Should I dump the Vic?
Should I dump the Vic?
Due to the nature of my work I have the potential to move around quite a bit. In five years I have been promoted many times and through five locations. On Sept 2nd (two weeks away) I will be getting promoted yet again and here's the kicker: I negotiated myself about ten miles from home!!!
Now for my dilemna:
I was doing 3,500 miles a month. Back in april I sold off my 98 Integra GSR. As it was, I felt too guilty about putting all of those miles on the poor thing. I then weighed my options and like anyone in my situation with decent common sense would do, I bought a Civic.
Now that I will be in a nice "comfortable" location so close to home, the mileage issue is gone. Here's my choice:
A. Keep the Civic
or
B. Go get something nasty

So far we have two votes to dump it and one vote for keeping it.
I have thought about the K20 swap. I was all set to do it but the recent Hasport Civic test in the (I think it was) Motor trend did not impress me. It just seemed like for all the money and effort the K20'd Civic should have been faster.

i say keep it. It's a good car, and if you DO get promoted, you'd have to go through the whole thing again. Look what happened to your integra. im sure you enjoyed the hell out of that car, but because of the mileage you would be putting on it, you got rid of it. so with the civic, i am assuming you enjoy the civic. i dont know if i even have a point here, but i say keep it. nothing to lose. later on, if you KNOW you wont need the car, you will still come out good because the vic wont have a lot of miles on it (since you arent traveling as far).

But I do hear what your saying. I have also been tossing around the idea of keeping the vic and picking up a 93-95 RX7. I have ALWAYS loved that car and could build it up on the side. Maybe that way I could have the best of both worlds.... :MatrixShark scratches his head: Registered!!

if you civic is still under warrenty, then you should defintely keep it. if you get somthing old with alot of miles you would have to fix it alot. just keep the civic and dont do any more mods, since it wont really be fast enuf anyhow. get another car that could be faster, and build it up and possibly dont even put much ins on it for awhile, so as to keep the cost down like you said

dump and get something else
if you indeed get promoted again, like you said, you get a company car and a gas card. and if you don't i ma sure you have enough income then to have 2 cars
