:
couldn't help myself
but here's the results of my labor
and here's the wiper blade holders.
and the temoprary vc job.
and the sway bar i did.
i did like 5 black and 5 clear coats really thick, because i know this would be subject to alot of things that would cause rust.

Re: My Anti-Civic
depends on the soup dood, lol. like dove's ph is basic but those ones that burn your eyes in the shower have an acidic ph value. but baking soda is a great base. i swear we used that for like everything in chem 10 when we did the acid/base unit...and good old hcl (hydracloric acid) diluted of course, don't think they'd give grade ten kids pure hcl, lol !
