My dad passed away and so im trying to fix up his old car. I know he was into modifications but im not sure exactly everything that hes done. The car cranks but doesn't start. A friend told me to check the fuel pump and I did that and the electrical connectors had gunk in them like someone spilled something. But nothing around it was dirty so I'm not sure. I winded up cleaning it out pretty good and it still didn't work. So, I'm on here looking for any ideas 'cause im pretty new to cars.

engine needs:
1 - fuel
2 - spark
3 - starter motor
go from there.
old cars suffers a lot with cracked distributor caps. Check that, since it cranks
