looking at the first pic it IS a vtec head. those three holes to the right of the intake ports are oil passages for the vtec solinoid.

Rscivic just found out there were metal shavings in her head. It messed up alot and cost lots of $$ to fix. I hope nothing bad happens.

When will people learn? Too many people on this site eager to throw their cash away. Then when someone like me comes along, who has seen DH's crappy work and crappy parts, and tells them not to buy from them, they flame me and tell me I am full of crap and then BOOM! Out of money, out of parts, and most likely out more parts that were fine until DH's crap was installed.
Does anyone know how much actual porting the DH folks do? Do they just open up the ports or do they go down inside the head with the tools? From the pictures it looks to be a pretty "informal" porting process. If nobody knows, I'll just call 'em and ask a ton of questions. From what the pictures look like, though, I could do the job with a dremel drill, $50 worth of bits and a week of my freetime. Anyone know how much a new head costs from honda?
Not necessairly in DH's defense but along the lines of common frickin' sense: You should always, always, ALWAYS wash/clean/inspect ANYTHING that has had milling/grinding done to it. The only exception is OEM parts, and those should be inspected with a magnifying glass under a good light. 20 minutes cleaning your ported head is WELL worth just taking the time to do. Heck, it's aluminum, you can use your garden hose!!! If the valvetrain is already installed, aka you bought a built head, then NOW would be a good time to tear it apart and inspect EVERYTHING there. It's not brain surgery and is a whole hell of a lot cheaper than trashing your engine.
Ya'll have brains, use em!!!

Well I'm gonna give them one more chance. The head should be installed in the next few days, or maybe next week. Josh told me to expect 30+whp on N/A motor. I know that's rediculous. But if I don't get a good amount of power I can feel, they're in big trouble. I spent around $1500 just for the head project with parts and install.
On another note, the pulley I have is garbage. I had the guy installing my head test fit the pulley and it did not fit over the crank, even with force. He said it was not designed for my car. Josh insists they all work but refuses to give me a refund. There is only so much I can take, and the head results are gonna make or break this company. You guys don't want to know what I have planned if this head doesn't work out.

Let's just say the BBB will be the very least of his problems if the head doesn't make good gains. I'm still gonna try and get my money back for the pulley.
I dont get it.
What is the point of letting a company do head work that is half way across the country if you can just find some local shop to do it? If some BS happens you can go there and complain in person.... when you deal with people over the phone its completlty different.
Anyway, I hope it works out for you dude. Good Luck.

Good luck, I've heard through various sources that DH doesn't give refunds....you're most likely screwed. The DH saga continues....

They gave Prod one....which surprized me...If it only works on a certain model of civic and they say it works on all D17s, then they're at fault..either way...good luck.

Still blows me away, however, that someone trashed their engine because they didn't clean the parts before installation. With that and the fact that quite a few people can't get their timing back right after doing the install, I sometimes wonder more about the folks doing the install than the company selling the part...

I can't get a refund for the pulley. Josh says I'm crazy because the pulley won't fit over the crank. It's garbage anyway. I wouldn't even install this thing if it fit right.
I feel really bad for Melissa. The mistakes made on her head work cost almost $1000 to fix and DH is not doing anything. I'm just hoping the head works so I can put this whole thing behind me.

I'd use your d-cam and a micrometer to your advantage. Take a picture of you micing your cranshaft's diameter and take a picture of you micing the inside diameter of the pulley and e-mail them to him. Josh can say what he wants to when the pictures get in. He should refund your $$$ simply on the basis that you are a disastisfied customer. As a last resort, get the model number/serial number of what the pully is SUPPOSED to be from DH, then compare it to your own (do it in that order only, if you give them a number, they'll just spit it back at you).
DH should help out, or at least apologize for #@*$ing up and leaving shavings in the head. Was that the only problem with the head on Melissa's head or did they make some other error as well?
If you're highly motivated, there's always the BBB and small claims court... (I bought the head in good faith that it was ready-to-run etc....etc...)

i would personally go for better known companies out there for parts like AEM, DC, Koni, they may not prove significant gains or anything but at least we know it's reliable and safe
All this big gain N/A talk that this company is making /claiming has done nothing but make people angry and complain.
At first i was pretty into the idea but i wouldn't buy anything from DH racing yet without proven numbers. Although it's good strategy to let people try out your products for a lower price or in some cases free i still think customer satisfaction is #1..that's how you really do and make business. Just my .02
edit: this is just my opinion..i'm not trying to discourage anyone from buying anything from Josh

i can't wait to see what happens, other people have bought from them with good results so just cause a few ppl have had troubles doesn't mean you automatically will too, to be honest i hope you get great results cause i wanna pnp head too and i dunno about the shops around here, i think they might be extremely expensive

Blur, would you rather pay someone who is expensive to do it right the first time or pay the hacks at D!ck Hugging Racing to do it wrong the first time and then have to pay a local shop to do it right the second time?

Well civicstreetcr got the head on his N/A car, but he doesn't seem to be posting much. He said the engine gets louder, but the power really isn't that great. He told me that maybe I'll have more luck with the vtec head.
If this doesn't work and produce the 30+whp that Josh claims on a stock motor, I'll see to it they never sell another product here.
