Doors unlock but don't lock

So, when using either the remote either the button on the driver's door i can hear a click clack under the dashboard but nothing happens. Just like it would detect a door open.

If i have the doors locked and try to unlock them, it works ok.

I checked the switches and they seem to be ok (the dome light comes on when i open a door and it fades away when i close it).

Anyone has some hints on what could be the problem?

Thanks.

Re: Doors unlock but don't lock

I have a similar problem with my driver's side door lock as well, although it doesn't work at all unless I use my key. You might want to check the wiring like this video:

But if the unlock function works it could be an actuator thing too, which would require you to look at some door guts to see if anything is loose :-/

You can try keeping the door open, moving the latch to the "closed" position, pushing the black side button (the one that activates the dome lights and the door ajar light when it's not depressed by the door) and trying the switch again. This would at least narrow the problem down to the door.

The key locks/unlocks the door, right?

Just pull the interior paneling off and start troubleshooting each component separately. Jump the actuator and see if it works in both directions, then move on to the next component. Grab a multimeter and make sure there's power where there is supposed to be and wires aren't broken.

Re: Doors unlock but don't lock

The keys are working ok.

When tring to lock neither door don't work. It's not related to one door. Unlocking the same, works on both. So i guess is not related to the actuator.

It's more like it still somehow detect one door being open and that's why it doesn't lock them.

I would assume most of the wiring is ok, since when i press the lock i can hear the clicks under the dashboard ...

Thanks for the video, will check.

Re: Doors unlock but don't lock

Since the keys still lock/unlock the doors, the lock assembly is ok at least.

First you find your door latch...

Using your fingernail, rotate it down and to the outside...

Until it looks like this.

Then depress this button and try your locks at the same time.

If it's a door sensor (as opposed to a lock issue) then the car will still think the door is ajar and the locks won't work.

Note that the passenger lock is slaved off the driver's side, so if only one side is bad it won't operate unless the driver's side is already in the desired position; i.e. the driver's side must be locked in order for the passenger side to lock.

***Remember to reset the door latch by operating the door handle with the door unlocked. Otherwise, you won't be able to shut your door!***

Re: Doors unlock but don't lock

Thanks for the explanation, and for the pictures, made it a lot easier (english is not my native language so i don't understand all technical terms ... )

I tried that and the doors didn't lock, neither of them.

In your note you said that the passenger door will not lock unless the driver door is locked, if i manually lock the driver door (key or ****) the passenger door still doesn't lock.

So the problem is either the actuator for both of them not working only for locking (highly improbable bun not impossible) or is something common for both, a circuit or open doors detection.

One more thing, just tested:

1. Driver door unlocked, pressing the lock on the remote several times nothing happens.
2. Driver door locked (key), pressing the lock on the remote the doors will not lock but the horn will sound once after second press.

Any DIY on how to bring down the side panel and access all the electronic things in the door? Step by step as for someone that doesn't have any ideea what his doing

The video below starts with some parts already taken apart.

Look at the DIY for installing front speakers in the DIY sections. It has pictures and it will get you in there.

If the lights flash and the horn sounds, the lock position sensor is ok. Dumb question... you checked your door lock fuse, right?

Right, no, i didn't. I took a look at fuses but didn't spot any with problems. Back then when i checkd the fuses i had no ideea which is one so i kinda took all out and inspected them, under hood and under dash.

Dumb question: so the door lock fuse is not related to ... unlocking too? I was expecting that if that fuse is burned the unlocking would not work either.

I will check fuse 16 unde hood (that's the one for door lock, right?) fuse 16 (20A) is ok.

Re: Doors unlock but don't lock

Set your dome light at center, doors locked except drivers. Close drivers door and watch the dome light and see how quickly it fades out... see if it fades out the second the door is closed, or remains on the delay. If it stays on then quickly lock the door with your key and see if it fades the second the door locks.

On 7th gens they have a status switch in drivers side to know the status of the lock ****/latch.

And hope that you realize you can't directly lock an open drivers door on these.

Just tried: closing door, slow fading light. Closing door an locking it with the **** (by the window) quick going out light.

Re: Doors unlock but don't lock

That says that the info from the status switch is reaching MICU as it should.

You may need to measure voltage to drivers actuator. Or apply voltage to isolated drivers actuator.
