Re: Cluster miles

You can't DIY it. You need to contact a speedo shop. This is the shop mentioned in Hondas service bulletin http://www.paspeedo.com/

Re: Cluster miles

it must done at honda or a certified shop...it also needs to be documented (dont hvae to worry about this if you are doing it the legal way). its a felony (in the US) to alter ur speedo without documents if you decide to sell it later on.

We send those out to a speedo shop, but I also don't deal with used parts on this. We have the mileage stickers if need be.

Re: Cluster miles

yeah you will never be able to prove your original miles. so just find one on ebay with similar miles to what you have and swap it in.

Re: Cluster miles

If you ever sell the car, do a private sale. Sell it as the cluster says, but let the customer know the actual mileage. My parents had a similar situation with their 1998 F-150 that had to have the odo. replaced. It read 160,000 when it was only about 110,000.

I think if you have the original cluster, it would be possible to match the part ID# to the car. I believe a Honda technician can recover the mileage from the old cluster. The trouble is, you don't have any way of proving how many miles you've done on the new cluster and a piece of paper with a hand-written number won't cut it.

Re: Cluster miles

engine is new, but car is older. yeh need to prove that when selling or it's illegal. i just keep the service records updated on my side, but changing tires or whells can change the actual numbers, so...
