I'm sick of the SRT-4 already
I'm just venting here, thinking that many on this site may feel the same way...
Every damn site I go to, and everything I read, it's neon this, or SRT-4 that. Here's my thoughts....
People are talking so damn much about a car that isn't even out yet. The hype is way way way beyond the car, and people are going to be let down. It's kinda like when everyone tells you how awesome a movie is, and they build your expectations up... then you go see the movie and you don't think it's that great cuz the expectation was so high.
Same for this car. Every damn person and their mother is talking about this car like it's going to be an unstoppable beast that even God himself couldn't touch. I read everything from how this neon is going to smoke S2000's, 350Z's, mustangs, even Z06's and vipers. When is the crap going to stop? People are banking a lot on a car that isn't even out yet. "with $1000 my neon will run 10's"... are you on crack?
And then you've got all these people thinking the neon is going to have 223hp at the wheels right off the showroom floor. Yet even SCC said that the model they ran was not stock and not to expect to get that much off the showroom floor. Everyone else says it's like 215hp at the crank, even dodge... but yet every damn forum I go to, some little pissant is quoting the SCC article. "I'm goign to get my neon and go run 14.2 at the track and smoke everybody". WTF. Get a clue. Again, people banking all this information on a car that's not even out yet. It's ridiculous and annoying.
And to any neon trolls lurking about, I offer you this.
If you want to prove all the hype and prove me wrong, then I will gladly run you with your stock SRT-4 right off the showroom floor with it's "223whp" and it's "14.2 1/4 mile". I'll even give you a freeway run, since everyone also seems to think that the SRT-4 is faster than a 350Z, S2000, mustang, etc, etc on the freeway as well.
Anyone else who's sick of this neon srt4 BS, feel free to rant and rave as well.
I think the neon is a great bargain for under 20k... though we'll see if past neon reliability affects my feelings on that. But that price has a negative impact too... I think it's going to put too much car in the hands of too many inexperienced and immature drivers... I expect that SRT-4 insurance rates will go up quickly after a year or two.
PS. I'm not hating on the car, just the BS being flung everywhere about it.

wow, now that's venting...
anyway!! I'm not sick of the SRT yet, since I avoid reading anything about it that's already been said, apart that I barely have time for it, a 200+whp car under 20k is a great price, but if all the money put into the car manufacture is tuned to that amazing turbo everyone's talking about, I can just imagine the ratling noises, plastic pieces falling apart and uncomfortable interior it may have...althought, I can't back up this tought I have with any fact, it just sounds too good to be true, sadly, the world isn't a great place, the SRT is an idealistic car, but in real life, it will have something wrong somewhere in the car that will reflect it's price...
my 2 cents...

i have to aggree on this totally. Dodge is spending more money to gear this car directly towards the 16-21 year old croud and its going to have huge fallback. Im going to get sick of immature young dont know **** about **** kids making fly-by's on me and my civic risking danger to both themselves, and myself, let alone any other drivers, or pedestrians on teh road, just to make themselves look better. This is the exact thing that is really scaring me out of buying a new 350z. I have a huge fear that ill have my brand new car, and some hot-shot punk si going to try and flex his ***** in my face with a shitty cavalier or neon or so on, and end up messing up my car because he cant handle his own car. Im really tired of all these punk high school kids thinking that they are experienced nascar and nira drivers.....

I, as an high school student, can say that is very true.
I don't drive like that because of the danger. There are many students like that.
It's the dumb ones who **** up.
There was a student who drove a Roush Mustang and probably thought he was Superman.
One day, he tried to make a quick right on a red without looking at traffic and was hit on the drivers side.
I think he broke a few bones here and there.
Kids like that is what cause insurance to go up and screw us good students over.

thats exactly what s2000man is talking about. how do you know it is going to be faster than a subaru? sure that is what some numbers are saying, but there is mixed information on what exactly the horsepower is. so until it comes out, and someone figures out exactly what the hp is and races it against a subaru, no one will know whether it is faster or not.

ok ok, but... from my understanding the clocked time from 0-60 was 5.8 seconds... Even if that is overstating the whp, even 10 hp less would not be slower than a time of 6.8 set by the wrx. I'm not exactly positive on the wrx time though, and I could be completely backwards. So to save you all from getting super mad at me, just a disclaimer that i am often WRONG.... Let me know if I am...

ok think of it this way i belive the stock neon r/t has 160 hp.. it runs like a 16.6? now add like 400 pounds and 55 more horsepower and expect it to run a 14.1 i dont think so. The srt-4 will not run anything close toa 14.1, just like the 6 speed nissian sedan i forget its name was suppose to run mid 14s it ended up running high 15s.. Get real it wont happen. Even in articals it says that it didnt have any mufflers or a cat on it, you think that a single production car will ever be sold without a catalyic converter and mufflers i dont think so would never pass emitions.

ShadyMilkMan your numbers were alittle off, i fixed them for you.
Ok think of it this way i belive the stock neon r/t has 132 ft/lbs.. it runs like a 15.6? now add like 300 pounds and 120 more ft/lbs and expect it to run a 14.1, i sure think so. The srt-4 will run a 14.1 with a decent driver. The car does in fact have mufflers and a cat, just not a very large muffler.......

I have seen all the hype to. And ya I am getting sick of it. I have first hand experience with neons. I had an 89 civic until some asshol# hit me. Got a new 2000 neon off the lot. In a year the car had been in the shop 6 times. A couple of factory recalls and other shi$. Ya the car was quick when it was running. When I bought my civic. the neon was a year old 23,000 miles on it. in great shape and the honda dealer wanted to give $6,000 on trade. When I paid 11,500 just a year before. I will probably never buy another new dodge.
Every damn person and their mother is talking about this car like it's going to be an unstoppable beast that even God himself couldn't touch. I read everything from how this neon is going to smoke S2000's, 350Z's, mustangs, even Z06's and vipers. that's hilarious
Yeah there is a lot of hype going around about it but I still don't care for it. I am also sick of it all ready, I can all ready see people jumping ship to go get one then losing their when they are sick of them wanting to get rid of them like the PT cruiser that was such a hot item to some people. Yeah I want to see the #'s also when it hits the lots to see what it really puts out. But still I will keep my Civic for awhile longer since nothing out there right now is really getting my attention.

One of the #1 reasons why I want to make SURE I have my boost by January, is so that no punks in SRT-4s rip me a new one, because it's scary to think that were my car stock, I may not stand a chance against a neon

If you want to prove all the hype and prove me wrong, then I will gladly run you with your stock SRT-4 right off the showroom floor with it's "223whp" and it's "14.2 1/4 mile".
