I'm very proud of the fact that I haven't been beaten by an SRT-4 yet. But I understand that with the right driver the car should be faster. It hasnt been yet, but its jsut a matter of time. The funny thing about this is that it Pisses off the SRT-4 drivers that do come out, they have the menatlity that because the SRT-4 shoud Totally Trash my civic in the 1/4 mile, then it Obviously shoud do the same to it on an autocross track. But they dont understand that even on a good day an SRT-4 should only be about .33 seconds faster ( on a 30 second track According to the PAX Index) then an STS car. and that .33sec is lost by just being a few inches to far away from 1 slolom cone! So, An SRT-4 with a good driver shoud be faster, but is just 1 mistake from being slower. compair that to how much faster it's suppose to be in the 1/4 mile.....

anyone that pays 30k for a focus is a moron sorry! buy an RSX-s and turbo it for less then that. WASTE OF SPACE AND MONEY!! they'd never price it in the range of the evo though they can't win. I also expect a big price drop when it gets here. but theres always some idiot that will buy it. even if it is 30k for nothing.

Look, rally car or not, the ricer-wannabe's who are gonna want to buy that, are not going to be autocrossing. They're gonna want to be racing a straight lines. It'll be sucky for them when they realize it's not that fast.

If you guys think Focus' are crap;
Take a look at what they're doing in the WRC.
There's a tuner that's extracted around 300 bhp all- motor from the car.
There's a co. that offers a v-8 swap & RWD for the Focus.

None of which can be done w/ a civic.
The civic is not all that. It doesn't have a lot of potential either, when you look at a focus or some other cars.

The only "good thing" is our cars can handle, but it looks like only a few here appreciate what our civics are about..

Fixing up a focus, the hp/$ ratio is much higher than a civic!!

Before you start bagging on other cars, see what they are about.

Edit: i can guarantee you that car won't cost anywhere near 30K, when it comes out..

You cant compair a $200,000 WRC car to the car it came form
300 hp is impressive, but then Ford has always made decent engines, Its how the rest of the car is put together that I dont like (I've worked on them and I dont like what I've seen). Also, A car is judged by more then the HP of its engine. As far as A RWD V8 Swap, well any thing can be done with the right amount of $$$$.

I will not buy a ford, not becaus its a ford, but because I've acutally seen how they are held together and it was awfully Dissapointing.

Not long, once Ford releases the 500hp version of the Lightning based on the new 2004 F-150. I'll bet my left ******** that the Lightning will be faster than the SRT-10. Well, maybe I won't bet that, but it will be, trust me.

As far as fords that have my respect, The new cobra is about the only mustang I would drive. And as for the Lightning, My GirlFriends Brother has the latest Lightning. For a truck, IT IS STUPID FAST, PERIOD.

But $30K for a focus--- screw that. I would gladly take my money over to mazda and pick up a new RX8.

Even better, I would pick up a used S2000 for $20k and supercharge the $hit out of it and have $4,000 left over for some rims and tires.

there use to be a video around here with the focus rs vs. civic type r vs. something else on the track (road course) and the focus came out on top by a few seconds

people geez, the car isnt coming here, nor will it cost 30k even if it does. and the new lightning has 500 hp plus a supercooler. supercoolers use the a/c to cool air because supercargers loose alot when they got hot, and they heat up rather quickly, thats why alot of race teams dont use them for any type of long race. so the Lightning will actually have 550 hp with the supercooler on.

Actually you're right and wrong. The real original RS is FWD and around 210HP and compares to the Civic Type R (which it beats on a track thanks to it's LSD - Euro Civic Type Rs don't get LSD).

The RS COSWORTH is AWD and around 255HP. THAT we'll never get. Ford is aparently scared to compete with Mitsubishi and Subaru.

That's what I was talking about. Pretty much the RS will run circles around a Civic Type R. A WRX was in the comparison but the Civic Type R beat that.

Euro CTR has no LSD. (JDM CTRs have them.)
But the Focus RS does.

I doubt they'll sell it for $30k. Come on now... although Ford isn't the best car company in the US someone would have to be ****ing stupid to sell a car barely over 200HP for $30k. No one in the right mind sells a car for that much. It's not THAT fast and it's just a Focus... hell there's not even a $20k Focus! Everyone's all overreacting off a mag price estimate. Get over it. Magazines write reviews they don't give official prices to the car and they valued their estimate really shitty. The steering wheel looks like **** and it has no cupholders.

Oh, and this car won't kill the SRT-4 in a straight. The SRT-4 is still the fastest production FWD car in the world. The Focus will hit 150MPH but that's nothing the Dodge can't do either.
