Key fob to lock doors just stopped working. Can only lock driver side door from the inside. Noticed when key is removed from ignition none of the gauges sweep to the bottom (rpm, temp and fuel). I no longer hear the beep alert for the door though. No issues removing or inserting the key, starts perfectly fine. Most recent work is a radio upgrade, but the person that performed the swap is very experienced and has done a couple on the car already (gradually upgrading better and better). Had to replace the ignition when we first got the car in April/May but haven't had any issues with the FOB. Next thing I'm going to try is replacing the battery in the FOB as soon as I find one available.

not sure what is your main issue. title says one thing, body says another.

key fob: a red led light lights up when you push the button on the fob.
if it does not, you need install new battery...

The issue is the car thinks the key is in the ignition but it's not. Therefore the fob to lock the car won't work.

take back to them and have them check the work they did.
what about the red light in the fob?

Light of FOB works. We replaced the ignition ourselves and haven't had any issues with it. It just started. Like I said, it was working fine and then stopped all of a sudden. Now we can't lock the driver side door unless it's closed.

No, but the FOB isn't working to lock or unlock the doors and it's the only way to unlock the doors. We don't have a key for the doors.

I just want to know how to get the car to recognize that the key has been removed from the ignition.

..... That's why I asked, for a remote start they either have to mimic the key or stick one behind the dash. If the remote start wasn't installed properly or is broken then that may be why the car isn't recognizing that you're removing the key

Also a remote start system will sometimes disable the factory fob

It's not remote start. It's a regular ignition.

Have you checked to see if there was one at some point?
Also check the stereo wiring, not exact sure how that could affect the ignition but I've seen some pretty scary installs

When my dude has time he's going to triple check the radio. The install we know went fine but the unit might be defective and causing problems.

And the car has never had remote start.

open it again and re-check. something could have come loose.
