Question crank widow regulator

1999 Civic DX
Left front crank would not get window all the way up. Wife had this repaired three times Third repair lasted the longest. Started having to crank and pull on the window to get it back up. I decided to buy a new regulator since it is to hot to ride with window up all the time.
According to the Haynes manual the window seal is to be pealed out to lift the window out. Had a time getting the widow back in the lower portion of the track. Now can not get seal back in exactly the way it was. Do not know how to get the window clip back in. The top edge of the window does not go all the way up into the seal.
Wish I had started here first. Car is due for inspection this month.

Re: crank widow regulator

Had the same issue and replaced the powered regulators with new ones and still had same issue. I then replaced the rubber and then the window operated like new. I think whatever coating is on the rubber wears down over the years and the raw rubber provides too much friction against the glass.

Re: crank widow regulator

They're supposed to be lubricated once in a while with silicone spray

Re: crank widow regulator

I tried that a few times, but it didn’t work for me. Was surprised how easy the front door rubber was to replace. The rear were a little more tricky.
