Busy couple weeks! Installed new yonaka catback exhaust and wrapped a small portion that was rubbing a bit. Put in some blue LEDs: trunk, grille & front floor. Started using LC20 & FP Plus and I'm very impressed already. Changed out the fluid in the PS and brake reservoirs.

was coming back home, when in the HWY saw a happy, happy rock happily jumping and skipping and wagging its tail.

At the least, it matches the hail damage it already have... except the chips...

A new jack,4-way,and a new air filter. Starting a new maintence regime to undo the years of abuse that was set into place.

Re: What did you do to your civic today?

Decided to have a go at restoring my faded to crap carbon fiber hood today.

Here's a pic from last week when I did my headlights. You can see how crappy the hood looks.
Name: mobKXHh.jpg
Views: 108
Size: 83.0 KB

I spent a couple hours wet sanding it.
Started off with 4 passes of 400 grit sandpaper: horizontal strokes with a good amount of pressure, vertical strokes with the same amount of pressure, horizontal with light pressure, vertical with light pressure. After I was done, it looked like a pterodactyl dropped a massive bomb on my hood
Name: SEkJwhZ.jpg
Views: 107
Size: 1.23 MB

Followed that up with four passes of 1000 grit, same pattern as before.
Did the same with 1500 grit, then again with 2000 grit, and finished up the wet sanding with the same pattern whilst using 2500 grit.

Afterwards, it was better than before, but still could have used something else, so I busted out the Meguiar's Marine/RV High Gloss Polish meant for gel coats and fiberglass

Topped it off with a coat of some wax, and here was the finished result

Since I had my hood pins off, I decided to paint them to avoid the faded black molding look that they started to develop. Wet sanded with what I used on my hood, let it dry, sprayed primer, 4 coats of automotivetouchup.com's B96P Honda Eternal Blue Pearl (bought some for my headlights waaaaaay back when) and 3 coats of clear, and let them to dry. Not perfect, but my car's not a show piece.

Hood still looks a tinge on the yellow side, but that's something I'd have to leave a body shop to do. They'd likely have to sand off the gel coat, reapply, and spray on a UV protective clear. I got quoted at $500 by a paint shop, but I can almost buy a new hood for that price.

Re: What did you do to your civic today?

Installed the deck out of my old car, Installed a secondary battery in the trunk, Installed 6.5" and 6x9" speakers, ran all wiring for both amps and second battery. I ran out of female connectors, 4G wire, etc.so I didn't get the 6x9's or the subs actually working yet. But the deck and 6.5's work great...

Re: What did you do to your civic today?

I got all of the little missing pieces, mainly 4G wire. I got the 6x9's plugged in and the amps mounted. I couldn't plug the amps in, because I don't have an allen wrench to loosen/tighten the connectors. So I will have them and the secondary battery online soon. Ops check good on all four interior speakers and deck. The speakers sound amazing just by themselves, a huge upgrade from my last rides component speakers. The subs should round out the package quite nicely. I will clean up all of the wires with conduit after I am done...

Nice work on the maintenance. I am hating on those leds, put your $ under the hood, not on novelties.

I refilled my clutch master cylinder, after it ran dry and I couldn't disengage the clutch today. It appears to be slowly leaking from the slave, so I'll put that on the list-o-****-to-fix lol

Re: What did you do to your civic today?

Picked up some Griot's one step sealant to protect my hood today. Put a coat on and let it dry to a haze, and of course, rain started to fall. Hopefully with how warm it was, it dried fast enough. Still looks shiny as hell though. I'll follow up a few weeks from now to let you guys know how my hood restoration fared.

Darn, Josh, don't remind me that I need to clean the lenses on mine... The bad part? the issue is inside... water infiltration... Remove, bake on the oven, remove the lenses and polish them from the inside, seal, etc...

Re: What did you do to your civic today?

Stereo is finally bumping! I got everything working and one of the speakers was out of phase, so it sounds better with that switched back to normal. I honestly haven't even turned it up until it distorts it's too loud for my taste that way. The interior speakers sound amazing. It all still needs a little tuning, but sounds and looks **** so far.

Tomorrow is slave cylinder day!

I never would have if they weren't 3.50 for all four strips on eBay, lol that wouldn't go too far under the hood. Ball joints and es poly bushings are on order as well as a new oil filter and plug.

Yours is looking nice. That stereo must slam!
