LED Thread!
Re: LED Thread!
I got my reverse bulbs today. Turns out they're too big in diameter to fit in, and I don't feel like cutting up my housing thingy. So, time to order smaller ones.
EDIT: I can't find any 7440/T20 LEDs that have a diameter at the top less than 20mm and don't cost $15 for the pair. I think I'll just mod my mount/housing thingys.

something like this would be plenty bright enough

I just have the bulb type LEDs for my license plates, I personally dont like them too bright

Turns out that is an auction and I suck at those, plus I don't have time to sit around and watch an auction for something like this... So I found another small(er) type of bulb. This time with 8 LEDs instead of 6. Would this fit into the license plate location or is it too big?

Re: LED Thread!
Successfully modded my reverse light housings for my bulbs to fit. A little bit of work with a dremel goes a long way. They look good, if the garage wasn't full or it wasn't pouring rain right now I'd have a pic.
I'd like to get the video done by tonight, I've got a busy weekend ahead.

Re: LED Thread!
I also just got my rear dome light in today. I heard somewhere on here that it is a 31mm bulb, I have an 03 EX Coupe btw. Well it came in and to me it looks very small. I tried plugging it into the spot and it is too small.
The lights do turn on when the positive and negative are touching their respective sides, but it is too small to stay in place. Here is a comparison of the stock bulb and the new LED

Was I correct that 31mm is the corret size or was I mistaken? Right now I have the LED in my car being held in by white electrical tape

Re: LED Thread!
I ordered some t10, 5 led bulbs for the license plate lights. I decided that I wanted LED parking lights, so the 12 led bulbs I have coming for the plate lights will become parking lights. I also think the 12 led bulbs might be too big for the license plate lights.

Re: LED Thread!
I love my reverse LEDs. The parking light LEDs look pretty sweet in the day, can't wait to see them tonight. I can't do the DIY for the parking lights due to my injury, had to have my dad do most of the work. I want to add additional LEDs to the trunk, it's way too dim.
Just waiting on my trunk lights, those should be here by friday, and all my lights that have a clear lens(inside and out) except headlights will be LED.

Re: LED Thread!
i changed things up a bit for winter and put some luxer1 led bulbs in the front parking and rear license plate. same as the dome lights. also got a pair of jam strait hyper amber led bulbs for the sidemarkers. i ordered some for the front signal but they wont be here for a while. fogs have maxxima amber led cluster as a park light and diy shield removal.
the luxer1 leds use 3 nichia smt chips and draw 0.5w per bulb. i would say the lumen output is around the same as a 168 stock bulb and the color is 6500K cool white with a slight purple tint. very bright from every angle, including in the plate lights where they are not pointing down. i am hoping these last a few yrs at least being on all the time.
pretty clean looking when off...

uber bright when on...

the tails also have upgraded raybrig and polarg filament bulbs, thats why they look so bright

and a neat pic of the gauges with orange bottom glow (5mm leds with custom reflectors)

Re: LED Thread!
jam strait 4 led 5mm sidemarker bulbs for signal. these are the hyper version which are the brightest they carry (compared to super and regular). these are way more intense than the w5w amber filament bulb. camera was washing out, so i couldnt get any lit up pics.

pic of the maxxima 3-smt amber modules in the fogs. these were pnp technically because the rubber grommet fits the h11 hole perfectly. these come in every color. i chose amber to give a nice oem contrast with the white leds and hids on top. they are not as bright as the luxer1 bulbs but pretty close. i wired them to turn on with the lo beam headlights. i also drilled out and removed the oem bulb shield for better visibility.

Thanks, a fractured collar bone is no fun. I should be feeling well enough to be able to do it the end of this week. My license plate bulbs should be in and I can do all the DIY videos I need to get caught up with (trunk light and parking lights, reverse lights is recorded but not edited).

Everything looks awesome!! I think I'm going to take the extra LED bulbs I have that are the wrong size for everything else and stick them in the parking light spot on my headlights.
Re: LED Thread!
Yes they are. The pictures don't do them justice. They put out almost as much light as my single headlamp on my moped did. Any size would fit in the housings(parking and reverse), so you could get some crazy bright 68 led bulbs.
I'm excited to get my license plate lights.
Then I move to the rest of the interor lighting: dash button back lights, cupholder lighting, footwell/under seat lighting.

Re: LED Thread!
Quick question about switches. I have a 2003 EX Coupe with the sunroof. Is it possible to keep the Cruise Control switch by the sun roof controls pressed on and just shove in the back of that area? In it's place could I put a switch there to control under dash LED's? Possibly like the fog light switch or something?
Re: LED Thread!
Would that switch just pop right into that spot? And will the switch work with 4 LED strips hooked up to it? (One under each side of the dash and one under each seat in the rear)
Re: LED Thread!
Ive been lurking around last few weeks putting some elbow grease into my civic, wondering if anyone here knows enough about eletrical circuits to help me out a little.
Im not entirely sure how the transistor works or where it needs to go.
