What? The pics are fine and linked from member rides. Maybe you checked when the site was slow. And no, it was my first time doing it with no practice. It actually came out pretty good so far. I have the other two ports to do today. Only concern is the gasket isn't perfectly straight anymore. But it should be okay once everything is put on the car. I called a few places and one guy convinced me to just try it, because it would take him a couple hours to do. It's taking me even longer, but it's just time-consuming work--not really difficult.
^^ Once you line it up with the head, you should be ok. You still have a little metal on the gasket left, so you should be set. Yes, the work is time consuming. Better safe than sorry.
IronFist- The pics work.

OMG! Dh totally messed up on my head. The exhaust ports are NOT even in the center. I finished the gasket porting. When I went to match it up to the header, the holes were the same size, but the ports I made are not centered!! So now I have to try and dremel the top half of the header ports. So when I'm done, the header ports are gonna be bigger all around. I guess it's okay.
Another thing--my grinding tool won't work on the header metal. Is there something better I need? Help...
Another messup by Dh. I think they milled the TOP part of the head 1mm!! Now I'm checking into this, but that much milling means a messed up cam timing and raised compression.

Man it's not all that funny. Well, maybe a little. But this could explain why all those people who didn't port match it ended up with little or less gain than stock. You're gonna have all kinds of air currents going on if the holes don't even match up. Stupid DH! Those guys don't belong near an engine.

Well good luck--you're gonna need it for sure. And I forgot you have the IM/TB, so that's even more porting for you. Better buy a dremel! I'm gonna compare the IM ports on the head to the gasket later tonight. It took me about 6 hours just to port the em gasket.
what the heck? even though all i got was the pulley i'm pissed off that all you guys are getting ripped off by DH. how the heck does somebody who claims to have a 10 second SOHC mess up on centering the exhaust ports?
not one good thing as come out that BS company so far. the BBB really needs to DH shut down. if not, all of us need to sue the pants out DH and make sure they dont ever screw up another customer again!!!

The pics in that thread still don't work for me. I'm at work, but I'm logged in. All other pics work for me. I'll show you guys a screen shot tonight when I get home if I remember.

See if you can find them in my ride gallery under DH racing. They're in there and linked like any other pic.
I'm pretty pissed about the head, but I was able to fix it a little by porting the header. It's been alot of extra work and cost. Now I find out I need a new cam gear because milling the head will increase compression.
I don't even know how much it's gonna be to tune this once everything is done. I need to dyno tune, get cam gear installed, then have them set the cam timing. I'm guessing lots of $$$.
The intake ports are the same as stock (good), but they are smooth instead of rough (bad). I really don't know how the head can make power like this with all the messups. DH needs a lesson in porting, because right now I know more than they do about this. And that worries me.

Why should the intake ports be rough? Does it just mix up the air/fuel mixture more for better combustion, or is there another reason. And will having it smooth really make that much of a difference?

You got it. Turbulent air is better for combustion. I'm hoping it won't matter too much. These are very basic things that DH should know about porting a head.
Should be getting the cam gear soon, and hopefully the new volant intake.

I wonder if you could install the cam gear and adjust timing yourself..would you be willing to try? I'm sure someone here would be willing to help you..Hell, guns installed a new head gasket himself and then had to adjust the timing because it wouldn't work if I remember correctly....I'm sure he'd be willing to help you out as much as he can.

One thing I'm worried about is driving it around without tuning. Will this be bad for the engine? I can't get it tuned right away. Oh well, we'll see what happens. I'm getting it put on in two weeks.

don't stress it. I am still driving around with it not tuned. after all its still N/A. Even though the DH head is a little ugly it still makes power. How much..I don't know yet, but there will definatly be a difference.

What do you think about higher compression from milling? Will it be a problem with NA? I know you have a turbo and head. What's going on with your setup?

Just to update you guys, all this stuff will be on May 29. I just got the AEM cam gear from Dober (street level performance), so everything is good to go. Looks like I'm gonna stick with the stock airbox and exhaust for now. I wanna see how much power the head is making on its own (with header).
Any last words or cautions from you guys?

Two days til the install on Saturday. I'm driving at 4am to get there early, and I hope everything works out. K&N fipk intake is installed, and the header/gasket is port matched to the head. Also picked up AEM cam gear.
Anything else I would need for install, other than fluids and gaskets?

Thanks. I can't sleep. I hope this all works out and gives some good gain. This is gonna be the last mod for a long time.
