Re: LED Thread!
might just make a run to autozone and look around at what they got. i found another little 3" light tube on ebay, but it looks purple and they r sayin its blue. and they say it plugs into cigarette lighter outlet, but theres no pic of being connected to one.

Re: LED Thread!
pic of the jamstrait 194 amber led park lights. i finally got the 3157 version in the signal too. not as bright as i hoped, but good enough for the front and looks completely clear. saves 29w of power compared to the filament bulb.
Re: LED Thread!
I got bored so I made a trial for what I am wanting to accomplish with my doors.

The leds arent as bright as I wanted. (they do look more purple in real light)
I need to raise the left light for the opening on the outside.
Tomorrow after I get done working on a few things Ill see if I can alter the angle of light by smashing the diode plastic.

Re: LED Thread!
picked up a pair of 180 degree luxer1 led bulbs (jdm version) for the license plate. these angle down for max light in our housings. these leds are actually more like a 5500k color temp compared to the 6500k purple white regular luxer1 bulbs in my interior. matches better with the hids i think.

Re: LED Thread!
I recently bought LEDs to replace the dome light from ebay. got them today and changed them, they turn on and off but for some reason when the switch is on the "door" setting the LEDs dont turn off completely, they just go really dim, i'm scared if i leave it like that it'll drain the car battery (probably not possible but just in case)
i really want the light on the "door" setting.....what're your takes? probable causes?
i bought the LEDs in a pack of 2 and tried both out and they do the same thing....
thanks!

Re: LED Thread!
well hello there! nice to see you back here. did you end up moving yet?
as for the leds staying on dimly, its just that particular bulb you got. most should not do this at all. the luxer1 bulbs i have turn off completely.

Re: LED Thread!
Does anyone know of an EXTREMELY basic LED Diy thread or tutorial? I know nothing about wiring, I'll be completely honest. I have a lot of knowledge for civics (thanks mostly to this forum haha) but almost NOTHING of cool interior lighting tricks. I have no idea where to start, and want to be able to know what to buy, what wires to tap into, how to tap into said wires. Help!

Re: LED Thread!
Heeyy
Depends what you want to do, as you can see, most people here are just doing a simple bulb replacement
Just changing the stock interior lighting creates a nice effect

Re: LED Thread!
I'm talking about custom stuff, where lights aren't there to begin with. If you go back to the first page of this thread, there are some crazy ideas. I'd like to do some ambient lighting on armrests, under the dash where it illuminates around your feet- stuff like that.
Re: LED Thread!
Speaking of doing that...
I'm torn between blue or white for the footwells, what do you guys think? Also, do I need to use a resistor or not?

I'm trying to concoct a way to get led lights under my rear view mirror since I dont have a map light.
I had one of these in as a test and I really liked it, it added an ambient amber glow to the interior and wired it to the dimmer so I could dim it as needed

you can see here on the shifter what it added to the interior ambiance
Re: LED Thread!
That looks real good man. But what I want to know how to do is tapping into the cigarette lighter wire, haha call me a noob but when it comes to wires I feel like a fat guy in a organic food store.
Re: LED Thread!
03 LX, auto, was pretty easy. Took me less than 5 minutes to get out.
Pop out the trim around the shifter. Then the bigger piece of plastic that was on. Remove the two screws by the cupholders. And pull off the trim. Then pull out the cigarette lighter piece.
EDIT: I am now selling 470 ohm resistors for your LED project needs! Click here for more info.
