try jacking it up and pushing the gas you'll see no governor. just try. to its theoretically possible my auto can get to 158, maybe with like 350 hp/350 tq with super mods. god.... i wish for that day.

Secondly, I've hit 140 or so odd MPH twice..........Of course, the first time was in a mitsu eclipse GT spider (with room to spare still to redline), and my friends ZX-9R two weeks ago (THAT one was by accident on 417 near orlando, we swapped bikes - he had my SV650).....
Funny thing was, I couldn't even tell I was doing 140 on his bike. The eclipse on the other hand - man it was crazy. Not sure even how fast my car could go, since I try to baby it.. Of course, after I get my turbo kit later this year, its no holds barred!

my 02 LX (non Vtec POS motor) hits its govenor right around 112 mph. But with the oversized tires.... I have clocked myself with the good ol GPS at 115.2 mph
is there anything I can do to change my GOV?

Rep Power: 301 So, is there a way to make it so that our civic can be ungoverend. I always thought that the speed was limited by the chip, not that little thing in golf carts. Also, my civ maxes out in 4th so I know it can go faster. I think I would be scared to go faster tho because economy cars arent ment to preform well at high speeds.

Rep Power: 0 ok people let me clear this up a bit. i bought an 02 civic lx about a year ago because i needed a great reliable car when my 99 skyline is in the shop. now i have owned many cars considering i am already 25. there is no way in hell an 02 civic stock is going any faster than 112-115 . unless you have chipped it or you own an ex. there is a govener on the car. plain and simple.

i was going uphill at about 90 downhill at about 110 but i kept pushin it when i hit flat land and got to 120 by the next bridge before i had to take an exit
thats the same as my old 89 corolla with the doors rattling and wheels wobbling
i know what happens when you hit something at over 100mph (not from experience) im not that interested in TOP speed
also, i know little tricks the cops use to catch you speeding, ESPECIALLY where im talking about, and going 120 in a 60 is double the speed limit, thats not just a "slap on the wrist"

Rep Power: 0 Im too afriad to speed here. The fastest ive gone in my car is like 95 MPH (150 KPH). I cant afford the insurance increase.
But if I were to attempt to find its top speed I would do it heading south on highway 10 down the Niagra escarpment. You have a long smooth straight before the dropoff and then its a nice 2km downhill slope and then flat road again for another 2km. So if any of you GTA members wanna try it, thats your best bet. And I dont usualy see cops around there.
Quite a few years ago I got my 87 Topaz Automatic up to 180kph down that hill before I backed off out of fear of the thing blowing up LOL

A lot more believable than 135 mph! A 115 hp car weighing 2550 pounds at 135 - 140 mph sounds like a crock to me. There is a lot of wind resistance which needs to be overcome past 100 mph - which takes horsepower , something the LX does not have lot of.
An actual published road test of an 01 EX 5 speed coupe resulted in 127 mph - DRAG LIMITED - not governer limited. Meaning the forces of aerodynamic drag were the limiting factor in preventing the car from going any faster with the HP available.
An actual published road test of an 02 LX 5 speed sedan resulted in 113 mph - governer limited according to the test data.
Jacking the front end of the car up and giving it hell as someone mentioned does not do anything to prove top speed - there is absolutely no weight being moved , no rolling resistance and no aerodynamic drag taking place.
