LED Thread!
Re: LED Thread!
I just installed LED footwell lights, red, both in front and rear and also the trunk. The kit came with a factory looking switch so they come on when the dome light comes on, when you open the door, or you can turn them on where they stay on. Easy install, took about 30 minutes. I will post pictures soon. The guy makes them in various colors, I went with red to match my SI red gagues.
Re: LED Thread!
Blue footwell lights are my next task, I'd also love blue cupholder lights.
Some time down the road, I'd love to put lights in the vents that are in sync to the music.

Re: LED Thread!
I think I'm gonna go the easy way out for the them though, just splicing them into a 12v plug. If I feel like tearing out my center console, again(that was hell), and splicing them straight into the 12v wires then the DIY might be worth something.
Also, I recommend those bulbs I got. I see no reason not to get them, trying to convince my parents we need them in all our vehicles.
Re: LED Thread!
I got them from a guy who just started making them for hondas. I only paid $80 for th ewhole kit, if your intrested let me know I can get you his email, or you can email me and I will get you the info. geopatton3@yahoo.com

^Lowlife was talking about something like that.. can't remember the name. pm him?
Hey everyone, do you mind if I move this thread to General > I.C.E. and Electrical, since
LEDs are of interest to every generation?

you do whatever u wanna do, but i dunno if it'll get as much attention.. when im lookin for anything for my car, i generally stay in the 7th gen section.. dunno how that true that is for everyone else. but i got a feeling others do the same. but its up to you.
and geopatton3.. everything looks good. very clean. i like that switch you set up too. looks like it belongs there

That's the plan. Every DIY I do will be a video.

Re: LED Thread!
Yes, it has already been moved, but only to 7th gen electrical since leds are.. electrical.
edit: I mistakenly moved it to 8 & 9th gen..
Re: LED Thread!
I think I'm just gonna do a handful of little LED things at once: footwells, trunk light, license plate lights, and maybe under the seat lights. I've got $500 coming my way this week, so we'll just have to see how much of that I wanna devote towards my car...
Re: LED Thread!
i love me some LEDs too! lolas far as quality goes, are those ebay ones better or the same as ones from like superbrightleds.com? i just went there bc they have the blue ones i wanna get.. but if ebay ones are cheaper, might as well get those.
(thanks for the link btw
) Re: LED Thread!
I need to be impartial to generation to some extent, if people from other generations start posting in a thread in 7th gen that means it's most appropriate in general. I know as well as anyone though, this site mostly has 7th gen owners and the majority of the thread participants thus far have been 7th gen owners.

Im still looking on superbrightleds.com for the right size bulbs for our cars. Can anyone help me out?
I want map and dome light, trunk and lic plate.
Is the front light inside our cars roof the map or dome light?

Re: LED Thread!
I just ordered my LED trunk light, license plate lights, and reverse lights. They'll be here in about 2 weeks. I can't wait to get them. I think I'm gonna do something more labor intensive next, such as footwell LEDs wired into the 12v line or cupholder LEDs wired into the 12v line. Both would make for a good DIY.
The dome and map lights will depend on your model. The LX and DX use 3, 31mm festoon bulbs; these. And I believe(don't hold me to this) the EX uses 1, 31mm festoon bulbs and 3 168(T10) bulbs.
The trunk and license plate lights use bulbs with a T10 base which is the direct replacement for the 168 incandescent bulbs.
Here's the ones I ordered for the license plate lights and here's the ones for the trunk light.

Re: LED Thread!
That was my only worry. But, the base of the bulb was roughly the size of the glass on the incandescent bulb. And the LEDs appear to be about the same.
If they're slighty too big, I think there's enough extra plastic in the lenses that they could be dremeled out some.

Re: LED Thread!
I wouldn't advise you to dremel out the plastic
It actually helps disperse the light a little, so it doesn't look like a spotlight
But then I just remembered, I had bigger LEDs in the plate lights, they should fit fine
I put pink LEDs in there for ***** and giggles lol

Re: LED Thread!
Alrighty, sounds good. I remember seeing that pic.
Looking for a helping hand or two or three...
I'm in the stages of planning for my footwell and cupholder LEDs. I've got the LEDs and what not picked out. I'm just trying to figure out how I need to wire this stuff.
Here's my circuit I drew up(not the actual number of LEDs going to be used, there will be more), I feel like it's wrong. I made a mistake and forgot to put the second negative wire going to the LED strips(not that it matters, I could have 1 or 11 of those hypothetically speaking). I haven't done anything with circuits for about 2 years, and I tried to teach myself it again by looking at some diagrams.

Re: LED Thread!
hey, i took these pics a while back from inside my car for the bulbs.. my model is an EX sedan. and the front lights are all bulb style:

and on:

and this is the back light which uses that "festoon" style bulb:

actual bulb that goes in there:

and these are screen shots of the bulbs for the front part that ill most likely be getting:

and then the back style bulb is like this:

i dont have any of these yet, so, cant really tell you how they are or whatever, but just thought i'd help if i could for the different models or whatever.. again, mine is an EX.
