From: Da2K1 Well I don't have a Video camera or a digital camera to prove to unbeleivers. But I'm not bull shitting you. I hit 130. I run the same road when I leave my ladies house and haul *** down it all the time. I get great cold air by the beach on a flat straight road.
I'll do it again tonight!!! when I leave her house.
Also why would they put milage on a car that it couldn't reach. Maybe your hitting the rev limit because you aren't shifting into fifth gear. or you have an auto.
PunkingCivic- 130 in an LX?! Unless you bypass the rev- limiter via an ECU upgrade, there is no way that is possible. Prove it.

The EX is a d17A2 (I think) which is a 127 HP @6100 RPMS and 107 Torque @ 4500 Has Vtec
The DX, LX is a d17A1 (I think) which is 115 HP @ 6100 and 105 Torque @ 4300 Does Not Have Vtec
I'm pretty sure on those stats listed above.
I don't see why you couldn't put in an HX transmission as long as it wasn't the CVT. If you did though, your quarter mile time would probably suffer. The one cool thing about the HX's gearing is that at Peak HP it's going 60 MPH, so when driving along twisty roads, you can basically stay in 2nd gear, the EX and LX have simiar gearing, but not quite as tall.
Here's my spreedsheet again which shows all this

ok. lets think a few about this one. first off, our cars have NO governors. (yes i read some former member proved this by putting their car on jackstands). i even tried this to see if we indeed have a gov. i have an ex auto so i jacked up the front tires. then i got in and i pushed the pedal as far as it can go. well... about 158 mph @ 7000 rpms. the reason why the wheels wouldnt spin any faster than 158 because the car is redline limited. and yes, the autos have a taller 4th gear than the mt's 5th so that means the autos would theoretically have a faster top speed if they had more power to max out the hp part on the power band (i guess hp peaks at like 6600 rpms).

That only applies for the CVT, I've read the manual as well...and I do agree that on page 181 it states that "When the vehicle reaches the maximum speed in any shift position, you may feel the engine cut in and out. This is caused by a limiter (112 MPH) in the engines computer controls.)
I think it's refering to a rev limited speed for the HX's CVT. Whereas the 5 speed won't max out till like 175 in 5th... (though it could never go that fast) Then again I could be wrong, I'll figure out if I can go past 112 sometime sooner or later.
I think on carpoint it says that the LX was Governed at 115...I'll check on that though.

Well, after my friend just crashed his integra gsr turbo (with a lot of engine and suspension work), I stay away from high speeds in hondas. You see, the civic was made to go under its top speed, it can do it, but not too well. My friend with full coilover suspension, lighweight rims and brand new pirelli p7000 fliped at 160 in his turboed teg (t4). FWD is not made to go fast on highway, STAY AWAY. thrills kill.

for you people with D17's saying you are doing 130-150mph no way you dont have the GEARING nor do you have the power also i think you need to get your speedo calibrated.
Two the guy with the 150mph Si sorry buddy not gonna happen unless you have a new FD and 5th gear and some mods to pull you that high and on a stock b16a ecu forget it you would hit fuel cut before you got even close to 150
in my 00 si i hit 138mph and that took awhile and all i had was basic bolt ons
so the rest of you with your i went this fast storys can forget it.

Here's my question for all of you......
Why do you believe what your speedometer is reading? Several tests have confirmed that speedometers are not dead-on acurate, especially as speed increases. One test I read a while back had a speedometer reading almost 20 MPH MORE than the car was travelling. So, I believe no one, unless you either have calibrated your speedometer, or have another source. (Radar / laser gun, for example)
Just my $.02

They way to test your speedo, is really easy, just look at what speed your going and match it to the RPM that your car should be going at the speed. If they don't match then it's not calibrated properly, ALSO, you can just go 60 on the freeway, and time yourself for a minute and see if you go a mile. I do agree that speedo's vary at higher speeds, but I've never heard of such a large discrepency as 20MPH on the same size as stock tires. Usually it's less than 1% of your speed.

Im not scared to top speed test in the middle of the nite ...lol No joke...i have 18k miles (maint req light) and had my seats out to run all my stereo stuff (srs light). at least my seat belt light isnt on. I was buckled up
150mph??? dude's running on under-inflated tires...
i've only gone up to 180km/h.. but that took FOREVER to achieve... was so slow climbing up to that speed...maybe there was a head wind..

lease: i have yet to see a 7th gen break even to the 140s. man i prolly dont even stand a chance making 125 while spraying a 75 even if i hit my top speed without the nitrous. and if i did, i would bust up something real bad and crash. Registered!!
