this one has the big boy hi wattage XRE emitter running at 5w (cant use it for anything but reverse light or it will overheat. they have a constant current driver in the bulb base.

Correct! Its the best aftermarket LED so far on the market! Wish they can use it for headlight, tail light, etc...

Re: LED Thread!

I was hoping to swap out my dome light bulb with an LED upgrade, but have hit a snag. After finally getting the clear cover off, without busting anything, I saw that the installed bulb was longer than the replacement I had. Don't know what's going on. The 31mm DE3175 I was sure was correct for my application, but....??? My car is an '05 2 door coupe and there are no map lights just a centre dome with a single bulb. Sylvania suggests DE3175 also, so I have no idea what's going on. Any thoughts or suggestions from someone would be greatly appreciated. How many bulbs can there be for these cars??

Re: LED Thread!

31mm for 01-05 civic should be correct. 37mm was never used altho i think it may still fit in the slot. 31mm should fit no problem. did you measure the oem bulb? its possible you got sent the wrong led bulb that is shorter than 31mm if it doesnt fit in the housing.

This is my problem exactly. Went to swap out the stock bulb for an LED upgrade and the 31mm bulb looks smaller than what I had already in there. Only advice I've had so far is to check the sylvania website, but it says I require the 31mm DE 3175 that I apparently already have and that one just can't be right. Man, I hate when something so simple turns out to be a hassle!

I think you must be right. I haven't measured the bulb, but it sounds like the simple explanation. Hopefully I was just sent the smaller/wrong size and I need to get an actual 31mm one next time around. On the off chance that isn't the case, you're saying there is a 37mm bulb I can find to use? Thanks for the imput, it's appreciated!

See if your dome looks like mine here:
https://www.civicforums.com/forums/2...ml#post4560027

If it is, Sylvania is wrong, the 31mm are for certain models (I'm not sure which)
that has the 31mm map lights

I had also originally bought the 31mm because of sylvania
If your light looks similar to mine, it could be a 41mm instead.

the dome light with a single festoon in it (not the dual map lights) uses the 31mm bulb. the problem is very few pnp leds ive seen look the same as the stock bulb. my luxer1 bulbs were an exact match and i got the 31mm version.

That's not the case for me,
Hence why I said I bought the 31mm for my single festoon bulb
Came out short, measured it, was actually 31mm, measured OEM bulb, 41mm
Bought the 41mm, and fits snug in it's spot currently

Re: LED Thread!

yeah the festoon dome light with a single bulb in it.

i just looked it up, and the dome assembly is the same for all 01-05 civics. the dx has just the festoon assembly, the ex has the festoon assembly for the rear dome, and the lx has the front festoon map lights. all the festoon bulbs listed by honda are the same size. and the light assembly is the same part number too. the bulb is called T-3 by honda, and when i picked up a spare at the dealer, it was a 31mm festoon bulb like what is listed on the sylvania site. im not sure if a larger festoon bulb could fit but its possible, and maybe the previous owner used the wrong bulb. i guess it doesnt matter so long as the bulb can be installed in the metal clamps.

#1 dx festoon lamp part# 34250-S5P-A01ZA

#1 ex festoon lamp assembly part #34250-S5P-A01ZA

#12 lx front map light assembly

This is the what I have in right now, the 41mm LED that fits snugly into place

Taking out the OEM civic rear festoon, i could see it reading T-3 578
Quick google of 578 bulb comes out to be a 42mm festoon

I'm confused as well

Re: LED Thread!

wow interesting. your insides look completely different and i think actually its the color of the housing! tomorrow i will snap a pic of my "grey" version lol so you can see the smaller bulb. looks like honda made a mistake with the bulb sizes. the housings have different part numbers but that is ofcourse due to them having different colors. grey housing = 31mm, brown housing = 41mm lol i never wouldve imagined because the shapes are so similar.

Don't think it really makes a difference

Did you check the difference between 01-03 and 04/05?

i had neon tubes two under the drivers side and passangers and wo in the back that beat to my house music...then i pulled someone over. that's how i found out you could see them form outside. so now they're in my engine. this pic's old but i'll put it up in here anyway.

yup 01-05 all use the same assembly and same bulb for the single festoon dome light according to honda. im really thinking its the color making a difference. i've only seen the grey versions and they always used 31mm festoon. this is the first time seeing the beige version.

10 pc for $6 is not bad

They usually go for $1 a pair, so it's alright
The more SMD's the brighter it should be though

Re: LED Thread!

I recently did the conversion to 04/05 tails!! Very satisfied with the result! Thought I would show the difference in the reverse lights from the new tail lights to the old.

For those who don't know these are what the stock 01-03 coupe tail lights look like. (Notice the not clear reverse light lense..)

And here is what the reverse LED looked like inside of those tail lights..

Again, for those who don't know what the 04/05 tail lights look like, I know most of you do, here they are (Notice the clear reverse light lense, makes a HUGE difference!!)

Now the new tail lights with LED reverse lights (A little too much light for my camera, even after I made some adjustment)

I'm loving all of my LED's! I have gotten a lot of compliments on them already! Definitely worth the less than $10!

i def. see a noticeable difference!
where did you purchase your reverse leds from?
i'll probably be going with 04-05 tails if the price is right.
