Just wanted to let u guys know that u can install the lx or ex cluster in the dx. The only problem is that the abs light comes on all the time. I ordered the ex one so i dont know if the lx has the abs..... Oh also u start with 0 miles. Not to bad for 200. A tach and a car with 0 miles.

wait a minute how did you hook up the tach when pin 22 is not even in the wiring cluster.? that is the signal wire comming from the ecu. Let me know if you ran the wire because I want the lx guage cluster to hehe =)

No. Its a plug and play thing. You only have to take the old one out and put the new one in. Thats it...... If you like the monster tach look good for you, I dont.

One more question for you. ( YOU own a dx and the guauge cluster swap worked). I have asked many honda techs and they all give me the same answer, NO it will not work because of the missing pin wire. How did you make it work hehe. I really want to do this swap but im uncertain about that tach wire. When you install the new gauage cluster did you happen to notice if pin 22 had a wire installed? If it works with out this wire then Im going to get a lx cluster =))

They told me the same thing. But the wire is ther because its easier for honda to put the same wires for the dx, lx , and ex. Beleive me it works, and you dont have to connect another cable. Hope it helps

just get a monster tach it looks better andu can get a shift light. plus doesnt the computer store the mileage since its digital. ive got a monster tach in a lx even though i already have one. its just looks so good.

Thats for the 2 door lx. I looked for the 4 door lx cluster and its way more expensive why is that?
also is there any way you can swap the speedometer from the old cluster to the new one so that you keep the same mileage?

Sorry guys I didnt check the forum for a while.... Once again the odometer starts at 0 miles. What ever millage u drive with the odometer u have on is the one that will show up... I bought my cluster from an honda parts dealer in Puerto Rico. Theres a place online called Majestic honda that sells them for 142. Go to parts for honda and check the cluster for an lx. Hope this helps.

im trying to put in a tach...tooo.. the same probs... i tried plug and play for hours...no go
i dont want to lose my stock guage(ex), but i want them both reading... anyone have sol'n...rather than just taking the stock wire and putting it into the new tach? i tried the blue wire from the valve cover, but only 1 out of 4 work, im not the one. i even tried the ecu...couldnt find the white wire...some help please???? digram????something.

I believe there is some RPM sensor in the engine that transmits signals to the tachometer. If you want 2 tachs, you have to either install another sensor or splice the signal coming from the original sensor. The sensor emits pulses of current that make the needles move, so if you were to put 2 tachs drawing this current, the readings may be unreliable.

Sorry for the 3 in a row. About swapping the LX, EX gauge cluster into the DX. If this were just plug and play, it makes no sense to me at all. Why would Honda go out and produce a separate gauge cluster just for the DX if the EX, LX ones worked perfectly? There has to be tachometer components missing in the DX.

you know somthing RE I bet you are right. I have been reading and reading post after post and it looks to me that right now only the two door model dx are doing the guage swap. I even looked at the majestic honda page that someone posted on the form and it was for The TWO door lx, not the 4 door. The 4 door guage cluster is way more expensive the the 2 door lx for some strange reason. I dont know anymore hehe I thought that maybe the swap would work with my car but after talking to more then 5 honda techs I do not believe that the 4 door is going to be able to accept the lx cluster. If anyone has tried to swap a lx cluster to a dx 4 door please let me know. [IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-frown.gif[/IMG]

OK I have a big favor, I just read another post , isthere any lx sedan owners willing to check to see if there is a wire in pin 22 (on the green right connector) that is connected to the guage cluster. It would help me out greatly =) please please.

Is there anyone out there who is ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN that this will work and has actually done the swap on the coupe or sedan civic? It sounds too good to be true and odometer fraud can't be this easy.

we want your cluster hehe =) were trying to find a lx person to see if they will take out there cluster to see if the lx has a tach wire. Pin 22 if any one feels up for looking for it , there would be alot of dx owners very happy -=)

Arg.. the hardships of having a DX. Instead of the tachometer, the 2 small side gauges fuel and temp take it's place. It looks pretty ugly and is annoying. My 2001 civic dx is my second car and my previous was a 99 automatic corolla and it had the same setup. I've never been able to drive around with the luxury of a tachometer.[IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-frown.gif[/IMG]
