weird and difficult to find the cause problems - post your case!
Let's see,
The civic was having a clunk, clank sometimes when going over bumps. Look here, prod there, nada. well, turns out I finally found the problem... this was on the upper side, closer to the frame. very hard to spot even lifting the car, no tires...
my miata was having weird handling issues, inconsistent behavior but could not find the cause... Just when i bought it, i hit a sidewalk sideways (don't ask). well, this one is the bolt that connects the upper arm to the frame.... under cornering, it moved slightly and changed the suspension geometry slightly... only the head and the nut are visible, so I only found out when i disassembled the arm...
clunking noise when car was subjected to any G's in any direction. months looking for the cause.
it was an effing glass coke bottle that got under the rear seat... Grrrr!
electronic peep noise. try to find what was making the noise. aftermarket alarm? something under dash?
no, it was an effing wrist watch that fell between seat and central console by previous owner...
Those weren't frequent failure items IMPO. Checkover the wiring for damage
I deal with a lot of damaged wiring here ....Critters LOVE LOVE LOVE to gnaw car wiring.
Ever notice any evidence of rodent activity? Seeds or food kibble laying around, (Kinda like kids imo) Food stashed.... sliding or rolling noises when the hood is lifted, wads of nest material, or turds..
Actually meeting a furry vandal in the car can get pretty dang exciting too,
I've been face to face with live squirrels, chipmunks, mice,
a rabbit who kept chewing injector wires when the hood was opened, ;
a raccoon snoozing when the hood was opened (looked up at me like 'aw man plz turn off the lights')
a rat who made a honda van 3.5 engine its home
Customer scheduled to return van the next day to fix one wiring problem, but this rat got all ambitious n chewed a completely different bunch of wires overnight. And I found it staring at me from its hiding spot.
when i scared it out from under under the intake manifold it ran across the shop straight to a MDX (with the same style engine) and hid under the intake manifold.
Aaaannd then things started to get really interesting.
@bugbitten , you got the prize
Your post got the honor of being in this thread, so we copied it here. It is unexpected cause
Let us know if you want us to remove this from here, but I started the thread to show that somethings are just... not what they appear or something in the specific car is different and we need to really investigate what went down - all the threads we have in the title saying that it is unique are actually well known issues, BTW...
Mystery solved! I guess I was ham-fisted putting it back together and bent two pins. Big sigh. I'll probably have to wait until the morning to get it back together, as the sun's going down, but maybe now the car will actually run decently with no codes.

losing power
common, sadly, but unexpected answer

Looks like I found the culprit. Pulled a caliper and found the piston rubber boot looking like a balloon. Somehow it maintained enough of a seal to keep all the leaking fluid inside.
Re: Clunking and snapping coming from front end (2017 Civic LX)
Edit: Copied your post from another thread, thanks, @93IndyCivicGuy
Old post but I will provide my experience with a clunking. Purchased a 2016 Civic Touring, Honda certified 75,000 miles and after a week started getting a clunk from the front suspension, sounding like a bad strut or control arm bushing going bad over any bump large or small. Nothing visible after jacking. Took it back to dealer and the mechanic found in their data base to look for rock(s) in or around the sway bay. he removed the sway bar and applied compressed air to the tunnel the sway bar runs through in the chassis and a small pebble came flying out, about the size of a small almond. The pebble was scraped up from metal contact. Reassembled and the clunking was gone and I'm now @ 80K, driving great.
