Sorry, but my ocd is showing its ugly head. Just a quick fyi... Technically, that M16A2 holder is an FM whip antenna cord, which is a different cord than 550 paracord. Good wrap to hold it secure, but not field expedient in terms of quick release, like that side-arm holster attached to the center console. Carry on.

Finally replaced my rear OEM shocks with KONI STR.T (orange) yesterday. It was a lot more of a beeyatch getting them in than I had otherwise been led to believe. The ride is MUCH better already. I'm hoping to do the struts an a tire change next weekend.

Upgraded shift linkage bushings with polyurethane ones.
The shifter feels much more defined and mechanical, I like it a lot.
She also got a nice wash and shine on the outside.

Removed head and engine block. The joker who did the head gasket before i got the car fouled up a number of things. 3rd cylinder coil pack's spring/connection to the electrode was UNDER the rubber boot that was stuck around the spark plug.
The Blue smoke culprit was a scored cylinder wall possibly from a bad ring. Two bolts held the cam side motor mount bracket to the block. So....yeah.

Cleaned the block and head. Taking them to the machine shop to get freshened up. 3 angle grind on valves and head. And a nice new cross hatch hone on the cylinder walls. Also pulled injectors to clean them and the channel plate and get the old plenum gaskets out.

I changed the plugs today in my 99 Civic. This is what they looked like after 2 years in a D16y7 with 245 000 kms.

Washed and waxed her over the weekend. Heard a popping noise near the front passenger wheel... I was able to jiggle it slightly to the left and right today after I got home for work. Anyone know the best way to change a bearing and hub?
Also got a speeding ticket in the mail. Today is not my day.

^ that looks much better then rolling around in the trunk.
Is that from a speed camera? That will be fun when we get them around me. Red light cameras are becoming more popular but still only at certain intersections around the state.

not today but very recently I heard a brake pad chatter. First I thought it was rod knock, scared me something bad. I was going 70 on the highway and then all of a sudden i heard the knock/thumping. But I eventually noticed that it went away when I applied the brakes. I replaced the pads with higher quality pads and hardware clips, no more chatter.

Just did 3 stock motor mounts on my 02 civic manual; left the rear. Really not impressed.
Anyone else getting a thump when shifting with new mounts? thinking about going with some solid mounts or a combination of solid/rubber.
I seriously doubt the last back mount is causing the noise.

For winter: took off the 18" wheels,
Reinstalled the stock Firestone LRR tires on some Hybrid or HF wheels like this:
Will road trip a little this coming weekend, hope to see my gas mileage figure much higher than with the 18s.
Also, changed the oil.

Re: What did you do to your civic today?
Should definitely see an MPG increase with them.
I know what I was able to see on my mileage display when doing steady 50-55 MPH with the stock tires and steel wheels/hubcaps (around 52-53 MPG until I reached the first stop)....I wonder if that could go even higher with the smoooth aerodynamic hybrid wheels...and tires pumped up a bit over 40 PSI

Re: What did you do to your civic today?
Last few months the wagoon has had ok days and days it wouldn't start. So with slackn on researching it. Had had enough and went into finding out what could be the prob. You know the main relay was in most of the searches as the cause.
More looking ..... ecu caps bad. So pulled the ecu to find a Python Injection inc lable on the p06 and it has a 1/4" hole through the board? WT ? With a big blue 220mf capacitor jumping a circuit?
Didnt phase me, right, it ran good b4 with a hole it may after changing the caps. Long story short c21 and c24 where bad but changed all of the little jewels. 1st time doing this and of course the 1st 1 was a real pita. 10v 220mf. The rest after the learning curve ha ha, went much quicker.
Cel was staying on for about 30 seconds b4 it would go off and start. Then after running awhile about 10 minutes it can back on but would run with a up and down idle. 100 150 rpms.
After the caps where changed everything came on fuel pump ect as normal I'm liken this! Idle was good, yeah! Smooth as butter when I eased into it.
Let it run and warm up idled down to 750 rpms.
Seems all is well again! NO
PS Ebay 8.00 shipped all caps needed.
Hope this helps someone here.
Merry Christmas,
Hatch, it man
